SoHoo ebike review. Is it trail worthy?

We started at Balboa lake and rode to Woodlands. The trail was just short of 5 miles. For the most part it was smooth, but there were sections rutted out and some with large sharp rocks. There were plenty of long hills and a couple of short steep hills. The bike preformed well and we had a lot of fun.

I have the same bike. My throttle will go all the way up to 28 mph, although I have it set for 20 mph, but I made a thumb throttle using 2 zip ties wrapped around and covered that in black electricians tape and wrapped the tape around the extended ends and set it in the right place for thumb work and boy does that work well as a throttle instead of twisting that thing with your wrist all the time. However, as you said, you don't even use the throttle. I'm 72 and a life-time smoker, I don't have the breathing capabilities to peddle much, so I do use the throttle most of the time and my thumb creation works very, very well. You must have your throttle setting adjusted to only 10 mph, I didn't know you could do that? On another note: Have you encountered this problem... after only 55 miles of use I was out and for no apparent reason the battery just shut off, It did this 3 separate times. It was fully charged each time. I tried to talk to the Sohoo people, and man I got NOWHERE! None of these people speak ENGLISH. I had to order a new battery which I have not even tried out yet as I haven't been out since last Sept. So I hope that battery problem has been solved, and I can get some use out of it this summer, otherwise I was very disappointed with Sohoo, and they would not cover the new battery under any warranty... ("I dunt understnd, wat ur sayin") I ask... "Do you have anyone there that speaks ENGLISH?" (WAT, wat ur sayin?") and I could not understand a single English word they actually said, to me, it sounded like they were talking with a mouth full of rocks, that was a far as I could get with them! I wish now I had bought LOCALLY here in Canada. Anyway, have fun, I'll see how summer goes. (grins)

No battery problems after 2years. My throttle is my biggest issue. Sometimes it works but only 10mph. So it is worthless.

@@cuddysark1 Hua... As far as I can tell, everything actually works the way the instructions say it should work. I have everything set to default, although I might try adjusting the peddling to have less of a jump start. Sheesh! I did get one good ride of about 30 miles the first time out with no problems of any kind. It was then I realized the throttle needed a thumb press, so I put on my thinking cap and the first thing I came up with was the zip ties. Tried 2 of them and adjusted the position, and the next time I went out it was a Godsend to have that thumb press. The next time I went out I got 3 miles when the battery just quit for no apparent reason. Went home charged it again and tried again with the same result, not even an error message. I tested the levels from the bottom and realized it had 37 volts full charged, and it's a 48 volt battery. So I ordered a new one, and it measures 57 volts full charged as it should as there is always more voltage than the stated 48v when fully charged. But 57v? Sheesh! Apparently, you actually use the top 5-8 volts on these and with my mobility scooter dry-jell-cell 24v battery the top 3 or 4 volts is used on that mobility scooter. If the bike gets below about 44/45v you need to recharge with the mobility scooter, if it gets below 25v I need to recharge. Fully charged, it reads 27-28v Different batteries, mind-boggling results?? Mobility scooter is now 4 years old and not single problem except one flat tire. Actually my preferred, VERY, VERY comfortable RIDE with a top speed of 10 mph. A tad bit too slow, but I'll take it and because I can go ANYWHERE, in any store, mall, sidewalk, bus, train, even side streets, gravel trails, parks, beaches etc. no lic, no insurance, no registration, no parking problems, no seat belts, no helmet and no GAS! (grins) Best ride I ever owned! When new, the batteries gave me 17 miles distance. Now after 4 years I get about 8 miles in hot summer and 3-6 in winter colder temps. New batteries this year, me thinks? (grins) That's what I understand how these Lit/Ion batteries and dry-jell-cell batteries work. Yes, this is a bit jumbled because of editing and re-editing, forgive that. Hope this is helpful? Happy trails.

JR & CR enjoyed riding along with you. Too old to peddle and too crippled to actually do it.

What the difference between the Sohoo Ebike and the ones in your videos from 2 years ago? What is the latest ebike released from Sohoo?

I haven't done much research on the newer ones, but from what I can tell they have a 750W motor my is only 500W. Mine has a springer front fork, that is something I would definitely look for on an ebike. Hope this helps. I have 3 other videos on my bike you may want to view.

Not much info on the Sohoo bike, lots about the trail, lack off toilets, his partners non electric bike, gas prices. Not worth watching if you are looking for info on the SoHoo bike.
