I could feel your passion through the screen! I’m in my 1st week with cpap. What clicked for me is when you said I’m only practicing at night. The last 3 nights I spent over an hour moving the mask, straps, tossing & turning…sleeping worse than with my moderate apnea lol. I will keep going. I’m 34 & I can’t wait to feel what it’s like to feel awake and alive.

Thank you! Your goal is to practice during day and off ours if able, here and there. So you can get to sleeping longer and eventually through the night. The more you practice and get familiar and comfortable with the mask and pressures, the longer you will wear at night. You will get there just don't give up if you need to find another mask please do.

Thank you for making this video first night using this the night before and it sucked! My expectations were I was gonna fall asleep like a baby and wake up and smell the coffee with my nasal pillow mask. 30 years of breathing on my own and now a sudden switch yeah it’s gonna take some time adjusting. I use it during the day for practice and it’s getting easier. Hoping and praying for all to get a goodnight rest with this cpap give yourself grace as he says 🙏🏼

Yeah, people need to be graceful with themselves and not get discouraged because they can not use right away for hours at a time. They will get there for sure.

You are sooooo right. Towards the end of the pandemic restrictions the hospital sleep study clinic had reps from the companies who supplied equipment to distribute and man the walk-in clinic. The DME rep was very upfront with me. He stated that some people hit the ground running when first using the machine, others experience problems. He also told me that there’s hundred of masks out there, so if you have problems you can always ask to try other style masks.

Thank you so much for this video. Your video was so uplifting and reassuring. I started CPAP therapy back in 2017. I did pretty well for about 3 years or so. After that I’ve struggled with my CPAP therapy. I have a deviated septum and some congestion due to mild allergies. I have yearly checkups with my NP. I have the dream station 2 replacement. I use the res med swift fix nano which covers just my nose. I have to use the wide size in order to get more air space bc of my dev septum, etc. so bc it is wide, I get air leaks that cause me to take off the mask in my sleep! So I have ordered and recd a liner. I will be tying it out tonight but I will PRACTICE like you said. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 😊

So happy you enjoyed! Yes, I know it is a struggle for sure. When you get the leaks is it making noise that causes you to take off? Or is it causing you to feel suffocated? If you are comfortable as far as the nasal breathing, I would maybe recommend a Nasal Pillow of some sort. Since that mask has the least amount of leakage because there is no seal for it to leak from. Please let me know, maybe I can walk you through different situations to help find the right mask.

@@Sleeplayground wow thanks for your response! I tried the pillows and they didn’t help at all unfortunately. Sometimes I think maybe I should try a full face mask again… Its both noise and it blowing out into my eyes. Ugh!

@indygrammy like I said whatever is comfortable for you, because not everybody is similar with what is comfortablefor them. I would maybe recommend if u want to do a full face a Resmed F30 or F30i, one of the many hybrid full face mask. If you need the full face but do not want so much on the face like most, those mask are great options. If your still continuing with therapy I'm proud of ya, that is great to hear regardless. Like I said don't give up, let us know if there is anything needed please. I will try to help as best as I can. Have a great weekend!!

I’m a vet & get the machine, mask & all equipment free. It was hard at first till I found the right mask. They sent me literally three of every single mask they had & that make a HUGE difference. I needed a medium wide. The others cute ALOT of leakage. Bt once you find the right mask it is ALOT easier to sleep with. Wish I could give someone in need some of these dang ol extra mask I don’t need

how long do you have to wear a c-pap? Is there a point where you can stop wearing it?

Hi, Thanks for reaching out! Most OSA is weight related a lot of the weight comes from not sleeping. If you use and are successful and lose the weight you can get off the machine with enough weight. However a lot of patient's who have been on the machine benefit and enjoy the sleep and do not want to get off.

My first night, I gave up. Going to wait a week before I try again.
@Sleeplayground
@Sleeplayground 6 ай бұрын
Oh no! Don't do that, lol. I know it is a pain, depending the mask can cause some weird feelings. But if you use only one night, wait a week its gonna be the same thing. You have to practice when able. as consistent as possible. It's the way to go. If you practice, give it 2 to 3 weeks if you do not like you will know why and be able to advise the therapist, or whoever helping switch mask. Then they should be able to get you into the right one if not you've gotten used to the one you have. That is really the only way to be successful with CPAP do not make it a bad things make it a you thing for your health. Do not put so much weight on your shoulders if you can not wear the whole night or the whole hour whatever. It takes time, You have to get over the mask, it sucks but the results are life changing so it is worth it. Everyone goes through it so that should make you feel a little better, Just don't give up brother!

While it's important to manage expectations with reality, I believe using a CPAP machine can help you get a good night's sleep if everything is set up correctly.
