When I met Cedric at the 2015 Arnold at the Meet & Greet he spoke to every one of his fans for an ungodly amount of time each to the point where the coordinators of the event were yelling at him to hurry up as they were packing everything up to leave. He loved his fans. He treated and spoke to every single one of us like he’d known us his entire life. He was a real ass dude and I’ll never forget our conversation. Learned a lot and laughed even more. This one hurts.

I have mental problems and honestly this podcast is like a therapy. Don’t need more than a few minutes to start laughing or smiling, even to the point to think: “I wish they were my friends”. So it’s not stupid at all. We all feel more or less the same I guess. And the fact that you train alone it’s even something more to be proud of because I really know that training alone is no easy task, real easy to don’t have the mood to workout, no motivation, so keep going! Really sad Cedric passed, he looked like such a likable person, a very kind and genuine person. Rest in peace Cedric 🙏

Appreciate the discussion a lot. But man, Fouad, you have the biggest rising star in bodybuilding in front of you and you should have really taken that opportunity to involve him in the discussion more. He could have given us the mindset of how a young star, Arnold champion, Olympia contender, big guy thinks about all this in regards to health, longevity, heart and organs, fears and contemplations etc. He tried to get in a couple of times and speak about his view, he said for instance that he thinks bodybuilding is not a longevity sport, and it would have been a great opportunity to pick his brain more about this topic. This is now the topic of discussion in the whole industry and it would have been a great medial opportunity to let the youngest Arnold champion say more about this.

I have always been impressed by the mass monsters. It just amazes me as to what the human body is capable of. However, I look at the old school guys and how they were very well balanced. They had a look that guys like me growing up were like "hey, I could be like that." I could never be the size of a Coleman or the like. So now, I look at guys like CBUM and the Classic competitors and that in my mind is what bodybuilding is. Clean lines, symmetry, and size that is proportionate to their height. I like Fouads idea of a cap for height and weight in the future. Change is inevitable and if the sport and its athletes want to survive and thrive, its one of the best options. Thank you guys for always having the hard talks and bringing to light these issues....Much love and respect

I was really taken back to hear about Cedric today. My heart goes out to his wife and children... "I'll get big or die tryin". Iv said that more than once since I started seriously training around 2015 and never will again. As of last year I was only 5 lbs from my goal of addding 100lbs to my physique. But in my mind far from done. I will always feel like the skinny guy I was for almost all my life. Blood pressure issues and especially John's death has cause my to completely rethink my approach so Fuad I completely hear where your coming from. The thing is bodybuilders aren't and never will be "normal" people. It takes a ton of will power and unrelenting drive to accomplish the goals we set out. Getting big is one of the biggest, and without that major driving force to do all the shit we do to reach the ultimate goal....I don't know...for me atleast just looking like the guy next to me..size/weight. Its just not the same. You have always said you never wanted to be big. Alot of us still love it.The look and the hard work it takes.

Rest in peace cedric. I've actually meant Cedric one time as about 2 years before I was getting out of the army 2010 . He was an instructor at the leadership development course. I don't know which one exactly though. the only reason we happened to cross paths was because I was assigned to be a temporary instructor for Ranger school .I was filling in just for a couple cycles. What he did and what I did or vastly different. But all of the schools are in the same area for the most part. You have airborne, Pathfinder, ranger, sniper things like that. he was an instructor at a leadership development course. Basically yeah training the future leadership to be proficient in that next promotion or position. what you seeing is what you got I mean I only took to him for about in total maybe 30-45 minutes. A few minutes here and there. And he loves the joke. He made the joke which was actually pretty common for me. He asked me if my mom knew I join the Army. And it was funny because of I had a baby face and chubby cheeks until I was about 33 34 years old and I was 28 at that point. And then he proceeded to tell me that because he approached me first. He told me that he seen me in passing and had to come back to make sure. And he was speaking of my rank. here I am looking like I'm 20 years old and I'm wearing Sergeant first class E7 rank platoon sergeant in charge of 45 guys. And then he seen like the tabbed and whatnot. And it's pretty common in those units to get your rank so quick promote I had appears. But we bullshitted about getting our sergeant and I told him I got my rank I might E5 Sergeant at 2 years and 3 years I got my staff sergeant e6 and then 7 years ago my E7 I was 25 26 years old. But yep that was Cedric busting jokes about my baby face. He actually started out in the infantry. And he volunteered to do this well sort of the his infantry unit he was at made some phone calls as well. To get him into a cadre position because of his bodybuilding career. Cuz you're not in the Infantry being that big. It was hard enough my biggest was 245 250 and I was still having to run 8 mi in the morning and s*** but I wasn't bodybuilder big I was like CrossFit big. but yeah since he cracked that joke you know me I had to crack a joke. I was like oh okay you got jokes I'm like so everybody here at the schoolhouse and those that using gear? And his eyes got huge. He's like keep that s*** down. LOL his ass was like can you tell I'm like yes.then he asked me how I knew about it and I took my jacket off and he's like oh okay. It's a common thin and Ranger battalions. but man that's pretty much all I can remember really well he did tell me to calm down where I was going to have a heart attack. Because I was the non-commissioned officer NCO sergeant leader however you want to word it. More intense Hands-On in your face loud. Like cadences. Plus he seen me messing up messing with the ranger students. The guys that were in school trying to get their tab. And Ranger school is not f****** fun. I lost 35 pounds and 60 days. but yeah his leadership style is more of a laid-back more professional which yeah obviously because of the schoolhouse environment. It's more of a classroom setting almost like an academic thing. Not saying that he didn't command respect and everything else. Because he did. Is just two different types of leadership style. but yeah I figured I'd share that little bit. I know it's not much but let's just say how he was on the podcast here and with a few others. That's how he was in person. In the army. And then more specifically how you brought up how he was so confident there in that environment and that's a whole lot more pressure. Then he was on stage it didn't make sense. I guess not because I was the same way I've always wanted to do a show even when I was in or when I first got out. There's just certain things that it's either you're too nervous or really you guys use the title or the phrase you're your own worst critic. and it didn't matter what we did especially if it was something new or different. We would put so much pressure on ourselves. And obviously that would be bodybuilding for cedric. And it's never good enough or you didn't push it hard enough. Plus I'm not a betting man but I would bet that when he went to these bodybuilding competitions. His men his soldiers they knew what he was doing. And I can almost guarantee you it was more of a blow and almost embarrassed if he didn't win and he had to go back and the guys knew he didn't win. Cuz you representing the unit as well as the army. So how he acted I would be the same way 100% And I've been to combat five times. Been blown up several times and all that good s***. I can go through all that and give orders to 45 guys in combat. But I second guessed competing and I never done it. And I'll never do it obviously. Towards the end I got out for a reason shrapnel roadside bombs. Had to get back surgeries and everything else. But that's neither here nor there. also I've heard you guys in several others talk about how Cedric has mentioned you know he's so nervous and he opens up to you guys. But when you see him on the stage you think he's so confident like there's nothing wrong. And that's a thing that you have to have in the Infantry especially as a leader. Because there's certain missions and certain things that you have to motivate your men under some f***** up circumstances. So you got to lead by example and not show any fear or uncertainty But that's about all the light I can shed on it I guess. I don't think I can really remember anything else

Rest In Peace to Cedric “the one” McMillan. A lot of bodybuilders these past few years have most commonly died of heart related issues and average age is 25-47 years old. Something has to be done so not another young life is gone. 🙏🏼 thank you uncle Fouad for these podcasts

I love this podcast so much man. Health is wealth! Loved your ideas and yes, i hope that things will change for the better. I love this sport, both watching and doing the bodybuilding lifestyle, training, eating. I for myself love the sport and do it naturally, BUT, i do love the entire side of the sport, but, things have to change. At the end of the day, whats the point of anything if you dont live a long healthy life. The pros we look up to both as athletes and in Life are living us way to early and things need to change. Also, man, Nick is a great guy. I'm really glad he things the way he things and agrees with the potential change and looking to make things more healthier.

I do love this vid and i'll watch it again i'm sure. I liked so much as, always while joking or kiddin, the way covered so many sides of the game in a different perspective and wise reflexions and questions it puts tothe whole industry. All this, above all in the first segment, while remembering a so likable great person, for his humanity, manners and camarderie like Cedric, with all the felt Respect he deserves and as all of you friendly made, each one with his tract of life meeting him. No further words about the sadness and the pain in missig that big sweet freakin soldier. I met him in San Marino Olympia Amateur 2017, he won the Pro show to qualify for Mr.O; and we were chattin down the stage and i talked to him, how much i Respected his path, origins and lifestyle, as what i saw in him so great as bbuilder and as a possible icon to add in good to BB to some others else; and briefly starting sharing some visions and champions in the history of bb (me telling him which were his inspirations and he told me i said exactly all of 'em, just surprising him a lot for this, he really was) . All of a sudden, he tapped me and smiled me , told me:"You now take my medal bro"..and he put his brand new first place medal trophy of the show in my hands....(!).Holy shit : i was so surprised; but flattered, and proud in the same time for this act, having had it as a gift and with his Respect and sharing the way he choosed to share with me. (just for the record, we took some pics i posted on my IG profile: fabiolopw - FabioL if needed to check) A great moment which says a lot about his being a big brother, always with a nice word and smile to his next and sharing his dimensions in all the ways. Great man, great bbuilder and great lost. I'll miss him but i can't forget him for ever. Thank You so much Great Fouad for the contents you keep on throwin' in and blessings to ALL of You guys, to GUY for first(!)

As far as feelings when you lose people, you go through all the emotions. Anger, grief, heartache, sorrow, etc insert feeling.. As someone who has lost 10 friends I served with to suicide I can tell you while it may become numbing but it NEVER really gets easier. My advice do what you can at your level. For me, that’s learning everything I can in regards to mental health, veteran resources, and then sharing it via conversations, social media, online platforms etc. If we all do our part then we will win long term.

Cedric and I connected a lot in the past about the military (I’m an army veteran as well). When he passed he was an E7 (Sargent First Class). A Senior Non-Commissioned Officer. He always led from the front and went above and beyond for his soldiers, even when it risked him being in the shit with his Chain of Command. I can’t even count on one hand the times I served with and under leaders like Cedric when I was in. See you on Fiddlers Green brother.

I agree with all your points fouad, i just wonder why it’s such a recent occurrence…really only in the past 5 years has this been a somewhat reoccurring thing but bodybuilders have been chasing 300 pounds since the late 90s and early 00s

I’m glad you’re speaking up about change Fouad, and don’t think you don’t have a major voice in the industry, cuz you do, you have the best bodybuilding podcast there is, you’re a Pro, so you have the experience and knowledge, you have a really great team and cast of guests, you commentate The Arnold’s’, and everyone knows who you are. Keep it up, cuz the only way anything is gonna change is if people talk about it. If you even go a step further, take the initiative, and reach out to the IFBB people to talk about your ideas, you may very well end up being the person whose efforts lead to one of the most important changes to bodybuilding ever. I’m behind you 100%, something needs to change. Can’t keep losing good people and turning a blind eye.

When i first started my bodybuilding journey or whatever… i was inspired by you, Fouad, by Kai Greene, by Jay Cutler… and then, i saw Cedric’s physique, and was completely blown away. Then i saw the man he was, how real he was, how he struggled, who he was… this is a huge loss, the world is mourning a hero.

Hey Fouad, great podcast as always. I do agree that the ultimate solution is downsizing but I think that ultimately the responsibility needs to be put on the judges. They choose the winning physique and they can change the direction of the sport by rewarding small physiques
