Tbf, when I started calorie counting I was shocked to see how much calories there actually are in some food and only then understood why I'm fat ever since I was 5, the only diet I knew before is just skipping meals. I've underestimated the amount of food I used to take (which can be anywhere between 2000-3000kcal) when I only needed 1500 to maintain (and 1200 to steadily lose) based on computation. Luckiky I learned and I'm down to 129 today, still hoping to lose 10-15lbs more.

The level of denial displayed on these shows is always astounding. I know as I used to do it myself...when I was overweight I convinced myself that because the vast majority of what I ate was wholesome, scratch-cooking the calories somehow didn’t count. Case in point, the giant roast in this episode, ‘But there’s loads of vegetables.’ Yes, but they don’t counteract the rest of it.

The anger is just a cover for despair. Changing eating habits in a western culture is extremely difficult. Junk food is convenient, inexpensive and hyper palatable! Our food is literally engineered in a laboratory to be addictive and cause overeating. Not to mention the misinformation being touted by psuedo diet experts who are Ph.D. doctors instead of medical doctors. Then to think, Kate probably has been studying dieting for years to be told that everything she knows is wrong. It's a hard pill to swallow.

For the Americans out there: The difference between whipping cream, heavy cream, and double cream is the amount of fat. Butterfat, also called milkfat, refers to the fat content in dairy products. Whipping cream contains 30% to 36% butterfat. Heavy cream has a butterfat content of 36% to 40%. Finally, double cream, with the highest fat content, ranges from 48% to 55% butterfat.

I used to be borderline obese but I was fully aware why I was fat, I overate and couldn’t be bothered to stop. @FrostyApril5 жыл бұрын
Yes and no, there is definitely a difference between what counts for a normal daily amount of calories for someone with these conditions versus the general public unless they throw in more exercise. The caloric recommendations being a standard 2,000 for some will make some people with these conditions overweight. Not obsese necessarily but still gain weight. Studies have also proven a link between previous obesity and a permanently lowered metabolism, meaning you can't just diet and exercise to maintain but need another level of vigilance and a constant caloric deficit. The amount of energy required to plan out meals and exercise for people with conditions that make you tired, depressed, irritable, and digest slower is a greater struggle and can fuel obesity. It requires more will and work to correct your weight than it does to prevent weight gain in the first place.

Fair enough. But also, to be fair, some of the people they interviewed were a bit husky to full on overweight. Could they be on a diet and losing weight? Maybe. All of them? Probably not.

It's not going to end there if you're almost 270lbs. Just saying...

I don’t even like grannysmith apples so I’d take the cupcake just based off of that. If it was a red delicious apple, that’d be a different story
