Mindless eating, before I starting counting calories, I would just eat and I'd ask myself what I ate later on the day and I literally couldn't remember. Maybe because they were ignorant with the amount they eat and didn't know nor cared that their intake is not normal for anyone else. Tbf, when I started calorie counting I was shocked to see how much calories there actually are in some food and only then understood why I'm fat ever since I was 5, the only diet I knew before is just skipping meals. I've underestimated the amount of food I used to take (which can be anywhere between 2000-3000kcal) when I only needed 1500 to maintain (and 1200 to steadily lose) based on computation. Luckiky I learned and I'm down to 129 today, still hoping to lose 10-15lbs more.

I think a major flaw in the cupcake experiment is the apples aren’t presented in the same way the cupcakes are. They are in a bowl in the corner of the table, and the cupcakes are front and center on a plate. You got to present them the same or else you are changing more then one variable.

@@roseanderson3678 This factor is definitely what I immediately thought of, those apples are very unpleasant. The level of denial displayed on these shows is always astounding. I know as I used to do it myself...when I was overweight I convinced myself that because the vast majority of what I ate was wholesome, scratch-cooking the calories somehow didn’t count. Case in point, the giant roast in this episode, ‘But there’s loads of vegetables.’ Yes, but they don’t counteract the rest of it.

@FrostyApril
@FrostyApril 5 жыл бұрын
Yes and no, there is definitely a difference between what counts for a normal daily amount of calories for someone with these conditions versus the general public unless they throw in more exercise. The caloric recommendations being a standard 2,000 for some will make some people with these conditions overweight. Not obsese necessarily but still gain weight. Studies have also proven a link between previous obesity and a permanently lowered metabolism, meaning you can't just diet and exercise to maintain but need another level of vigilance and a constant caloric deficit. The amount of energy required to plan out meals and exercise for people with conditions that make you tired, depressed, irritable, and digest slower is a greater struggle and can fuel obesity. It requires more will and work to correct your weight than it does to prevent weight gain in the first place.

I used to weigh 320 and it wasn't until I got honest with myself and actually started logging exactly what I ate that I had success with weight loss. Now I'm at 205 and about to enter the "healthy weight zone" for the first time in my life. (I'm 35). It was not a pleasant process to be that honest with yourself, but it was necessary and hugely beneficial.

I hate all the "experiments" you can't judge people or prove anything by one food choice. People can be healthy eaters, know how to diet/lose weight, still pick the cupcake and not make the first two things untrue. You don't always need to pick the healthy option you can have a treat.

@@kat6536 Nope, counting calories sucks so I didn't do it. Lol. I just stayed within the guidelines: low fat, mostly whole foods (I will eat whole wheat pasta, and some dark breads), and plant-based. So that means instead of having scrambled eggs, I have scrambled potatoes with tons of veggies and no oil. Or this week, I have 3/4 cup oatmeal with strawberries, raspberries, and cranberries, 100% dark cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. I cooked the oatmeal in water instead of milk so completely fat-free. I can add some ground chia or flax seed or a sprinkle of sunflower seeds if I want. For lunch, I made goulash without meat. Last week, I made a pizza stew with all the base pizza ingredients minus the cheese and bread. I used potatoes in the stew and it was very tasty and filling. I also bring fruit for snacks.

For the Americans out there: The difference between whipping cream, heavy cream, and double cream is the amount of fat. Butterfat, also called milkfat, refers to the fat content in dairy products. Whipping cream contains 30% to 36% butterfat. Heavy cream has a butterfat content of 36% to 40%. Finally, double cream, with the highest fat content, ranges from 48% to 55% butterfat.
