The TT RS always has a slight advantage over the RS3 due to it being approximately 100 kg lighter, which is a difference of close to 7%, which means that the RS3 would need close to 7% more power than a TT RS to match its speed. The fact that this OPF TT RS only matches the speed of the pre OPF RS3 would suggest that the TT RS indeed has lost some of its former power in my opinion. It could possibly become a bit faster still though, once it has done some more miles. Great and interesting video, thanks!
@Automann-TV4 жыл бұрын
Hi...have to disagree;) the weight advantage of the TTRS only pays off up until 100km/h and becomes almost obsolete once in motion. The aerodynamics make a difference, mainly due to wider tires of the TT RS compared to the RS3 we drove. We have experienced the same with S3 sedan & TTS...whereas the S3 always had better 100-200 times🤷♂️
@Zeruel82Mk24 жыл бұрын
@@Automann-TV I agree that the aerodynamics makes a difference at higher speeds, but as long as a vehicle is accelerating, both weight and power plays a big role. Acceleration = force divided by mass. This means that a 7% decrease in mass is just as useful as a 7% increase in power. EDIT: How much of the weight advantage that's negated by the extra air resistance and bigger wheels is very difficult to say though. Maybe it evens out at really high speeds?
@Automann-TV4 жыл бұрын
Totally right but your equation only works if you have 0% drag. For this weight difference it’ll likely even out at about 100 km/h...that’s why aerodynamics have more to do with the time than sheer power...or wind direction.
@Zeruel82Mk24 жыл бұрын
@@Automann-TV All videos I have seen would suggest otherwise. The TT RS always seem to be at least a bit faster even at higher speeds. Then again, your 2018 RS3 is also the fastest RS3 I have ever seen, at least in the 100-200 interval. Other RS3s usually seem to do 9.5-10 s in that range while yours did 9.1. So perhaps it's a bit unfair to compare with that particular one. Maybe you guys got lucky and got one of the fastest stock RS3 ever made? 👍

Yes, so many bad information in this video, unbelievable. 1. TTRS are always faster than the RS3 100-200 kmh, enough data to proof anywhere on the internet et cetera. Also a group called „Zeitenjagd 100-200“ on facebook2. The wheels of the TTRS - even though 20 inch- are lighter than the ones found on the RS3. And there is actually also a 19 inch option on the TTRS - actually as standard. 3. Video shows, that OPF cars are slower, as stock TTRS PFL run easily under 9 seconds 100-200kmh.

Banner Le is right, sorry Automann-TV, I got a TTRS pre OPF on my own, which is 100% stock, and which CORRECTED times are faster than your measurement in the video.. the other TTRS I know also.. every RS3 (regardless if sedan or Sportback) is about 0,3-0,5s slower stock than a stock TTRS 8S. Maybe it could help to correct the times and not just showing what the Drift Box says (Slope etc). The OPF (GPF) does make the cars slower ( TTRS with OPF about 9,4-9,6s and RS3 about 9,8-10,3s corrected), but not that much from 100-200. Above 200 it's different to the non OPF model cars. You'll see it when you dyno the cars, non OPF cars has a better line on top while the OPF car's line go down earlier.
@TheSpeedyGhost4 жыл бұрын
@@Automann-TV It is also the first time I have heard that a stock RS3 sedan/limousine (294 kW) should be faster than a stock TT RS (294 kW) - and I disagree... (as long as we are comparing pre-OPF with pre-OPF, or post-OPF with post-OPF). You are right that the optional, wider 20 inch wheels/tires (which I BTW guess most TT RS's have) is a disadvantage compared to the narrower and lighter wheels/tires on most RS3's. BUT on 2 other important factors the TT RS has the advantage, if you go by the official Audi technical data (...i.e. not taking into account various optional equipment): Weight and aerodynamics. The TT RS is approx. 75 kg lighter than the RS3 sedan (limousine), which helps at all speeds - and its drag area is smaller (Cd x A = 0,67 vs 0,71 m^2), which helps increasingly at higher speeds. The TTRS numbers are with the standard 19 inch wheels, though I am not sure which rear wing/spoiler; I am guessing the fixed one, since this is the standard (the retractable/active one is a no-cost option). IMO it makes no sense whatsoever, when you say that the longer wheel base and/or "shape" of the RS3 sedan (limousine) should give it an advantage over the TT RS - care to elaborate on that?! The RS3 sedan's longer wheel base (or "shape", if generating more down force) might make it more stable than the TT RS at high speeds, but is doesn't make it faster. Your own numbers even prove that your TTRS (with OPF) is faster to 250 kmh (25,9 s vs 26,3 s), despite being slower to 200 kmh (13,1 s vs 12,8 s ... for whatever reason that might be). So, alone from these numbers (and combined with mentioned official technical data) I don't get it, why you are concluding that the "shape" (i.e. drag) of the RS3 sedan should be better. I think a couple of other factors might be influencing your measured acceleration times and leading to your erroneous conclusion, e.g. weather conditions (air pressure, temperature, humidity, wind etc.), slope, fuel tank content (full vs nearly empty), most likely also spread in ACTUAL power&torque in the tested vehicles. Maybe you have just been lucky and have a "golden sample", but there are also magazine tests where the RS3 sedan is way slower than yours, see e.g. www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/fahrbericht/audi-rs3-limousine-test-hockenheim-leistungsdaten/technische-daten/ (IDK the exact test conditions, but the measured RS3 sedan did 0-200 kmh = 14,5 sec ...but okay, acc. to the AMS technical data, that car was running 19 inch tires on 18 inch wheels, so... LOL :-D ) Anyway, simply put: If all things (EXCEPT weight and drag area, which by stock/design are different) were equal, the TT RS is the faster car, 0-100 kmh and 100-200 kmh - and anything in between or above.

@Zeruel82Mk24 жыл бұрын
@@Automann-TV There is something very strange going on in that video in my opinion. Carwow have previously tested two RS3. One grey 2017 hatchback and one green 2018 sedan. Both did 12.2 s in the quarter mile. A bit slow compared to most customer cars in good conditions, which usually do 11.7-11.8, but both RS3 they used were low mileage press cars, and they most likely don't use a foot of rollout for their timing, so fair enough. Then, they tested (on several different occasions) a white 2019 RS3 hatchback which every time did 12.7, half a second slower then the 2017/2018 cars. They also measured 0-60 which was half a second slower than the 2017 grey one, and Mat noted that the launch was nowhere near as fast as in the previous cars. This causes everyone in the comments section to request a race/comparison between the two, and carwow actually listens (nice!). What happens in that very video is what's really strange: All of a sudden the 2017 RS3 is 0.3 s slower in the quarter mile while the 2019 one is 0.2 s faster, and they both do 12.5. I strongly believe that the only way to make this happen is a sneaky downgrade for the 2017 model and an upgrade for the 2019 one to make them equally fast. Who did this and why? Audi of course. They know millions of people watch those videos, and they obviously want people to buy the 2019 RS3. If it had clearly showed that the 2019 model is a lot slower, it would have hurt the sales of the RS3. Also note that the 2017 RS3 only has about 450 nm of torque according to the dyno in that video. We all know that 2017-2018 RS3 models have way more than that. That is what I think happened. But I'm open to other suggestions/opinions. 👍
@legendniggo33254 жыл бұрын

@@Zeruel82Mk2 its a very direct and good explained opinion but i disagree at two points. The first point is the time of both cars. As we know most cars have a bit more power than the technical data says but still some have a bit less. It could be possible that in the first test of 2019 cars they got a car which had less power than mentioned in the technical datas. As @Automann-Tv said the 2019 RS3 needs a bit more time to generate the full boost in the launch control. Same thing with the 2017 RS3. As the dyno confirms the 2017 RS3 has only 450Nm of torque (480nm stated in technical data).The reason for the missing power are in my opinion the press cars which were used in the tests. If im wrong correct me but i think the problem with the press cars is that the magazines want to feel the power instantly which means that the car dealer hands the cars to the press and they give full throttle after just 10km or something. What i want to say is usually you need to wait about 600 miles (1000km) to give full throttle because the motor parts need some time to fit each other. This range is not given in the press cars which has an effect on the engine power. Cars which have been driven this range usually have a bit more power and cars without the range have the power of the technical data or sometimes a bit less power. In the Test between 2017 and 2019 cars it might be that they got a well driven 2019 car and a badly driven 2017 car which would explain the same time in the drag race. I wouldn`t blame Audi for the results. If you would test 20 different cars in a big drag race i think there wolud be 5 different times. If im wrong in some points please correct me.
@legendniggo33254 жыл бұрын
@@Zeruel82Mk2 i`ve watched the video once again. So the reason for the better start for the Opf is the optimization of the transmission software. The kick down is a little bit fast than in the non Opf RS3. At speeds under 140mph (230km/h) the opf version is faster because of the faster kick down. But in higher speed sections the exhaust gas volume has a rising effect on the acceleration. Thats the reason why the 2017 Rs3 accelerates better at speeds above 140mph than the 2019 rs3. The Opf prevents the engine to breathe as a result of losing a bit of power.

Also leider viele Fehlinformationen in diesem Video!
@Automann-TV4 жыл бұрын

@Automann-TV4 жыл бұрын
@profbtg4 жыл бұрын
Also Sie machen sich lächerlich: Der cW x A Wert ist sogar niedriger beim TTRS nach Recherche mit 0,67 (0,32 x 2,1) als beim RS3 mit 0,71 (0,34 x 2,16). Also Bitte, wieviele Fakten soll man noch bringen?
@TheSpeedyGhost4 жыл бұрын

@@Automann-TV Ich meine damit, dass TTS und TTRS definitiv schneller sind (im Video sagst du ja "S3 and RS3 sedans were alway faster than TTS and TTRS"). Da bist Du falsch informiert.
