In EU with 799€ its a price increase of 350€ from the PS5 Slim Digital (including Taxes) So from PS4 to PS4Pro it was a 100€ price increase. When i got the information right the Disc Drive upgrade plus Stand, that is not included in the ps5Pro package, will cost an additional 120€ if i want to use my discs on the pro. That makes it a 920€ (1014USD inc Tax) console. They are out of there minds. Absolutely crazy.

The sad fact is that I can probably can put together a PC to play all the potential next gen stuff at 1440p for 400 bucks, but the problem is to stay on the leading edge you have to keep dropping 200-400 bucks on GPUs and processors here and there, unless you're willing to play everything on medium quality (which is basically just like sticking with the old PS5) and not to mention dealing with Microsoft windows (ugh), unless you go the Linux route, which is playing in hardmode, even with stuff like Bazzite and other game focused distros.

Real, built a rig back in 2019, haven't upgraded yet. Still rocking a 2070s with an i7-9700kf clocked at 3.6, 16gb ram at 3200, and a 1tb ssd. Thing is still tanking things like a champ, granted I may have to move somethings around now, so it may not play 1440p ultra, 1440p high is fine still.

Also, not for nothing, it is technically a special edition console which typically comes with a slight premium and is really only meant to sell for people who want a unique looking xbox. There is a discless xsx coming out for 449 and you can find the 1tb expansion cards for about 100 since they are usually on sale somewhere. Until MS announces their own new hardware or whatever they are doing with rumored handhelds or xbox pc, we won't really have an apples to apples comparison.

The problem is that these companies do not want you to own your own games. When you buy a digital copy of a game, that game is not really yours. What I personally always did was buy my physical copies, then after I was done, i would just sell them on Ebay or something. I don't do digital games.

When you consider that a game they they're still charging you 40 bucks for a 3rd party physical copy on console can often be gotten from 10 or less from a PC digital retailer it's getting harder to justify being a physical only gamer. When I first got my PC I used the same metric I used with PS3 digital titles because of the potential loss of support after the system life ends: So nothing over 10 bucks without multiplayer support which mean mainly indies that didn't have physical versions, and I amassed a Steam library of over 300 games in 3-4 years between $5 indies and free/discounted (previous gen) AAA games without even trying.

Playing games on consoles is just much easier. You just start the game and play it on console, but on pc you have to adjust like every single setting in the game menu to make it actually perform and look good and then sometimes change a setting on your pc and the change something in the software for the gpu. I have given up on pc gaming after 20 years, because it's just a hassle all the time. Also gaming on pc is soo dang expensive the last like 4 years so my current pc for gaming is my last, and I will go back to console gaming starting with the PS5 Pro.

Not to mention Sony keeps releasing their first party games on PC anyway now, _and_ they're pushing consoles to be more like PCs. Soon you'll be adjusting just as much stuff on the PS5 as you didn't want to on a PC. As it is the PS4 and 5 already have you setting resolution, and post processing effects, audio, and wifi networks. If you go for the pro, good luck, but you could have just as much fun without it.

Save your money and put it towards a gaming pc. I recommend waiting for holiday sales for anything that has to do with pc gaming. I purchased my first ever gaming pc last year at BestBuy and I love it! During the holiday black friday sales, the gaming pc i was looking at went from $2,500 to $1500. There are great prices even under $1,500 that will exceed what a PS5 Pro can do. My next time around, I'm not buying a prebuilt, unless there is a crazy deal during the holidays. Building your own pc will always be cheaper. My biggest tip would be to build your pc around your display. If you're a console gamer, and you've only got 120Hz refresh rate on your LG C1 OLED TV, like I do, then buying the best of the best computer will still limit you to 120fps. You don't need that much power! If you want an OLED high refresh rate monitor, that monitor is going to cost you more money than 2 PS5 Pro's combined. We're talking $1,500+ for 240z OLED, and is way too expensive for someone just getting into pc gaming. No one needs refresh rates that high. Plus, as a heavy console gamer myself, 120fps is a big deal. It's transformative and 120fps is all I need. 120fps is all that you need. My computer can clock past 120fps, but because my LG is locked to 120Hz, so 120fps is all I get, and I'm perfectly happy with it. I actually overpaid for my pc. People need to stop thinking about $2,500 - $5,000 dollar gaming pc's when those machines are designed for people who are creating games using Blender. The average consumer should be targeting between 60 to 144fps. I believe LG has a new 144Hz 55" or bigger OLED tv, so if you've got one of those bad boys, you could bump your graphics card up a notch to hit that target, but it's really not required. Do not buy a 4090. Do not even think about a 4080. It is a waste of money. If you want more frames, then buy Lossless Scaling on Steam for $7 dollars which is Ai software frame generation that has been proven to work better than FSR 3 frame generation. I use it, and it's probably the most impressive piece of software I've ever seen. There is a 2x frame generation mode, a 3x frame generation mode, and a newly update 4x frame generation mode. It's amazing and it works with any GPU. What is so incredible about Lossless Scaling is that because it's software based frame generation, it means that if you do own something like a 4090, you play Elden Ring at 240fps at 4x ai frame generation. Well above 120fps for any other video card you've got. You don't even need to upgrade your current GPU if you've been thinking about upgrading. But, this comment was made for those who are interested in getting into pc gaming for the first time. I'm just throwing out some options to get you up to, or past 120fps, if you wanted to, by simply using Ai-based frame generation software. You can turn it on anytime you want. There are so many options with pc gaming, and do not feel overwhelmed. The most popular place to pickup parts is PcPartPicker who will guide you through the components you need, where they track only the best sales based on each component you pick. It's very easy to get a build that will cost only a few hundred dollars more than a PS5 Pro, but is way better, that will last with the ability for upgradability at any time, as games become more power hungry. Save your money up until November 29th, which is black friday, and you could get amazing deals that are just not possible to find right now. There is no rush to upgrade either. If I have still not convinced you to not purchase a PS5 Pro, well good luck finding one. It's going to be a 2020 PS5 shortage all over again. Just you wait. Sony fans are not going to be happy. You better get that preorder in. I'd even recommend checking for PS5 Pro stock 2 days before the official preorder date. Sony, screwed up the last time with the original PS5 preorders, where all preorders were already done a few days before, and people got screwed. If Sony did it once, they will do it again. Bottom line is this... 1. Save your money and put that money towards a gaming pc. 2. Purchase the best Steam Deck that will cost less than a PS5 Pro. The Steam Deck is what helped me transition to PC. There are hundreds of thousands of games you've never heard on on Steam because they aren't available on these consoles. It's a kickass little machine. 3. Or, just wait to buy 10x $70 dollar PlayStation blockbuster exclusives titles for $700 bucks.

I get it's an enthusiast device, like not at all targeted towards me and anyone else who already has a PS5 because the improvement is so incremental, but this sets a really unnerving precedent about next-gen, especially if the idea is Xbox is so deep into multiplat at that point that PlayStation is basically left completely unchecked in the premium console space Also that $399 Switch 2 is looking real attractive right now lol

You can get a pretty solid mid range prebuilt PC for this price. The benefit of console has largely been that it provides solid and reliable performance for less than the price you'd pay for a PC, but when you're walking up into PC costs, people are going to have wonder why they'd pay that instead of just getting a PC that is far less limited.

How? PC towers, like mine, have the motherboard installed vertically and run for many years. My PC, a 2017 HP Envy, is my only gaming platform and I use the PC every day for watching KZbin, playing movies and games. The only things I have replaced are the GPU and the PSU which was necessary for the GPU, not because it was bad or stopped working. If the motherboards on the consoles can go bad by placing them vertically, that is either terrible design, poor quality or planned obsolescence (designed to fail under certain conditions).

The only time I bought a mid-gen refresh was when a family member wanted their own Switch, so we were buying a second unit and got the OLED upgraded version. Or when it was the first version I was buying in the generation, like with the 3DS, as I started with the XL, which was the mid-gen refresh. I think they even had a second refresh, with the NEW 3DS XL, which I also ended up buying, for the special Legend of Zelda gold edition, with the C-stick, so I could play the games that required it. That was more an update of a hardware requirement than just a "refresh," though, and it was $200, which is much, much more affordable than $800+, so I didn't feel as bad about it.

Honestly, the best thing about PC (with VRR) is being able to just randomly pick a number to set your frames too and as long as it's a steady frame rate you're ok. E.g. If my game can't hold a stable 120fps and keeps dropping intot the high 80's causing a lot of stutter I can lock my frame rate to 80 or even 85 for a much smoother experirence than 60 but without having to compromise on my graphics

Just wanted to say, don’t ever feel guilty for buying a prebuilt pc. I love building computers, but I can 100% understand if someone just wants to buy something that works out the box, and these days often ends up cheaper with the discounts prebuilt companies get on gpus. I like cars, but I’ll always just buy the ‘sport’ spec rather than upgrade a base model myself. Anyways, random tangent over, really enjoying your stuff man.

If you look at it. 67% GPU performance update, 2TB SSD, and Proprietary 3X Ray-tracing made by Sony and AMD. price to performance may be about right. but no disk drive is crazy. I paid 1200.00 for a GPU upgrade in my PC. you cannot build a PC with the performance for 700.00. I will be getting one at launch. Buying my drive and stand now. PS5 TFlop 10.1 to PS5 Pro TFlops 36.2. this a crazy upgrade. faster than Nvidia 3080ti. In a console! That's insane for a mid-gen refresh.

You'll spend big up front but then the cost saving comes with free online gaming and sales. Not to mention "next gen" will just be exchanging 1 or 2 parts. And you can hook it up to your TV like a console so that isn't really an issue anymore. Most controllers have native support too.

my current PC cost 1000, it gets 60FPS+ on all new titles, on Ultra with Full Raytracing. I can run Cyberpunk with full pathtracing,ultra. Now consider if i had purchased a PS5, then a PS5 Pro what's that 1200 ish Add to the Fact PC games are a lot cheaper, and the existence of mods, also it's a very capable PC For 700 you can get a PC that will outperform the PS5 Pro or at least match it. I am not limited by storage, or Sony's UI. I had a PS4, 600+ games, will never go back to them i don't even bother to use Frame Gen, but that's always an option for later down the road, i also can as games get more demanding , dial down from Ultra. So i expect to be getting 60FPS+ for years to come, in truth most games for me are around 80/90 FPS So i have a 20 FPS in the tank, the ability to use Frame Gen, DLSS, and go down from Ultra(which Ultra is not really that different from high, but does come at high FPS cost). So when the PS5 pro is reverting back to 30 in 3 years time for new releases, my PC will still be getting that 60

@@deoccultist i would first wait for the new Nvidia cards to come out as don't buy them, but they will put downward price pressure on exisitng cards. It's hard to say as a i always build myself , work out what resoultion you want, 1080p, 2 k, 4k Watch a lot of PC benchmark channels, they will will give you a good idea what you can expect at a certain price point. if you get into the weeds PC building can get confusing, i.e do you want Vsync, do you want RT performance over Raster performance, i.e Nvida v AMD. My specs are a 4070 super 32 GB Ram I5-124000F Numerous NVME drives , 6TB+ So above mid spec, but not crazy so So the thing that affects performance the most, is Resolution, i.e are you really wanting 4K , 2K I'm fine i don't need 4K as i game in front of a monitor 3 foot from my face, so a 4090 is not worth it. You don't need to go brand, i.e Dell, Alienware, anything like that. They will cost more for less. So you can get a prebuilt, or there are many sites which allow you to mix and match, say you want this GFX card, this much Ram and so on.they will add a slight premium, but not much and takes out the hassle of building it yourself So last bit of advice, wait till this pro comes out, see what it's actual real world performance is. Say Cyberpunk, then see what PC specs would match that, i suspect a lot of Videos will come out doing that exact same thing. I.e here's a PC that matches the PS5 Pro. Then decide to you wanna stick with that, exceed that or you say actually the Pro price point is fine I'm not anti console, i had a PS4 with 600 games, but what you can get with a PC and esp as my PC will outlast a Pro i suspect, i won't be needing to buy a PS6 in 4 years time. I think my PC will be running the games then at 60 maybe dial down some details. Which is other great point of a PC, a console you get 2 modes , perf and quality , on PC if a game is struggling to hit 60 , usually i have a multitude of options to tweak to get it past that 60 sorry for being so long. btw i have 30+ years experience in building PC's and have worked in IT for nearly 30 as well

I don’t think all the people complaining here are saying they can get a solid PC rig for the same price. Console players have different preferences and purchasing priorities than PC users. Most forgo better performance for the simplicity and convenience of a console, as well as good exclusives, so you need more than better specs to get those people to shell out for a mid-generation upgrade
