Sin Cara was to me probably the biggest failure of the past decade. He was one of the most talented wrestlers in the entire world but once he reached the biggest promotion in the world, He seemed like a nobody. In this video, I cover Sin Cara's original run in WWE. Tbh, I haven't watched a Sin Cara(Mistico) match in like 6 years hence me not mentioning the moves in the end. Anyways, Sin Cara's problem was not only WWE's fault but his own too. He refused to adapt to the style, maybe he wasn't motivated due to WWE limiting him, he refused to learn English so yeah, both sides made this a disappointment. What did you think of Sin Cara(Mistico) in WWE?
@wrestlingspremier

I think that would've been the perfect place for him. He could just have fun without the worries of cutting promos and who knows, maybe he wouldn't have botched as much as he did initially.

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️Well, you pointed out some stuff over here that I or maybe didn’t know of that much. What I did already know which I’ve heard by other people in fact that either they were booking him as the next Rey Mysterio and he even teamed up with Rey Mysterio at one point or he was just compared to Rey Mysterio in general. Also, I didn’t even know about Booker T’s top five list. I may have heard of a bit here and there whenever I would watch highlights of his career during this era either in segments or matches. I also enjoyed that feud actually that one storyline for him ever. One more thing, we all know about Alberto shooting hard on Sin Cara for stopping a match for injuring his finger and then he beat his ass up in the ring. What I didn’t know is that not only did he mention this incident in the interview but that he also said that Sin Cara gets injured talking like damn. What the fuck? Oh yeah. Fernando Torres. I also remember how damn good he was about 10 years ago or so and how big of a name he was winning matches for both Spain and Manchester United but then after being traded to Chelsea, he wasn’t the same again. I even watched a video on his career trajectory by the way which I personally recommend that you check out.🤷🤷🤷

Ultimo was already a big name veteran in Japan & Mexico before Rey even made it to WCW & could do way more moves and styles than him, but what really made Rey was the quickness and explosiveness his aerial moves had, as well as the ridiculous hang time he seemed to get...well at least in his pre-WWE days and even his first couple of years in WWE before age, the crazy WWE road schedule, & "bulking up" started causing him injuries and limiting his mobility a little, which resulted in him altering his style a bit...anyways Ultimo also has a cool look if not maybe even cooler than Rey, except for when Rey does a special cosplay or tribute look...but in the end it all comes down to the marketing and merchandizing machine that is WWE...don't get me wrong I LOVE Rey & he deserves everything he's achieved, but I just feel like several other luchadors/high flyers from around the same time could've also gotten a similar shine

@@kurtmichaels4151 honestly! It's like he had the same mindset of certain Mexican boxers. I get it as a Mexican American. These Mexican-born-and-raised idols are probably too proud of their country and culture that they don't want to cater to the gringos. But pro wrestling is way different than boxing. While I do appreciate wrestling as a sport, it is definitely more of an art than anything else. You need to be able to communicate in the ring to make the moves looks good. If wrestling was actually a competitive nature (besides politics), then lack of communication would be accepted.

Between him refusing to go to FCW to train and him slapping someone who wanted to communicate in English, it sounds like Sin Cara had a really huge ego and a poor attitude. As a kid, I was a big fan of his. I hadn't seen such moves and tricks at that time. In CMLL, he was (is) way better than at WWE. I think there are some points to be mentioned here: 1) He didn't realize that WWE is not just about wrestling, it's about storylines and entertainment, unlike CMLL, where superstars are required to wrestle only. He wanted to wrestle, but WWE wanted more. 2) Rings in the US are not meant for high-flying moves, they seem to be a lot more solid than in Mexico, which is designed under the Lucha Libre style. Hence, I can assume it would've been painful for him to do some of the moves he used to do in Mexico. In his 1st WWE match, he used some of the moves for the first and last time. It was also said that WWE limited his moves, to make him adapt to the American style, which Sin Cara was against. 3) IDK why WWE decided to use that weird lighting during his matches, it's dumb. His visibility was already limited due to holes in the mask and, I assume, the lighting might have made wrestling even more difficult for him. 4) If he had adapted to the American style, he would've lost his specialness, if you've seen him at CMLL, you'll agree that he's a beast. But on the other hand, "wrestling should do all the talking" does not work in WWE, so it can be said that moving to the US was a mistake from his side. 5) Had both sides discussed their future plans, this would not happen. Idk if Sin Cara knew what he was required to sacrifice in order to become a star in the US, but WWE should've known that making the "New Rey Mysterio" wouldn't be so easy, especially with Sin Cara's approach. Anyways, now he's back in Mexico as Mistico and that's where he belongs.

WWE has yet to utilize lucha or Japanese wrestlers properly. WCW did, their cruiser division even made their video games amazing. Mysterio Jr. worked very hard to get into a main event slot..he literally got crazy ripped at points. Wish we got more out of Sin and Ultimo personally.

I hate to say this but.... you're right Sin Cara was a flop, it's sad because wwe didn't give him the push that he wants and I was into sin cara he is the Rey Mysterio 2.0 imagine sin and Ray become tag team Champs or have a dream match at WrestleMania if that happened back then that will be the great push for Sin Cara but it didn't.... sucks man
