Before calling for warranty service on my Sole F80 treadmill, I watched some of Dave's videos to try and get a better understanding of what the problem could be. So when the repairman arrived at my house today I laughed and said, "Hey, aren't you the guy in the Fitness Technology videos?" Yes, it was Dave at my house performing warranty service on my Sole F80 and he was great! He replaced the motor, walk belt and speed sensor. He even helped guide me as I tried to repair my Life Fitness elliptical and it was a success! If you live in the DC, MD or Northern VA area and are unable to troubleshoot your Sole treadmill issues, I highly recommend Fitness Technology. Perfect timing! Just found your channel as I’m trying to figure out why my F80 won’t power up at all. From your videos, guessing the motor control board has blown, probably due to a worn belt. Hi Dave, your videos are great and I really appreciate your help. Like some of the other commenters, my 2021 SOLE F65 treadmill stopped abruptly during a workout. When I try to power it back on, I see the red power light but the display will not turn on. There is a solid green LED on the circuit board. I tried recalibrating but that doesn't work and have left the power cord disconnected overnight and tried again but nothing. There is a red flashing LED on the Bluetooth icon on buttons (I don't know if that's supposed to mean anything). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Well thank you, on newer units it’s hard to say. There not a lot of troubleshooting information. But normally if it happens while you are running the controller is bad over heated, normally due to walk belt wear . Are your parts under warranty ? If not you can send me your serial number to [e-mail] and the office will check. If you want send me your controller and I will test it

I bought a used Sole F85 in September. I really enjoy it. Recently it powered up fine, accepted the workout instructions but doesn’t start up when I press the Start button. The Stop button shuts it down just fine. What’s the fix for this? Thanks in advance.

Well depends when you hit the start button does it make a sound! And does the display change. And belt does not move? If button works then controller is bad. If start button makes no sound you could start with button.send me your serial number to [e-mail] so I can see what yours takes

Hi Dave, great videos, very helpful when troubleshooting. I’m still stumped with my F63. Hit start, no one on the unit. Motor starts, LED blinks with each rotation but I get an LS1 after 8 to 10 rotations, under 10 seconds, every time. Tested and adjusted the sensor, seems fine. Any ideas?

Hmm see my video on troubleshooting sole motor controller see if you are losing your PWM light when it fails. Something is dropping off signal. You could also run your motor off a battery to see your signal speed light drops off. That video is called testing my sole motor. Let me know

@@FitnessTechnologyServices Thanks Dave, I connected a 13v battery and the motor and belt run fine on their own with the unit off. I turned the unit on, connected battery, speed sensor blinks as expected, no PWM light. Hit the start button, connected battery, speed sensor blinks, PWM lights (dim due to low speed I’m guessing), and after about 5 seconds, LS1 error and PWM goes off. Same behaviour every time. Note the speed on the console never changes from 0.5, although at 13v I suspect it’s going faster. Anything stand out?

Well it is best to start with battery in strap . Then strap . Then receiver in console.This is last because it so hard !!!

Thanks for the video. I've been searching for a solution with a problem with my F85 2020 model. I can't get any audio out of it. Nothing through the speakers, headphones, or bluetooth. I've reached out to Sole and they just brushed me off.

Hmm this is going to be in the console or at least one of speaker boards , this is hard to get to .You have to remove the console back cover and order the board that goes to the speaker. I have never done it on a newer unit. Only the main display or whole console.You have to get someone at sole , They are normally pretty good These parts maybe under warranty even

Hi thanks for this! I just purchased and installed a f63 and we just used it for the first time and after 10 min. it stopped and E5 displayed. I turned it off then on and started it up again and after 5 min of light jogging it happened again. I can’t seem to find any info as to why this is happening on a brand new machine. Hey there. Back with another F85 question. I found a video showing how to get into the advanced diagnostics mode. For kicks, I entered the Diagnostics menu and it showed an error in the list: E80. I haven’t had any issues with my treadmill (since installing a replacement console). I can’t find error code E80 anywhere online. Do you have experience with that one and if so what does it mean?

Thanks for the great links. My problem is different. I’ve had an F85 for 1 month. Display prompted for update to software v1.7. Now the touchscreen is non responsive. Tried unplugging and replugging. No buttons work. Is there a way to hard reset this display?

Update: I installed the new console right after receiving it and it’s been working great. It’s now late 2022 and I still have software version 1.5. I’m afraid to try updating the tablet again.

My Sole F80 suddenly stopped when I was almost on it and gave low speed error. Replaced the speed sensor. Still does it. I have lubricated it. It still does it. I ran it for an hour at 4mph and it was perfect. Stepped on it to walk and it stopped after about 1 minute. Ive watched your videos about control board and all the lights and everything appears to work as you say it should in your videos. Can you point me in a direction to get this fixed please? Hi there, I have an F85 treadmill which is ~3 years old and has had moderate use. I get an E-6 error when the treadmill starts which I believe relates to the incline motor or sensor. I’ve tried to reset a number of times but the error persists. I have tried to diagnose whether it is the incline motor or sensor by disconnecting both the sensor cable and the red/white/black power cables to the main controller board and restarting, but even with the incline motor disconnected I get the same error. Do you think I need a new controller board, incline motor, etc.? Thanks!

Hello I have a new F80 and I am under the weight limit but just barely it was pretty quiet at 1st all I'm using it for is walking however now when I walk under 3 miles an hour it seems like the motor makes a noise on each foot stop is this normal it does go away or almost goes away at 3.0 and above. It was quite first week then started second week. Best way I can describe it is a strain or slight whine on every footstep.it does not do it with my wife on it. I am 6 pounds under weight limit. Well that’s a sign it’s at it’s weight limit. You should lube it for a start. But I would call sole so they know what’s going on with the unit

Just got the NEW model of the F63. Much different console for the 2023. I want to know if you can change the startup speed from 0.5 to 1 or 2 MPH ? I have looked everythere through the factory settings, if I'm doing that right.

No I don’t think you can change the start up speeds and incline are all preset in the newer models

Dave- within the past year, I 4:04 have replaced the motor, circuit board, the mat and flipped the deck on my F63. Today while 28 min into a run, it stopped suddenly, the screen went black then came back up. No error. Any idea what happened? I am 5’6” 150lbs and was running at 5.5mph on zero incline. I checked plugs and the emergency sensor and all were secure.

Hi Traci try running the unit with no one on it see how long it runs. If you can get the amps reading. Also do the walk belt test again. Send me your serial number again. The deck flipping is not always a permanent fix I think yours was on back order at the time

Hi Dave. I have an F80 well used 11 years old in Canada. Getting low speed error. Lubed belt and checked the speed sensor and it is flashing. Now wondering if it is the motor or belt. Runs well with no weight. Runs with weight on sides. Doesn't run well at all with weight in the middle. Is this older treadmill worth messing with further? Thanks in advance for your help.

Does the console look like it’s working fine all buttons responding! If so I would say the controller has shorted out when the belt gets worn out lube won’t help

Hey there! I have a f63 treadmill.. having an issue with a knocking/banging noise towards the back of the roller pin. I’ve already replaced the belt, the bearings in the back roller pin , & the circuit board, . I’m kinda at a loss on what to do to fix this, every video I’ve watched with the issue I’m having says to replace the bearings in the back roller pin which I’ve done so and I still have my issue of banging while the treadmill is running. Hmm on the speed dropping some then running normally this is mostly caused by the controller . On the E5 this could be controller also! But it could also be the walking belt needing lube and overheating controller

This is a good chance of the motor going bad . Maybe the controller? Does the motor make any tapping noise. I would start with testing the motor see sole motor test

@@melanyvest3357 Hmm with no one on it. That would lean towards the controller. But most controllers go bad due to walk belt wear causing overheating of the controller. You might want to do a walk belt test also

My Sole F63 powers up and I can set up an exercise routine. However, when I push the start button, it does nothing and reset after it goes 3-2-1. However, I opened up the lower panel and saw these number on the control board (CD3332256L00424) (YJ-2256L) & (A512-100723024/8500). In addition, it no longer goes 3-2-1, it now does nothing. I looked at the key, it was very rusty. I will try to somehow clean it and placed it back in but it is in really bad shape. If it is the console, what kind of price am I looking at to get it fixed? Would it be better to just buy a new treadmill?

The lower controller numbers don’t help on your issue .

Bought a Sole F63 today. When I finally finished setting it up, it runs fine, but there is a clicking noise that increases when the speed increases. Seems to be coming from the left side of the machine. I am hesitant to keep running it, but thought I'd try here before calling service dept. Thanks!

Hmm on the left side could be the speed sensor hitting the front roller. You would have to remove cover to see for sure

I ran it with the cover off to be sure nothing was rubbing or hitting the belt or roller. Not knowing exactly how it should look, I only assume all looks ok.

Well that sounds like a direct short on the AC side of the controller or a short on your outlet. I would be very careful on that one. Maybe you should get a service technician on that one

We bought our F80 brand new in June and were able to use it for two days until it started beeping constantly. It's not in Demo mode, and we have tried everything to get it to stop. Only thing that works is unplugging it. Sole has been no help at all, and leave me on hold for hours or hang up on me altogether.... Do you maybe have any solutions? Thanks so much in advance!

Hmmm this sounds like a bad console display. Or at least a short on one of the handle bar buttons.I would start with disconnecting the handle bar connections.But being so new you will have to call sole the # I use is 1800-258-8511 hope this helps I have not know them to treat customers badly

Hmm there are some units that squeak from the deck when running on this is from the deck mounting bolts to frame they are under silver side rails see video replacing walk belt if needed

Hi, I have a Sole S77, had is for quite a few years now. Unfortunately im unable to use it at the moment. When I turn it on it bleeps and the display lights up runs through software versions etc. All the programming buttons & fan buttons seem to work but when I press start its turns off and immediately turns back on again runs through the startup cycle again. I press start and the same things happens again and again. On the odd occasions it will run through the start up process and turn off its self and back on again with me not touching anything. I remember this happening a few years ago its did this a few times then it was fine. Do you know what the problem could? Thanks Wayne

I have a Sole F80 showing an E2 on the incline and the incline is not working. I pulled the incline motor and did a continuity test on the red, black, white power wires and found no continuity. Does this mean I need to replace the incline motor?

Well I have never been asked that question on the incline before? I just checked mine it was 22 OHMS on the red to white and 25 on the back to white

I have a new (2020 model) F85 treadmill. It's working fine, however, I went to do a calibration (after changing the units on the treadmill) and it started, the belt moved for a few second, and then a 'E-1 Error' appeared on screen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

E/1 code is the speed Sensor code try moving it some it may have to be replaced

@@FitnessTechnologyServices Thanks for very much for your help. I really appreciate your insight. It increasingly looks to be a software issue, as the treadmill works fine, apart from at calibration. So one would assume that the speed sensor would be an issue outside of calibration as well. But that's not the case. It appears I'll be receiving a new console as a result.

Hmm it is hard to say if unit never came on .I would start with do you have a power light on your switch, Is their a power light on controller, if so go over all your connections.a lot of people miss the lower connection to the main upright or pinch it start on these

To reset the lube message this is in engineering mode . Hold down (start,stop,and enter buttons. Then insert safety key. This will put in it engineering menu then press enter button. Then scroll until you see maintenance then press enter to reset lube message. Then press stop to exit

Hello Dave. Great videos! I have a Sole F83 which is 10 years old. Started getting LS1. I called Spirit Fitness and through multiple conversations, I tried: 1) new motor, 2) new control board and 3) new walking belt. None of these fixed the issue. The treadmill calibrates well. When i press start (even with no weight on the machine), the motor and walking belt seems to pulse/stutter. If I then get on the walking belt, the pulsing continues and feels quite unsafe. Spirit fitness has no new ideas for me. Might you? Thank you in advance.

My treadmill belt is in the middle when not in use, but when I run on it after about a few minutes it is on the right scraping the edge making a high pitched whirring sound - any reason for this? I think it’s how I run, but based on this, anything I can do to counter balance this? Or is it safe to not do anything? Should I add more lube? Should I adjust the belt to always go to the left?

Well I wouldn’t tighten it enough to always go to the left maybe just a little help. Make sure the deck is well lubed . Check to see if it is level. Look for wear on the deck it should be shiny black

Latest update, I did the following: 1. Made sure the feet were level 2. Added more lube so that it feels a little wet and shiny underneath and when I apply pressure while walking on the belt I don’t hear anymore friction 3. Quarter turned clockwise the right side so that it pushes the belt to the left to counteract my gait 4. Quarter turned the right leg to lift the right to offset my gait and push me more to the left as well After 1 run (1 min jog / 1 walk) seems to be staying the middle, when prior only during the 1 min runs it kept going all the way to the right and never recentering (I was having to manually push the belt back to middle prior to the above adjustments)

Hi! I have a F63 treadmill and used it for over 3 years until 4 days ago. It turns on but no 3-2-1 and no movement and beeps at regular intervals and i see a green led light go on/off with the beep on the motor control board. Do you know what it might be ?

This is a console issue or at least upper display. Once the controller board sends voltage to console all console functions are the responsibility of the console display.

Well normally if you get a E2 you should run the unit with no one on it! To see if it is a weight issue or some type of controller error. The best way to tell is with some type of amp meter see video treadmill power meter

So I will try my best the yellow handle has a cable hooked to it that goes in to the silver square tube that holds up your treadmill with a little latch inside it that moves when you pull lever.to unfold the round cylinder next to it is what makes it a soft landing .But be carefully if not working treadmill Will be heavy and slam down

Hello, I have an Sole F80 ... the other day I was on the treadmill for maybe 10 minutes, my speed was 2.2 and my incline was 1 - I was walking not running. Out of the blue, the treadmill stopped and displayed an E6 error. The sudden stop took me by surprise for sure. Do you have any ideas on how to fix/trouble shoot this error? Needless to say, I'm a little apprehensive about using the treadmill again until its fixed.

Hello, unfortunately my Sole F65 (out of warranty) has also started showing the E7 error for about a month. When that happens I have to turn it off at the breaker and there's usually no way to get it going until the next day. Then it goes for a couple of days and the error again. This sounds like the controller is overheating run the unit with no one on it. For as long as you can ...if it always works good. Then belt is worn and causing overheating

Well no way ! That’s every code it has (almost) you can check and reseat all your wire harness connections . Has the unit been moved? Could be something as easy as a pinched wire. Or I would think the console display it is the only thing that could send all those codes and then still work. It is less likely the controller would do that and still work. I just opened the motor panel. The ground screw coming off of the motor seemed loose. I tightened it and reset everything. I started it without being on it and it ran. I elevated the incline and returned it to zero then stepped on it and walked for a minute at .5 MPH. It worked fine until I pushed the 3 MPH button then it tripped the breaker.

Hmmm sole has a E7 listed as Abnormal power? Make sure you have a good 120 vac going to the treadmill then check and see if some of the power wires are well connected to the controller. Also check the wire harness connections to console make sure they are well seated

Thanks for the video. I have a Sole F80 that abruptly stopped working halfway through my workout. It tripped my main 20-amp circuit breaker. Once breaker was reset the motor no longer operates. I received the error message LS1 with low-speed flashing once I hit a speed and it counted down 3-2-1. Per your instructions, I tested the motor with a 12-volt battery and the motor works fine. The circuit board shows 2 green lights when on but, when I hit the speed control to start the process a third green light comes on and then turns red when the motor fails to start. It looks like a may need a new board, what do you think? Serial # 5808101008009437. About 650 hours on it in 13-years. Thank you for your help!

I performed your control board test and walked on the treadmill as demonstrated by your assistant. The only difference was it was very hard to get the walk belt to rotate. Everything functioned normally but when letting off it went into the same LS1 low speed message and quit. Trying to do the incline while walking was too much power draw and tricked the treadmill specific house circuit breaker. Doing it a second time the same thing happened but this time with some sparks and smoke/smell on the board. I will send an email.
