Boogie should use this video to promote how awesome this amp is. It can cover everything.
@tannerboil67654 жыл бұрын
Excellent job as always. This has to be the most complicated amp I have ever owned. Some days I love it, and then some days I wonder why I loved it a few days ago. It really takes time to understand and its safe to say the controls are not your conventional/normal controls as any other amp. For instance, the Gain and Treble controls work together, should have been labeled Gain1 and Gain2. Treble is controlled more by the Presents control and EQ.
@SonicDriveStudio4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! Making this demo has really helped me to understand this amp better though
@rangerdoc10293 жыл бұрын
You have to think of it like the Gain & EQ is a Built in Boost/OD. And the Drive + GEQ as the actual amp controls. Except they're active.

Multiple guitars playing multiple riffs (not the same damn riff oner and over), a comprehensive series of amp settings, great recording quality and playing and NO TALKING, this is what all amp demoes should be about.

I love the fact that you state the guitars you use and the pickups and the irs, because the tone is not only the amp and this makes us know more about the tone. The only smallish problem is the youtube compression, so maybe you could upload the wav files too in the description, but that´s a bit too much. Love your channel!

16.7k now...it takes time to build a base. Clearly not all that long when your content is this good if it really has gone from 15-16.7k in a matter of hours, but it's exponential anyway. Come back in a year and I'd eat your choice of hat if there weren't more 0's after that number :D

Great demo! But I suggest to try Channel 2 modes with low gain settings. You can achieve very useful crunch sounds. I prefer, for example, Xterme mode with gain at 10:30 o'clock, treble 13:00, mid at noon, bass at noon, presence 14:00, EQ on with mid little bit lowered.

I think the mark series is absolute perfection. It seems endless the types of tones you can get from these amps and every single one of those tones is above anything other amps are doing.

the single pup clean tones are tight and dense. Not hollow chimey like fender amps. Which is good as its not trying to emulated something else. Love my mkV35s cleans. Distorted tones? No need to even mention it - Fantastic to my ears.

Rightfully spent more time on the Crunch voicing than anything else. That is the only thing that I am really missing from the couple of years that I owned the 90 watt Mark V. The rest of the tones in the Mark V amps, irrespective of the wattage, are fabulous; I just have the rest of the tones covered in my Axe Fx III. But I miss this damn Crunch voicing so much that I keep finding myself watching videos like this in hopes that I might eventually find a way to get the same tone out of my Axe III eventually. Stellar demo by the way! Easily one of the best, if not the best, I have seen so far!

For the Mark 5:25 and 5:35 amps for lead tone, back the gain down and drive the power section. Instead of trying to compress the tone with the preamp (gain all the way up), let the tone breathe by dialing the preamp back to about 1 o'clock and crank the volume. With the 35 watt amp you may want to knock it down to 25 watt mode, with uses the two outer tubes rather than all four but getting the compression on the power stage pretty much also gives you a free noise gate. Drive the volume past 2 o'clock and there's a wonderful compression that makes even the deadest of guitars sing but the extra drive in this stage has a hard time dealing with superfluous noise like slight hand movements so you get the notes without the background guff when soloing. If you hit the strings harder in the next video I might even click the subscribe button! ;)
@oliv96324 жыл бұрын
That s a good advice, and it is completely true ! But man the master at 2 o'clock is almost impossible to sustain with a 4x12 ! because it is extremely loud, even on stage, the sound ingeeners always asks me to lower the volume... (so I have to set it at 8 or max 9 o'clock) I think that's the only way to play with these settings is to get an attenuator...

I used to play a Triaxis in the 90s. I loved that sound but had a lot of issues and eventually had to go to something more reliable. Went to a MkIV about ten years later and it was DOA. Went to Engl and other amps. Being able to switch something on and instantly getting great tone even with knobs at noon is awesome. I picked up a MkV 25 5 years ago or so trying to recapture that tone and spent way too many hours trying to figure out Mesa's unintuitive controls. I commend you on wrangling some good tones out of it.

One of the best demos of this amp I've ever seen! One question for you - I got my Mark V 25 and 1x12 standard recto V30 cab about 6 months ago and I need to push my GEQ low and high sliders way more than you do here to get a full tone that sounds like it has enough punch to it. Does upping the master increase those frequencies a lot? That's the only difference I can see, I'm not able to push it up to 3 or 4 like you do here because I'm in an apartment.
@SonicDriveStudio4 жыл бұрын
I had the Recto 1x12 for a little while and I wasn't a fan to be honest. I did sound very small imho and a little bit too bright at lower levels. Could have just been me, my room or my setup though. I just prefer the sound of bigger cabs.

I had one of these and like a fool i sold it because i didnt think i could justify ever owning such an expensive amp. Great demo! Do you use the amp live? I can't help but think it's missing a third channel to give you options for 1) clean 2) rhythm 3) lead or how do you solve this? Do you keep the Green Channel for clean and just boost / EQ / use a pedal on the red channel to change the rhythm sound to a lead?
@SonicDriveStudio4 жыл бұрын
I haven't used it live but I imagine there would be ways to solve your potential 'issues'. You could use the boost master volumes for solo's of course. 4 cable method with a good multi-effects unit would be great.
