Soilwork - Övergivenheten (Album Review)

August 19, 2022, Soilwork release there new album. Masterpiece is not too high of praise. Likely, the best metal album of the year.

Honestly I only listened the 2010's The Panic Boradcast album. But that played on my phone about thirty times in half a year. So I'll definitely check this album in the future. Thanx. I am glad I found your video. I agreed on everything you said 100%. Anderson and Sylvain brought different cultures and styles that worked really well for Soilwork. Overgivenheten’s intro is absolutely amazing. This is what Metallica should “sound” like in 2023 in terms of creativity. I totally understand how people got so disappointed with Lux Æterna.

Cool review, I'll check it out once it's released (only two weeks, who-ho). In the meantime, you could review The Warning - ERROR, released back in June. Mind you that the sisters wrote and recorded much of the songs on that album years ago, before the pandemic. I don't have the exact details but it means that the youngest sisters must have been around 16 years old, give or take a year.

damn i totally agree with everything you said. yet another huge piece of musical art. these albums since the huge living infinite are timeless (although i can't get into the ride majestic) . since they created the night flight orchestra, bjorn is not anymore a screamer king, he has become a huge singer with beautifull lines that shine on this album. David Andersson is a fuckin alien, i don't even get how he manages to compose for the two bands, handle some work forbthe bands, and be a doctor at the same time. surely there is darkness in this writing due to getting to 50 anxiety and divorce, as David stated in the itw videos, and whatever. i was wondering if they could top a whisp of the atlantic which will remain one of the greatest metal creations to me. i had the chance to have a little talk with sylvain coudret at the paris messhugah show and he had his part too in this. when listening ,every instrument from the voice to the keys to the bass (now really played by a bass player and not david) shine. great great album, again!

I've listened to it a couple times but I think I need even more to really appreciate it, some songs are really good but others are kinda boring, for me anyway. I've listened to Soilwork since 2002, but in my opinion their peak was The Living Infinite and The Ride Majestic albums. Lately they have more rock and heavy metal elements which is fine but not really for me. But I think Övergivenheten was better in that sense, so I think I like it more than the EP and Verkligheten so far

So is David a Satriani fan.....Morgongava/Stormfagel is a Satriani song to a T. What a fucking album, its hands down the best album in 10 years of any metal band.

This one surprised me. I prefer the early albums that have a lot more aggression, but this album is damn good. It still has a good bit of speed and aggression mixed with impressive clean vocals. Nice job. Finally, a new melodic death album I dig.

We must have listened to different albums 😅 it’s a good album for sure but it’s pretty standard Soilwork fare these days. It’s very repetitive and overly bloated.
