My single turbo VR4. Back when it was at 9lbs of boost (wastegate). It's now currently at 15.

Why are these things so cheap to buy?! When I first started looking at them, I didn't think they'd be any less than $17k. But I've found some for less then $10k. It feels like striking gold.

Beautiful car my friend. This Makes me miss my 97 VR-4 a lot. Have been eyeballing them again, lol. They were my first love, and always will be. I will say this, the Single Turbo cars sound a lot better than the twins hands down. If I ever do get another VR-4, definately going to try the single route.

@corleone171284 and about the internals, the rods are fracture split forged and the crank is solid, along with the piston heads, that engine is good for at least 650-700 on the internals. supras have been documented at 1000hp on stock interanls and the 6g72 in the vr4 was designed to compete.

@ Outspoken: Its not the e-brake handle, its the brake fluid resivoir level sensor. A good launch moves the fluid in the container in such a way that the low level sensor trips, the low brake fluid sensor in 3000's/Stealths is the e-brake light.

@yamahaphazergt galant vr4 was around before 3kgt, its a 6th gen galant with a 4g63-t motor. Vr4 stands for the drive train platform, both 6th gen galant vr4 and 3kgt vr4 were awd.

The 6 speed trannys had long gears and the earlier 91-93 5 speeds had even longer ratios! My 6 speed hit 70-72mph at the top of 2nd, about 110-115mph at the top of 3rd, 140-145'ish at the top of 4th, and 5th I never wound out completely but hit 170mph according to the speedo. I believe someone drew out the theoretical speed-per-gear chart that predicted 6th speed at redline would be topping out at 240mph, hard to recall exactly since that was about 10-15 years ago on the 3si.org forums.

@blown0883 hell yes these cars came out in 90s when rx7,fairlady z, supra came out they are all tt and pretty bad ass. but side of the rx7 which this is up for debate the vr4 is one of the best handling cars for the money plus they are half the cost of a rx7 now adays

Got a question for you. At 2:09-2:17 when you're about to launch, you're doing something with the handbrake. I noticed my friend does something similar before he launches his RX-7. Are you taking up slack in the drivetrain?

how much faster is the car at 15psi than 9psi? in the vid you looked pretty quick but how much of a difference did the extra 6psi make? im thinking about ditching my 13T's for a single turbo borg warner s475...

ey man, what exhaust sytem you have?? it sound sick!!
@v2mmxst1012 жыл бұрын
Stock waste-gate duty cycle is load-based, so it will fluctuate depending on ambient conditions. That's why every VR4 seems to have different boost when stock. Under typical conditions 1st Gens (91-93) push ~10psi, while 2nd Gens (94-99) push ~12psi. 14's a bit on the high-side though... lol, maybe he lives in the mountains and it's 110 degrees?
