It’s best to steam tempeh for 15 minutes before you marinate it. Steaming takes the bitterness out.

The other key to these Buddha bowls is to layer the sauce - I like put some sauce over the quinoa then stack the veggies, then more sauce. This way you don't use up all the sauce on those top veggies, and it makes it all taste so good!

I know this is off-topic, but I wish people were more honest about stuff like that, so I'm just gonna say it: You are such a down-to-earth person and even though I really enjoy your recipes and vlogs and stuff and I always recreate your ideas, the main reason why I'm here, is your personality. You seem like the most humble humanbeing and I wanna tell you how much impact you have on me. I have a non-existent mental health and whenever I see your face and you talk about grains or tempeh or mountainbiking or whatever, the world seems to be so f*cking beautiful and I forget all the negative stuff. I deeply appreciate you for that and I hope that you continue to shine for whoever deserves it. Thank you.

LOVE LOVE your video's. You are literally teaching me how to cook Vegan after 40 years of not cooking and eating healthy. I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes over 30 years ago. In March 2022 my new Endocrinologist explained to me in a scientific dissertation about how my body absorbs, (or doesn't) nutrition on a cellular level. Long story, but learning how to, and sticking to cooking Vegan, I lost 40 lbs in 3 and 1/2 months and have reduced, or have quit taking all medication. Anyhow, THANK YOU for helping me learn to cook all over again!!

I can tell everyone to really study these videos on this channel. People usually don’t stick to Whole Food Plant Base foods because lack of flavor. A little prepping goes a long ways. Which is usually why people like plant base foods when they go to a restaurant but get bored with it at home. Keep spreading the good health guys!

My son, who is now 27, was virtually weaned on houmous and was a very fussy but healthy eater, and for years Waitrose, Sainsburys or Tesco was his staple. In the early days I tried to make my own houmous but bitter tahini was a major issue. I think the thing I've discovered is that the bitterness is often associated with rancidity. Sesame seeds don't age well, so a source with a high turn over of product can be as important as the make. As tahini has become more popular I've found it easier to get tahini with those smooth nutty tones and now there is a whoe range and variety of delicious tahinis.

Tahini is super easy to make yourself. Just toast a bunch of sesame seeds in a skillet (carefully), then grind them up in the blender. Can add some sesame oil to get the right consistency. Add some salt and lemon juice and that's it. To me it tastes kinda like peanut butter, but less peanutty. I usually buy a pound of sesame seeds at a time and make it all at once. It'll keep in the fridge for a pretty long time, and keeping it plain like that means it can be used for hummus and all kinds of other things.
