As someone who has one, if you’re getting one get the 7 inch one.

Great job Dave! Post track-day data analysis occupies hours of my time, but I've been able to improve my lap times dramatically because of it. This AEM setup looks like a good step up from the typical Aim Solos that are very commonly seen at the track. No matter what system you use, it all comes down to knowing what to do with the data once you get it on your computer. It's great you touched on being able to learn from laps that may not be your fastest outright, but contain a sector which was faster than your best lap time. I have a data logging system that logs steering angle and brake pedal force as well, and those go a long way towards developing the nut behind the wheel. More nerdy videos like this please!

Yep. This is awesome helping high-inform tool, but i really dont understand why is this so expensive. (I speak only for Russian region) For example, this dash cost about 1050$ in USA, then it goes to Russian dealers, where price jumps in to ~1200$. For basic nonlog version. Taking into account the fact that average salary in Russia is about 500$ (thx to the political people) it will be 5-6 month to buy a dash (still no log). :( Right now im looking for a digital dash for my track-car (lada 2108) and i think that do it by myself is the best way i can choose. Yes, i understand that salary in USA is higher and different conditions of life, but i want to believe that one day AEM and others make some budget dash for the Third World countries. :( With best regards your Russian fan (thx to you for reading my double waterfall of tears message)

Yes, things cost more when they're imported. Welcome to free commerce, komrad. If you don't like it, go get a government issued digital dash at the Beryozka store.

Guessing this is the NASCAR unit, as they don't seem to have the "see to right" option that I very much enjoy in the normal unit.

Thanks Pete and Dave for putting this out there. Even though you say it was a quick and dirty review, I found it to be very informative of some the things I would look for in a device like this. ie: I'm with you on needing customizable warning lights. Overall a great review !!! 👍

Dave: "I need lots of data for better racing." AEM service rep: "Ok, we have this great unit that will block the middle 7 inches of your entire windshield." Dave: "I'll take it!"

it was developed for nascar racing, where they only need to see out the left side of the windshield ;)

I like your review and product. But, Windows 7, make sure you get rid of that before the end of the year.

is this a paid promotion?

Yes, we got 1 MILLLLLION Dollars to test this... No AEM did not pay us for this video, they did send us the product free of charge though.

@@speedacademy you just described how reimbursement works. companies don't give gifts, and you'll have to claim it as income on your returns, so just say "yes, they paid us $1000" to do a promo spot on the dash".
