When there's no one else available to go with, sometimes you just gotta go or it'll never happen. That's hard work going through snow that deep. I do love a solo. Then a trip or two with friends. Then a solo. Solo is easier to film as I can stop and set shots without holding everyone up. Those moments of quiet on the lake were the reason I went. Kinda love the world again. For now.

Had to stop and comment about the phone bag- I made one, too, last December for going snow tracking. Made out of felt, and made the rim out of alum tawed squirrel skin ( I tanned it a while ago). I hang it around my neck to keep the phone warm, and store a stylus for making GPS location and notes on tracks we see on the app we use. Best thing ever! So when you mentioned yours, I had to laugh, because until someone told me to get a neck pouch to keep my phone warm, I had not thought of that! And rather than buy one, I had to make one. Of course. 😂

Good one, always enjoy the extreme temps documentation. The rawhide snowshoes are a bonus. I'm not seeing you deploy a hammock cover in the extreme temps. In sector 7 they may not be needed. The Dutchware covers made for the Chameleon come in either adjustable venting on the head end or fixed venting. Nice pocket of warmth and extra protection from wind and breezes. The generic aftermarket covers I've tried have been junk; clunky attachment and venting plus claustrophobia issues. Love the statement - "extreme cold and dark - uncomfortable" - yes indeed !
@shugemery2 жыл бұрын
I don't like the top covers as I got into hammocks to feel open. Also as I have report before, I get way too much condensation inside hammock socks and top covers and all the ice crystals form inside and fall all over me. Even with venting I could never stop the condensation.

Thankee Mr. Moose. Hope to make that hang again someday. Retirement keeps me too busy to do all I thought I wanted too.

I love my solo trips. So much time to get my head straight and simplify my life. I can even sleep in if desired or get up and go early…early!

You know it. Easier to film too without slowing anyone down.

It's like I want to be out there but my brain says "nah, ya dont, you know you hate cold except when you're perched on the couch, with the heater on and wearing fluffy pajamas". But...it looks inviting. Hope you have many more such very enjoyable adventures. Envy the spam cos I love it. Cheers 🍻

I take a strange comfort in knowing that shug is out there wandering around the boundary waters wilderness at the end of feb. with -30f nights. I am also concerned for his sanity… but mostly am comforted.

My sanity is checked because I did this. Sanity is over-rated anyhow.....!

@@shugemery I have three boys and last night I told them a story about a man named shug. Clown for half the year, explorer of the frozen wilderness for the other. They loved it!
