I never watched gymnastics really until today because my group is doing a project on a gymnast and Simone did extremely well, so much talent, she is having fun and adds her own flare to make her performance unique.

+Tucker Tootsie Granted, the facial expressions were different then, but I guess this is just a cultural difference. Europeans and Slavic people have a different way of expressing their feelings, less outgoing than many Americans. I prefer a real smile any time over the sometimes forced grin on the faces of gymnasts nowadays. Furthermore it bothers me to read how many commenters use words like " killing" and "slaying it" to describe Simone´s floor routine. This is supposed to be an expression of human art and beauty in motion, not war mongering.. Sad to see how this dangerous mindset is creeping into the way people (Americans?) perceive things. No European would use such a vocabulary within the context of gymnastics!

Just watched her in the National championships part 1. She is phenomenal in the floor routine. Her unending power; her technique; her landings are off the charts. She performed every routine with high marks, and her floor routine (level of difficulty) was 16.8 (I think) and she received a 16.1. That's nearly flawless. She's phenomenal in all 4 routines. She'll get a few golds in Rio. Lastly, she's so charismatic. She's our only hope for at least a gold medal----the men are iffy.

I heard that Simone read some of the "haters" post on Facebook....and it upset her. People....you need to take it down a peg or two in terms of hate spewed. There is NO female gymnast right now that has her power, her poise, her technical execution (note double layout with a full is a true double layout...same with double layout with half). She absolutely nailed the double double...and had a slight side step on double with full...Her height is amazing...She rocks it...time to give her the accolades she deserves people ...Her and Gabby will in my opinion go 1st and 2nd....Look for Laurie Hernandez too. Laurie is amazing on floor and beam.

+kat23morgan You're right. Simone is amazing and she has a secure spot on the 2016 Rio team. Gabby will also probably make it, and so will Aly. Gabby is good on bars which is good since America is weakest on the bars. Aly is the 2012 Olympic Floor Gold Medalist. You're right, Laurie Hernandez is good and improved which only leaves one spot open. Since we already have Gabby, Martha probably won't get another bars specialist. We may have Ragan Smith or Madison Kocian. Ashton Locklear is also pretty good. Who do you guys think will make the 2016 squad?

+kat23morgan I agree with you about Simone. Not sure I agree about Gabby, who is not even remotely in Simone's league in difficulty or work ethic. Let's be honest, though, the U.S. is so dominant that whichever American is the second AA'er has a very good chance to be the silver medalist. If Gabby is on the team and hits, it could be her, but it could also be Laurie, or Maggie, or Ragan, or Aly, depending on who is on the team. The only thing stopping the U.S. from sweeping the podium in the All-Around, assuming everyone hits which they almost always do, is the two-per-country rule.

I think the reason a lot of people were commenting they didn't like it was because when they first showed it during podium training, the audio wasn't good and you couldn't hear some of the music, like it sounded bad. But here in this video it sounds better.

She is awesome but Could someone answer a question about nailing a landing and please be kind as I am not a gymnast or expert? For example , in her first turn across the floor, when she landed she hopped backwards as soon as she hit the ground. Is that still sticking the landing? If she had hopped forwards instead, would it also count as sticking the landing? I love watching her, so tiny and yet so powerful. Amazing!
