Vessels voice is an instrument and he treats it like one. He plays with it, uses it for percussion (the Tsss on the end of words), sets the rhythm with it etc. He's not just singing something well he's shaping it as he sings it.

Much like MJK in that respect. Not saying they _sound_ the same mind you. Vessel has this 'mouth full of bees' quality to his vocals, and that's not a criticism; I really like it. His clean vocals, especially in his lower register actually remind me a bit of Dave Gahan.

I’m always in awe of people who can hear a song and pick out the effects that are being used. I can catch reverb because it’s obvious, but that’s about it. So, “the band” is Vessel and II. They’re the full-time members. The bass (III) and guitar (IV) players are touring members. In the studio, everything that’s not percussion is recorded by Vessel - guitar, bass, synth, piano, glockenspiel, whatever. Vessel also writes everything except percussion. IV definitely plays 8-string Jacksons, too. I believe those were the only gaps my limited knowledge can fill in. Loved your analysis, as always!

I think II and IV are permanent members now. There were different musicians (including a woman on keyboards) playing those parts up until 2020 and then the current guys come in. It's also interesting to note that I believe the "original" III and IV recorded on One, Two and Sundowner It seems that the line-up solidified after Eden exploded and everyone got personalized masks and insta accounts. FYI, IV does the scream/growls live and Vessel does the clean vocals...but only live, in recording, it's two tracks. Also, II plays on electronic drum pads and some kind of programable bars for the funky bits...no electronic tracks (see the Drumeo video). All info is provided by spoiler sites that list the real names. Don't go if you want to lose some of the magic. ☹😥

One thing I've noticed in their songs is that they quite often reference the start of the song towards the end or literally as the final notes. They will also keep the opening sounds going throughout the entirety of the song. Sometimes changing a little, other times keeping exactly the same. It's subtle and in the background but it keeps you hooked and mesmerised without even really knowing why.

On this song they are using a 30 inch scale 6 string baritone by Gretch guitars (G5260) . I own this guitar also. You can go very low with it while maintaining great tension. Sounds very clean. But the secret to their clean lows is actually the bass guitar. Their bassist isn't tuned as low as the guitar. I believe he's in B standard. It's the bass being at a good audible frequency is what gives room for the guitar to sound tighter. Using a 5 string bass tuned that low would sound very different. In fact he's using just a 4 string bass guitar.

great one again, keep up the realness! and i encourage you to listen to ep's then sundowning then this place will become your tumb and then take me back to eden. so much goes into his work you won't even believe. for example, take me back to eden the song is end for the album and that is why its like that, then there is euclid that is end for 3 of the albums and it has literally at least 5 references to his previous songs. if you dont have the time or just dont wanna do that, then my suggestions would be : the offering, alkaline, atlantic, bloodsport(from the room below version), the apperation, calculatta, fields of elation. honestly if you dont wanna react to them again just listen to all of their work 3 times and you'll worship sleep!
