Theres plenty of room in that trunk for groceries. The sub box in my 2008 focus is bout 4 inches from the rear trunk and bout 6 inches from my back seat. Barely had room 4 my spare tire & jack 😅

Sounds similar to mine 😂 a single l7 with a cxa800.1 running 1ohm and it slams hard but the box sits on the rear seats with about 5 inch between boot lid and sub and just enough space for the amp to sit to the side bonus that I'm running side firing port thanks to one of your other vids when you tested side ports so it's free cooling for the amp win win 😂

I’m building the interior of my 73 Dodge van out. It’s a real shaggin’ wagon or custom street van replete with a cool exterior custom paint job I sprayed on it myself. It’s called the Led Sled and it’s a tribute to the band Led Zeppelin. Inside I’m building a wall between the “living area” and “bedroom”. The van has two stereo systems in it, a vintage system and a modern system. The vintage system has a NOS Pioneer Super Tuner AM/FM 8 track with a NOS 50W 10 band Audiovox amp/EQ and a pair of 6x9 Audiovox Triaxle speakers in back and Craig 6.5” speakers up front. The modern system consists of a set of Kicker CSC694 6.5” speakers up front and a pair of 6x9 CSC6934 kickers. I decided not to run a sub, but I am going to go with a 400w amp on the modern system. Head unit is a single DIN 200w Jensen CDC7011 with motorized flip out screen. This head unit offers me the ability to play CD or DVDs and rca outputs for video. I plan to put a small flat screen in to play DVDs of Led Zeppelin during car and van shows. Of course I’m mounting the 6x9 speakers in the wall between the bedroom and living room. I intend to build a sort of cabinet inside the wall for each 6x9 speaker, surrounding the speaker area. The walls are made of a 2x2 frame and 3/8” plywood and I will wrap the exterior in auto upholstery vinyle. I thought I would position a thicker piece of hardwood (walnut) directly behind the magnet of each speaker and add house insulation inside the enclosure. Watching your videos on building subwoofer cabinets, I wondered if I should add a small port to the Kicker cabinets. Is that a good idea for a 3 way 6x9 speaker mounted inside a wall? I was going to make the wall about 5” deep. The speakers are about 3 1/2” deep. Is that a big enough enclosure and area for the bass? Thanks for any advice you care to give me!

That sounds like a really big project, I don't have any specific advice for it.

I velcro'ed (so as not to damage the beautiful enclosure) some feet on to a Kicker dual 12" powered/passive truck box and turned it into a down-firing for the back of my 2002 Explorer. I'm surprised no one made a mass produced under-the back-seat sub for that thing since that model sold by the millions!

Looks perfect honestly. 20hz is always nice. Most prefabs are always shitty ported or PR slims that cant even hit 20hz. If they made this dual slim sealed for 600w to 1,000w that can hit 20hz at a reasonable level that might be a winner

Exactly what I was/is looking for. Still broke… But thank you. If it won’t fit under the rear flip down seats, they can lay on it. Providing a recommended amp is too kind. The day I have the money is the day I send a tip and buy from your links. Thank you

It's always nice to see more options for small spaces. How does this compare to the kicker options like the downfiring L7 12 or the CompRT 12 with the passive radiator in terms of loudness?

Not bad for a preload shallow mount. DD is the real deal. What the heck are you tryna carry around that makes you say there's no cargo space with the large ported box?!? That thing looks like it's taking up 50% of the cargo area if even that 😂

Another great review Dillon. Question, did that mic come with that Alpine head deck or is it sold separate but just happens to work directly with those Alpine unit, rather cool if so.

You're talking about the mic that's on the sun visor? Yes, that is the Bluetooth mic that came with the head unit?.

@@DIYAudioGuy Whoops, i watch it again to find you are using it on the laptop but the laptop is displaying through the head deck. I was referring to the mic on the seat, not the hands free one used for calls. Where did you buy that from?

So how does a speaker change its Ohms when its a 2ohm speaker. Does that mean no one can talk while using the thing cause when you talk the impedance changes like you said all excited!
@SaskGramCracker6 күн бұрын
Moving the cone changing its impedance lol
@DIYAudioGuy6 күн бұрын
There's a coil of wire inside the speaker and there's a magnet on the back of it. When that coil of wire passes through the magnetic field it generates voltage, it creates inductance, and it since it's moving, not static, the resistance that you measure with a multimeter will change. A microphone works exactly the same way. Only. It's used as an input device to record sound as opposed to a device to recreate sound. The ohm rating of a speaker is usually referred to as the nominal impedance. It usually correlates to the lowest point on an impedance plot for the driver. The actual resistance, which is called impedance in an AC circuit, will be different for every frequency.

No room? There are two types of people. People who "like car audio" and have space concerns, and people who "LIKE car audio" and make space for the audio and figure it out from there. I kinda like it so I removed back seat, preparing for a wall. As far as groceries, Ill make a few trips enjoying the windshield flex to and from the store. It's all about priorities

While something like this would be better than nothing, it's still pretty weak. If you play music it's going to be overpowered by all the other sounds even at low volumes.
