Exactly! Not enforcing the rules makes it worse and make the rules null and void. I like how the Ginger guard, not here at the moment, tells people to read the signs, etc. His authority is accurate.

Exactly. I have the utmost regard, respect and gratitude for these Guards/Troopers, but dude... say something!! I imagine these are the same people who go to places like Yellowstone and walk stupidly close to the Bison or go beyond the safety fence at the Tiger, Lion and Bear enclosures. The ones who touch live wires or pickup a blue-ringed octopus, or look directly into the sun or disobey no trespassing signs or following those ill-advised recipe videos on tic-tok and end up in the ER. Yes, Horses can be very gentle, but all it takes is one too many tourists up in their face or one wrong move or startling noise to set off a rocket that'll send these tourists to the ground like a ragdoll. And, I can guarantee you that those hooves hurt, bruise and can break your bones. A well placed headbutt can knock you unconscious or cause a brain bleed. People, pay attention.

I do think the soldier told the trooper to stop people from touching the horse. He even pointed at the sign as he spoke to him but he only enforced it with one tourist. Everybody else was allowed to touch. Silly.

This beautiful horse is so friendly. He seems to want to initiate some contact. That being said, it’s common knowledge that when an animal is working they should not be distracted by anyone touching them.

I simply cannot watch this any more...no real effort is made to keep the horses and guardsman safe ...the tourists are cretins in every sense of the word. The leadership is incapable or unwilling to control the situation. I love you all ..good luck 😢😢

I know it's an older video but I have questions. Are the guards given orders to stop people touching the horse, in which case why are they disobeying orders? If not, is it all at the guards discretion? Until they decide about the behavior they're going to display then it's all a waste of time

I'm becoming more and more unconvinced that white lines will do anything to stop the madness at Horse Guards, I only hope all guards and MoD police will stop this madness. Start enforcing the rules everyone at Horse Guards. The horses deserve to do their work in peace. Somehow crowd control needs improving. Good luck to all at Horse Guards with the new rules.

Watching this again was difficult… even tho a video it made me feel soo anxious. There is no way I would have been able to handle that fiasco in person! For some reason a crowd seems to take on a life of its own and can become quite unruly and dangerous. On a city street this crowd behavior must be controlled. I hope upon the re-opening we will see a well thought out and well reasoned approach - enforced by all authorities! Looking forward to a fresh new start!

If a trooper can’t control a crowd do his duties how does he preform as a soldier! this is absolutely laughable and like a circus that trooper needs to be taken off duty period! You don’t have to shout but be firm and do your job! All this money spent rules are clear and a stablemate has to come and take care of a crowd! It looks like if the guard won’t enforce the “keep your grubby hands off my horse” rule then the horse will. So who gets the blame once the horse has had enough and uses its teeth to “décourager les autres” as the French would say. Until some of them come away with a few teeth marks as a souvenir of their trip to Horse Guards cos they think the rules don’t apply to them then it’s likely that my hope of watching without shouting at the screen and my blood pressure staying below combustion levels will be dashed for the foreseeable future. Of course we don’t know what orders the guards have been given but, to me, it makes no sense for each guard to decide whether to enforce the rules or not. It seems pretty pointless having rules at all if they aren’t enforced. As well as being annoyed at the number of tourists who have forgotten to pack any manners or common sense I was also extremely concerned about how close some of those fools pawing at the horse got to its eyes. Especially as the horse was head tossing to throw them off but one idiot still had his hards glued to the horse’s face. So come on horseys - if the guards won’t do it it’s up to you. The sign says you may bite and, if they get close enough to annoy you, then it would be rude not to. Or at least a head butt - speaking from experience one of those would be powerful enough to knock someone off their feet. And relax - the trooper eventually found his voice to deal with the tourons. Let’s hope it continues and the horses can get through their hour in the box without being mauled by idiots.
