My theory is - and always has been - that Bonnie STARTED off as purple . But Scott realized that Purple should be a character motif tied with Afton, so he retconned Bonnie as blue so that Afton could always be associated with purple. Why Blue? It's close to purple enough to mistake it at a glance and Toy Bonnie was blue- which made a connection. (Clearly it worked since people are having debates about it).

To me at least this argument didn't start over whether FNaF 1 Bonnie was blue or purple, but it started because people tried to make the Bonnie's after FNaF 1 purple too. Like there's a lot of confusion, and unless you're a die-hard fan, you'll think every iteration of Bonnie will be purple despite there only being 3 versions of him that are purple. Technical Withered Bonnie in Help Wanted was purple, which just added to the confusion quite a lot.

The simple answer that no one seems to want to agree on is that he was purple during the time Scott made FNaF1, but that with FNaF2 onwards he decided Bonnie should be blue instead. While this means that he may be canonically blue during the events of FNaF1, as a game appearance, he is still purple. It doesn't matter what color he is in the lore when the appearance he's given in game isn't that color. It doesn't matter if there was a peace of text or dialogue somewhere saying something like Nightmare Freddy's eyes are red. If he is shown with orange eyes instead, then he has orange eyes but is intended to be red. Something being intended to be one color does not change the fact that factually, that thing has been colored something else mistakenly or not.

I think he’s more of a blurple color in the first game, but it makes sense from a design choice for him to be blue. Foxy, Chica, and Bonnie would be the three primary colors,(red, yellow, and blue),and when mixed together, you’d get brown like Freddy.

I believe that reply in my comment that Scott always intended Bonnie to be blue, but due to texture problems, he ended up not being totally blue. I think that’s what that reply said, don’t remember. Now why (movie) F.N.A.F.1 Bonnie is blue, I feel is that he’s always meant to be blue, plus games after F.N.A.F.1, tries to make Bonnie blue, besides Special Delivery which I don’t get, but I’ll say he’s blue since most of the games, plus the Charlotte (Web) novels depicts him as blue. Plus the movie isn’t trying to be 1-1 with the games. It has a version of Vanessa, a character who didn’t exist in the 90’s. The movie seems to not be focus on the Afton family. There may not be a F.N.A.F.4, 5, and 6 story adapt, but potentially some characters might appear, even if their stories probably won’t. To make it simple, I’ll say Bonnie was bluish purple at first, then became more and more blue.

I think og Bonnie IS purple, i think blue fits better in some models, but purple fits better in FNaF 1 Bonnie. Something i dont see people talk about is how Withered Bonnie is purple in vr. Something i still dont understand however is why he didnt get a canon redesign to make him blue. (A canon redesign is when a character's design is changed making the old one non-canon. An example could be Molten Freddy's mask wich was changed back to Funtime Freddy in SB. Thats a canon redesign, meaning at one point it was canon, but not anymore.) Something similar to the Bonnie thing is that some characters have what i call a "second main color", wich is when a character might have been brown (for example) then made orange in a different design, wich is what happened to characters like Glamrock Freddy and Glamrock Chica

So lore-wise, I've seen the withereds at just the original fnaf 1 animatronics, just with different designs (mainly Chica's jaw) in the past and worn down heavily, that's why I think foxy is worn down still in the legs, hand, etc. But I've seen withered Bonnie and Bonnie as the same at different times, and them both being blurple, just more or less blue (withered Bonnie being more). Since Bonnie unlike Freddy was 100% his own idea, I think the purple signifies that It was Afton was just as excited as when he made the two spring-lock suits. And the purple makes perfect sense for when Afton was making animations, but when he was reopening, he must have felt that Bonnie is just another animatronic, or less important, less of Afton's spirit in it. So I guess that was an argument on why Purple is lore-wise what Bonnie should be, so facts I guess. Opinion? (I know you didn't ask) I like blue Bonnie.

I think the reason why Bonnie is blue in the movie is that the pizzeria in the movie’s universe is the only freddy’s location that we know of so far and it’s the same one where the missing children incident happened where as in the games in happened at the very first freddy’s location where Bonnie was blue we know this because these animatronics from the first location become the withereds and we can very clearly see that withered bonnie is blue not purple so basically Bonnie in the movie is a mix of fnaf 1 bonnie and fnaf 2 bonnie to harmonize all the freddy’s locations into one
