Sony A7 in 2024 - The Smallest Full-Frame with a Viewfinder in the world

The A7 also has eye focus in single servo mode. The only negative I found was the loud shutter sound, similar to a film camera. I think the sensor has a more film like rendering than the later cameras and shooting RAW is where it works best. I used mine with a Samyang 35mm f2.8 pancake lens and got really nice results and could fit it in my coat pocket. I replaced it with a A7Rii which is like a tank in comparison.

I'm an Indonesian wedding photographer, and still use the original A7. That thing is a tank, and the battery cost me about 1/4 the price of new FZ1000 battery

Get the 50mm 1.8. It's the cheapest Sony lens you can get, and I think it's amazing. I got one second hand recently for £100, you won't be disappointed!

Hi what's up. I have a canon M50 mark 2 and was thinking about upgrading to an a7. I shoot mainly with vintage lenses for now but because eos m doesn't have an upgrade path. The price here where I live for an used a7 is about the selling price of my M50 with it's kit lens that's why I thought it would be a good alternative, do u think this would be wise decision?

absolutely, especially if you want to adapt vintage lenses you want a full frame to get all of that character that vintage lenses has to offer

3:10 Let me mention a special feature, which I use extremelly a lot: it is the Watercolor (WtrC) Picture Effect. At firts it looks like a gimmicky, cheesy feature, but it can be a brilliant tool for beginner and learning artists. I mean, the camera makes an artificially crafted rendition of the scene with excellent color choices, you simply import it into an iPad painting app like Procreate, and you have an immediate skeleton with colors to start your design and then redo the image by hand using real paints. This WtrC Picture Effect is even better in A5100 where you can even select the strength of the effect. My Panasonic S9 has "Filters" (same thing as Sony Picture Effects), too (apart from LUTs and Photo Styles), but none of them as powerful as Sony's WtrC Picture Effect. Of course, non-artist, normal photographer, this tool is meaningless, but to us learning or even progressing artists this can be an excellent tool. Sony removed the Watercolor Picture Effect from A7III, I have no idea why 😂

Very good video! I've loved the original A7 for it's small and sleak design, the glossy look and the metal dials. Fits better in my(...) hands. The image quality is excellent. Not the best colours (imo) but not that bad😉. Af is fast enough. The best is the price. For such a high quality camera an absolute bargain. 👍🏻

Thanks for your comment! Colors are subjective, I think the colros of the A7 is great, Used the A7iii for a while and absolutely hated the colors. Sony had great colors from the start, and nailed it with the sony A7iv Though its docent come near Fuji och Nikon DF

@@Kim_Alexander - That's interesting that you didn't like the A7III colors. Were you using jpg images straight out of the camera? The reason I ask is that comparing the correct camera specific Adobe color management "standard" dcp to various versions of Sony sensors (FF and APS-C) when processing RAW shows little to no difference between the base processing starting points.

@Kim_Alexander - Ah. Perhaps Capture One wasn't being consistent between cameras? Something just doesn't add up. When I used CP1 there was always a problem with their hardware accelerator. They acknowledged the bug but never fixed it. So I moved on. I wonder if their software was/is all that solid? It sounds very much like your system didn't catch the right color management base files.

@@ChristopherPerezPhotographer I have been using c1 since version 4 my impression is that they always been superior when it comes to colors. The issue was the color science of Sony this I well knowned by many photoshraohers that Sony had a bed period. The issue was that they were to true to life witch ofen result in bad skibtones. but colors is subjective some like the Sony colors it also depends alot on. what you shoot.

yes ira to be considers a still shooter only, for video I would recommend the fuji xt3 it's the cheapest camera that record video with 10bit color and log it's the camera I film most of my content at here on the cannel.

Quite a few smaller full frames. I get it, be general so bickering in the comments drives engagement. Assumably why you also "left out" saying full frame on the claim it's the first mirrorless. Combined with using AI in a way that perfectly trains it to replace you.. overall video is just weird and disjointed. At once embracing gross algorithmic trickery and theft laden displacement tech while also placing an appeal to human nostalgia and urges. Meh, that's a no from me.

@@Kim_Alexander its the first fullframe mirrorless with interchangeable lens made for photography. The NEX were earlier (interchangle lens with e mount), the VG900 was thr first full frame e-mount but in camcorder form factor, and the RX1 was the first mirrorless fullframe but with a fixed lens.

So please don't consider it as an attack (your video is great), just wanted to point out that little error :).

@@Lofote Well you are right! I use to have a nex 7. I enjoyed that alot, we could however consider that to be a range finder design while A7 is a slr styled camera. The think with this kind of statesments on KZbin is that it's better to leave some details out since it increases the engagement from the viewer 😉

A7c is inndeend slightly smaller in over all volume. One might say though that A7C is a range finder style camera and A7 is an Slr style camera therefore still the smallest. It worth mentioning that the viewfubder of the A7C got alot of critics and the A7 has higher magnification and might therefore be better. However both as pretty cool cameras foe being Sony.. Personally I prefer the rangefinder look, though I want classic controls like Fuji and leica on this style of cameras.
