The zoo's latest announcement about Nene ↓ -------------- Well, here is an update on Nene. It has been a while. In our first blog, we mentioned about “her declining legs,” but recently she is gradually eating more and more and walking more knuckle-walking. We have also seen her climbing ropes on the ceiling. Wow you really provide wonderful information. Glad Nene is doing well. One question it’s strange but why doesn’t Ai and Shabani mate. I can’t find any info regarding that, it just seems strange. Does Japan have any plans in introducing another female, it would be ashame for the Shabani line not to continue

​@@annemariemcnamara8756 Not confirmed but AI is likely on birth control AI actually had a baby before Annie that ended up passing away. When Annie was born the zoo had to care for the baby since AI failed to show proper maternal care The zoo probably doesn't want to repeat the past experiences I doubt we'll see more babies unless a new female is added to this group

I feel so bad for all of the young gorillas in Japan. There is no future for them. So many. Shabani's children, gentaro, and haoko's daughters, are all stuck with nowhere to go, and in zoo's that won't work with each other. They might as well put all of the females on birth control, if they aren't going to have a place for the kids to go when they get older. This is the most unorganized disaster I have ever seen. These zoo's should be ashamed of what they are doing to the animals. It's no wonder why other countries like the u.s. won't send or trade animals with them. They don't want their animals being subject to this type of negligence.

They are working on a solution. GL (Gorilla Life) who keeps us up to date with what is happening and in the works for the gorillas has said that the zoos do speak to each other and try to come to agreements but as with anything that involves different entities and especially countries, nothing is resolved quickly.

Мамотаро делает это с сыновьми,потому что ему нужны другие молодые самки.У Хаоко тоже две старухи ,которые уже еле передвигаются.А ведь все эти самцы ещё молоды и энергичные.Это преступление,не отселять половозрелых детей от родителей.Послушайте , какую чушь несут блогеры,которые обозревают жизнь этих животных,у всех самое важное это деньги.Делают вид,что помогают и выкачивают деньги из зарубежных спонсоров.Япония не бедная страна,но решать эту проблему не желает

Shabani has been persistently pursuing Ai unsuccessfully for 10 years. Now, Shabani is competing with his son Kiyomasa. But Ai has made it crystal clear that she has no interest in kind-hearted Shabani. Kiyomasa will be 12 (11/1/12) so it is normal for him to challenge his dad. Japan desperately needs bachelor pads 4 their young silverbacks!

Ai was put on birth control.we don't know if she is still on it.i have read that in gorillas the female decides to have intercourse& accepts the male.Ai after all these yrs sees Shabani like a brother.then she won't accept him as a partner.I saw it with Koko, the gorilla who knew sign language.the 2 males brought in to mate with her, she saw them as brothers& they didn't mate.Dont know if the zoo will take her off birth control.maybe then things could change.🤔🤔🤔

Around 08:22 Shabani’s face when Ai casually offers him some food 🤣💀Entirely puzzled rather than his usual longing look. It’s a little heart breaking seeing how his eyes always follow her around but you do you Ai. Seems like something has happened to make Shabani assert himself with Kiyo however for now it is not escalating since Kiyo doesn’t have his Nene Shield he seems to be wary of antagonizing. I have enjoyed seeing how much closer they have all become lately. Thank you for sharing .

Thanks for sharing the joy of Nene's recovery... ❤ Want to see her in every blog, she is a unique personality and I simply njoys watching her lots. Kiyo and Shabani relationship is coming back to normal- silverback & soon to be silverback and it's scary to let Nene join this troop, this zoo must decide to either expand another troop lead by Kiyo or transfer Kiyo to another zoo soon.. sad to see just tense situations, it hurts everyone

At :12 when it was no lighting Kiyo jump in and I’m not joking I thought it was Shabani 🤯,, it’s so sweet to be able to watch Kiyo, Annie, Gentaro, Kintaro, Jabali, and Ringo growing into handsome Silverback’s just like their Dads 😅😊😊 and I have so many more to name but it would time over an hour to name them all. 😮

They have feelings and emotions and there moments like anyone else right they make good parents and grandparents and uncles and aunties and stepparents and brothers and sisters they are very smart and intelligent animals always learning something new each day from the gorillas they make better parents and friends than most people out much love and respect to the gorillas instead way to go very impressed really enjoyed and appreciate the vidoes please keep them coming appreciate you guys thanks stay safe and warm out there stay strong and healthy as well love you guys thanks !!!! Why do people keep comparing them to us. Yes they show a lot of love and compassion at times. But there are also things that we have evolved away from. Do you want men to have multiple wives and children with lots of different women. Or how about if the wife makes him mad. Is it ok for him to bite the crap out of her like they do. They are wild animals. Just because they look cute and cuddly, doesn't mean that they are. There are a lot of things about their lifestyle that you wouldn't want to deal with as a human.

​@@bigboytoyz541 i think in a way he is right... these gorillas still have the Instincts and raw emotions we used to have... look at a todler or a baby when they have a tantrum... emotions come out which are not controlled yet... we learn to control ourselfs in our life when we grow up... but deep down in us are still the same emotions... Anger, anxiety, love.... we just evolved to control it somehow but i am not sure we evolved better.. There is still oppression, bullying, violence, Murder... most people just learned to hide it better.... I d rather look to these gorilla families where things are raw and simple without any shady politics. Not saying it is a fairytale.. there are families who do not accept any other gorillas, heartbreaking... but it is nature and thats where we come from and it is not any different in our nowadays society❤

@@bigboytoyz541I totally agree. I read that gorillas have a baby every 4 - 5 years. Ai has only one e child and Annie had to be raised by the zookeepers. Even after that Ai and Nene did not have much to deal with Annie. I will be surprised if Ai has another baby.

I’m no expert,but compared to Zoo Atlanta here in Georgia these gorillas are living a life of prison. Zoo Atlanta has 19 gorillas and one of the largest in North America. There is a 3rd generation silverback (Willie B 3rd). They all seem to be thriving here.

1n 2024, the Kyoto City Zoo added another room after Gentaro bit his father's hand during a brawl (3/14/24). Nowadays, Gentaro can't control his ragging teenage hormones, so their fighting has increased 10/30/24). I'm afraid that handsome Momotaro is going to hurt his son Gentaro!

Ai is in estrus and she's allowing Kiyo to move in on her. Shabani is on full guard having to watch these 2 to keep them apart. What is with the Japanese Zoo! These issues don't happen in other groups, since when do you put a dominant old mother-in-law in with the same silverback as a breeding partner with her daughter? This zoo makes so many poor decisions! Move Kiyo in with Nene until Ai is done with estrus!!!!! It won't hurt anyone if that's going to be the typical excuse from the zoo director! Common sense people!!!!!

So I followed the link below to see some pics of Nene,because story we are given is so positive yet what I seen was disgusting,she was on a bare concrete floor eating bits of food looking like she was drugged up,looking very down and out,and then I went to another pic and here she was laying on one sack on the bare concrete again,no straw no bedding no nothing,which is just what I thought might be really going on.This zoo is disgusting and if you think that is acceptable for an aged Gorilla that is in pain you have rocks in your head.This zoo needs to be shut down like the rest of them in that country,they clearly do not value any animal at all.I am disgusted and you can delete my comment if you wish,but it won't change the truth or the reality.

They absolutely do❤️, Plus Ai has PTSD from her last birth and she is probably on birth control so that might contribute to her behavior. If she doesn’t want to mate then so be it.

If she’s on birth control, there’s no chance…. if they ever get Kiyomasa out, they could take her off birth control…. There’s no guarantees, but that’s a start…. It’s clear he needs to go first.
