Merry Christmas! I'm currently sick (food poisoning?) and have spent my Christmas making this while sweating spinal fluid. Last year I was in hospital and over the year I've slowly recovered, but the best thing has been being able to make more videos and meet lots of new fantastic fans. I hope you have a great Christmas and a happy new year. I'm going to rest and be sick for a week. Also it's my birthday on the 28th. I'm really unlucky! What ever. I made you guys content. The one good I suspect you can say about this one is that it helped finance the production of "The Empire Strikes Back". If I recall correctly, Lucas needed to borrow to cover most of the $30.5 million budget for "Empire". So I suspect the sale to CBS for the right to produce and broadcast the holiday special was done to increase the cash flow for the production of the next movie. Principle photography for "Empire" began six months after the airing of the holiday special. I believe he didn't need to borrow another dollar again after the box office success of "Empire", and covered the production costs of the next four "Star Wars" movies with his own money.

I saw this when it aired, I was in 3rd grade. It had been a long time since I had a Star Wars fix (there were no video tapes of it back then) so you can imagine the elation of getting to see something new from Star Wars, and the devastating dissapointment that came from it...the whole sense of, "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS!?"
