Everett, we went to school together and I remember you well. I know there's a lot of people here from Melbourne who care about you and want to help you. People trying to help you is what brought me to this video. I also became addicted to heroin for 13 years. I finally kicked it in 2012 and haven't looked back. By hearing you talk, I know that you can do it, especially with the help of all those who care about you still. Don't be ashamed to accept help. It helps others when you let them help you. I hope to see you again, doing well, someday soon. God bless you brother!

He could barely walk his feet was so messed up at the time, I’m so glad that there are good people who care about him enough to come look for him and take him to treatment back in Florida .I’ve been clean for over a year now off the fentanyl and crystal and not on the streets anymore. By the grace of God I was able to get myself into treatment for 90 days then a sober living for 6 months with my medi cal. Wish you the best Everett, thanks for sharing your story brother.

This guy reminds me of a guy I met in Berlin. I was on a train and sat opposite this guy who was taping together broken cigarettes. I watched him struggle with it. I had my last two cigarettes in my pocket and gave them to him, he just looked at me. Said nothing but looked at me for what felt like forever. I thought about him for the rest of the day. I bought another pack of cigarettes and went back on the train because I felt I wanted to see him again and I found him. Gave him two cigarettes and he did the exact same thing. Stared at me until I got off. This happened everyday for 4 days. I was on holiday. On my last day I did it again. Couldn't find him. I got off the train and he was on the platform. He said he was looking for me but thought I was part of a dream he was having. We hugged, had a cigarette and said goodbye. This video brought this memory back to me. Same posture and same look. Typing through tears. Always thought about this guy. I don't know why. I hope he's OK.

‘Finds the desire…’ will and desire are meaningless words to someone in this condition. I find it insulting to ask a fellow citizen to do something we know they cannot do alone or without help. Unfortunately this man needs new parents and family and friends, a new support system, along with millions of others. If we mobilize as a team we can help each other. Our country’s leadership needs to focus on letting go of lies, bitterness, vengeance. When we can trust one another in society, we are wealthy and free

It’s getting cold in LA, it was 35 degrees when I woke up at 5 to go to work this morning. I hope everyone was able to stay warm last night. Every tent I drive by makes me feel nothing but shame that there are HUMAN BEINGS living in them. I had a partner at work recently speak so negatively and harshly about the homeless, probably never volunteered in a shelter a day in his life. Let alone hear their stories. I just looked at him and said, “Since when did we decide these people were unworthy? At the end of the day, they’re still human beings that deserve better than they’ve been given.” and proceeded to not speak to him for the remaining twenty minutes of our drive. I was fuming.

I live in NYC and have been watching this channel for over a year now. I want you to know that these videos have made me view homeless and addicted people in a whole different light. I feel more compassionate now and know that everyone has a story to tell. The other side of the story is usually one fraught in disfunction and chaos, starting at a very young age for many of the people we see on the streets. In some cases, they didn’t even get a fair shot at life. This video touched me. Another recurring theme is the way society dehumanizes homeless and destitute people. All they want is to be treated with the simple respect that you would want for yourself.

I almost died trying to get off methadone at home going cold Turkey. It lasts SOOO much longer than anything else…i ended up NOT making it- got on Dilaudid, got charges, 5.5 years in prison- was completely off & RELAPSED upon my release. I was then on Suboxone for 8 years. It was over $1,000 a month and my living situation changed, could no longer afford it- THANKFULLY I had an addiction doctor in Phoenix take me under his wing and do the detox on me. I was basically asleep for a week, (and most of the following 2 weeks, lol!!🤣😂)- whatever, but I slept thru that worst part. Looking back now- I’m so thankful to just be alive…I watch marks videos and just wish I could bring everyone of them to my house…pamper them, get them a job- a clean bed, etc. so sad when people think there’s no one who understands or cares.:(
