@ Jasprah Bluefeather totally agree with your comment the time these individuals search for their fix they can search for help and support some get vouchers for housing and are to drugged up to care to look for housing. These individuals make their own decisions. Life is what you make it! It’s not easy but you can work in the direction you want it to go.

Some people seem like they were destined to be drug addicts no matter what. Whether it be from trauma or just being predisposed, they accept their fates and go until they dont. But Michael seems like a guy that just made a few bad choices that had drastic consequences and led him down the wrong path. You can tell he's a sweetheart, there is still a soul in there and he knows this isn't the way to live. I really hope he can get some help. If you put this guy in a suit and told me he was a successful lawyer or something I wouldnt question it in the slightest. Michael if you're reading this I wish you the best!

I am a recovering alcoholic and IV meth addict. Over 7 years clean and 3 +years sober. I was shooting a gram at a time and using a 21 Guage point . I went through hell , complete psychosis and I lost everything. But one day while sitting in my tent in the woods, I looked at my dirty ass feet and skin and had enough. I walked 12 miles to the crisis center and turned myself into rehab. If I can get clean, anyone can.

My prejudice surrounding people who take the hardest drugs (crystal, crack, heroin etc) has been so dampened watching these interviews. I used to turn a blind eye when I saw them in the street, as if they were nothing like me and I couldn’t relate to them in any way. But these people are so intelligent, so compassionate and manage to keep themselves together (with the help of drugs) despite the unfathomable demons they carry every single second. Now I stop and talk to anyone, I want to understand their stories and learn from them, and also help if I can. Thank you for creating this platform mark, and bless all of these interviewees❤️

@@glockinshpiel well first of all congrats! Getting sober- and then maintaining it- is an incredible accomplishment. The odds are NOT in our favor, so never forget that. I know the battle all too well. The hard work that goes into it. And the fact that addiction is lifelong. BUT, we don't have to use. Its been 13 years since I fell in love with opiates. There were both periods of sobriety and of relapse since. Currently I'm approaching 2.5 years sober. Just gotta keep going & no matter what, never give up! 💜
@caseylynn5976
@caseylynn5976 2 жыл бұрын
@@glockinshpiel as for people who can hide their addictions well, I actually don't consider them lucky. Because I believe it often prevents them from getting help for a lot longer than others...and some never do, sadly. Some end up losing their lives, and we have all heard this- " nobody ever even knew they had a problem". But the whole idea of being a "functional addict" is one that I don't buy into. I think its very false & potentially damaging. Just because someone can, say, hold a job or keep up appearances, doesn't mean that their addiction isn't causing problems in other areas of life. Or, they're still suffering in secret, mentally/emotionally, or perhaps physically, like from withdrawals. The impact always becomes greater with time, regardless of whether it takes days, months or years...its inevitable. Because that is the nature of addiction. And if it doesn't? Well then I'd have to argue that that person is not , and never was, an addict to begin with. How could they be, when by its very definition, addiction is marked by an inability to control ones usage that results in life becoming unmanageable. That's completely contrary to the definition of "functional". Some people do not have the predispositions/ brain chemistry to develop an addiction. Now those people, I'd agree, are very, very lucky.

Poor guy, I can tell he's genuine. Dude has no friends living in a tent and tweaking to take his mind off reality and on top of it he contracted HIV. Life is hard and way harder for some, I hope this guy finds some peace, no matter what wrongs he's done he deserves it.

Mark, you were willing to try to help Exotic, but she didn’t possess enough honesty/desire. Would you be willing to offer this guy the same rescue plan, a way out, if he wanted it?? I’m certain donations would flow in for him bc there’s just such a potential success story with him. Please please…please let us know!!

such a likeable dude , genuine , handful of good qualities as far as character and does not look like a drug addict at all. he is in a really good shape . he is fixable , needs a support system to help him and of course a lot of love , understanding ,above all. i would be more than happy to offer him a place to stay , a warm room with tv for himself to feel comfortable in his own space , unfortunately , i am far away , in Athens , GREECE . i am sending him tons of positive energy and wish him all the best . would really like an update on him soon

In the treatment center, Michael must have been told that he had to go into rehab simply because of his HIV infection. With proper treatment and a different healthy lifestyle, HIV is no longer a death sentence. So it makes sense to wake up from self-pity and to grow up, not to use the parents' addiction as an excuse anymore, but to see setbacks as an opportunity. I hope for him that he goes into rehab and gets his life under control.

My brother did the same with me when I was using. He detached with love because he can’t trust that I can change. I did change. I have a son and stayed straight for him. He’s my biggest blessing & when I found out about him, I never looked back at my using life

I feel so sorry for all the introverted people in this world that with the "help" of drugs, felt more courageous and accepted in social circles, but ended up hooked on drugs! This guy is so honest and even lucid! I am so sad about him getting HIV! Michael, now that you were diagnosed with HIV, please, try with all your strength to get out of drugs! You are a guitarist man... living in tends you cannot even connect an amp. to play your guitar! Hot shower... fresh meals... a fridge... your bed!!! Please rebuild your life!! You are clearly very intelligent and kind and you deserve that life back. Your childhood was traumatic, but you can heal it up!! I am sending you a big hug!

The universe tests you every time you try and get your shit together. It will throw obstacles your way. But you just have to get past it dude! It’ll get better! I can relate to this guy, working at hot topic when I was 16 was like the coolest job 😂 I also got into drugs through the music scene in my 20s, but somehow I made it through. This guy can too! He seems like such a good soul. I feel for all of Mark’s interviewees and hope they get their lives back, but I’m REALLY rooting for this guy. He says he’s basically given up, but I hope he hasn’t. He can still get his shit together
