This is what people struggle to see. It isn’t all about technical abilities and speed, and they compare him to Van Halen. People say Slash is overrated, no. Back in the late 80s early 90s only hardcore GnR fans, those in the biz, and musicians really appreciated how talented Slash is. Luckily the mainstream picked up on this and Slash has gotten the credit he's truly deserved. And since then he has aged like a fine wine 🎩🎩🎩

To me, a good rock guitar solo is not about showing off how fast you can play scale exercises. It's about putting that song within a song. Feeling, melody, emotion, and personality are way more important than histrionics and flash. A great song is not about the number of lyrics that can be crammed into each measure, it's about the feeling the song evokes in the listener. No different with guitar. Slash is a master at this.
