This is a very important comment about this "Size For Seventy" video. The important takeaway is NOT following the exact diet that Chris shopped for here. Instead, it's the basic idea about HOW to show for food strategically and smartly. Many will probably say that they will use this specific diet or wish that they could afford this specific diet in their region/country (or that $70 won't go far where they are). That's not the point. The point is, whatever your budget, taking into account your income and where you live, if you shop smartly, you can stretch your dollar. So take the core lessons presented here and create your own custom grocery plan. That's the main takeaway.

+UniversalUSA77 Go to Costco, you can get 20 lbs of frozen chicken breasts for $15....Let's say you ate 2 meals with 6oz of chicken breast a day...That will last you a MONTH of LEAN chicken breast for a month for frickin $15... Have one 6 oz beef meal a day? You can buy 2 2/12 lbs of LEAN Top Round steak for $18...That will last you the whole week! OR you can buy 5 lbs of ground beef 90/10 fat for $9 in place of the steak....That will last you 2 weeks for your BEEF MEALS! You can buy 10 lbs of oats for $7 which should last you 2-3 months....You can buy 10 lbs rice, that will also last you 3 months for $9.... You can buy a 60 PACK of eggs for $7....If you have a cup of egg whites a day (8 eggs) + 2 whole (10 eggs).....That will last you a week for $7.... You can buy 4 lbs of ground turkey for $15.....That will roughly last you 2 weeks for a turkey meal..... This covers all your meats, a lot of your carb meals, basically the CORE of your meals..... So if you do this the CHEAPEST way possible with the ground beef 90/10....This is a MONTHS WORTH of meals for $95!!! 95 / 4 is only $23.75 A WEEK!!! No excuses.... This is even 1/3 the cost of $70 a week....Come on, $23.75 a week? $3.39 a DAY to have TOP QUALITY protein sources and nutrient dense food??? NO EXCUSES HERE!!!

Like the Animal videos, this is pretty useful. At first I thought it was wasteful to shop every week, then I realized how fast food goes bad past the first week. I also might add Sam's Club or Costco for chicken breasts. Since it's frozen, you can get a LOT for under $20. And if you have a local Aldi's, you can get food for super cheap there. Seeing the meals being made is great because almost every bodybuilding magazine/site shows very specific individual meals that cost just as much as the weekly ones. Thanks Universal!

This is by far the best video out of the size for seventy and big on a budget series I've seen so far. Too many of the videos the person didn't much if any research at all, and just went in and winged it which often lead to relatively bad meal options. Too often it was "muh protein, gotta get muh protein" and they go in and spend 80-90% of their budget on something like boneless skinless chicken breasts which left them with very little money so the rest of the diet ended up being bland and boring as fuck. For example - Antoine doing chicken and rice for LITERALLY every single meal. Are you serious? Antoine has a great personality but that video was absolutely terrible and reminded me of the old paradigm of the 90's (muh chicken and rice!). Chris did research before hand, set macronutrient goals for his meals, and spent time making comparisons and deciding how to stretch his money as best as possible while at the same time composing a balanced meal plan with good variety. He did not neglect his micronutrients which 90% of the other videos do, and showed even on a budget there is room to include foods high in them in while not compromising your major macronutrient goals within the given budget. He also gave great tidbits of nutritional information here and there, and actually talked about the macronutrient breakdowns of the meals, which not all the videos in this and Animal's series did. Good video.

Chris, please check time 1:47. Are you calling that a bread? Bread needs flours, water and salt. I am sorry but that what was in your hands was more like a food additive mix in a form bread... All the best :)
@christuttle64879 жыл бұрын
+liipasin89 I am very confused on what you are exactly asking. That is potato bread. It is made with flour. It says bread on the label, just calling it like it states. It may technically not be a "bread" but some viewers may not be as advanced as you are to understand that. Plus the point the video is to provide enough food for the bodybuilder or athlete on a budget.
@liipasin899 жыл бұрын
+Chris Tuttle Well, to be honest, I wasn't asking anything. I was just, actually impolitely, questioning that do a bread need as much food additives as is in this bread on 1:47? It has 13 to 23 food additives, depending on how you count it. It sounds a lot for me. Ok, I understand that when someone is trying to stay in the budget it's almost impossible to get foods with small quantity of food additives. And in US it's harder than here in Finland I quess. But to be realistic it's same everywhere. I mean food additives everywhere. Well, you may ask like myself that do these additives harm us or not? Though there is many research made which prove that e.g. aspartame in small doses should be safe we can't be sure of coctail effects of thousands food additives. And we will ever be. So, personally I am not taking risks. I avoid all food additives I can. My biggest lose might be money lost but my health appreciates it. Chris, I know you know a lot about this subject so could you do a video sometime? I would appreciate it. In the end, I just want to everyone to be health and not be cheated by food industry. Thank you for you videos and I hope success for you in your future challenges.
@UniversalUSA779 жыл бұрын
+liipasin89 On a budget you make do with what you can. It's never going to be perfect. When your budget is unlimited, you can obviously make different choices. Unfortunately, few of us are in a position to buy whatever we want without looking at prices.
@christuttle64879 жыл бұрын
+liipasin89 Oh gotcha! I understand! Oh ideally you should reduce or eliminate food additives as much as possible. I use Ezekiel bread or just plan steel cut oats mainly. Unfortunately there is a lack of solid evidence to suggest that these food additives are either safe or unsafe at this point. it is really a gamble. Some are more riskier than others of course. For example, the FDA's GRAS list (Generally recognized as safe) such as aspartame if consumed under a certain amount per day. Again, we take everything with a grain of salt. We do the best we can at avoiding or minimizing the dangers. However, the biggest dangers that we have no control over and that everyone over looks is air pollution. There are tons of metals and chemicals in our air. Especially if you live near a populated area or city. Again you are rate minimizing foods with such food additives is a good idea. Most people do not care and are looking for affordability, taste, and hopefully nutrient content. Thank you.
