Soundgarden simply rocks!!! A group of talented geniuses. Matt Cameron is seriously underated - drumming for two of the Greatest bands of All Time - SOUNDGARDEN AND PEARL JAM. CHRIS CORNELL IS GOD

@itchittyitch Dude, you are the first person I've heard say that, and I couldn't agree more. That has been driving me crazy for years! An absolutely STELLAR song; why Kim, Why?!!!

@JoeSidhu Cornell during the Audioslave era has some VERY powerful notes (just that they're not 5th octave, like he usually sings, but mid/upper 4th octave). It's true his voice got very raspy, but his voice was (and still is) amazingly powerful.

I saw Audioslave when they were promoting Out of Exile and it didn't sound that great. However, I have been to two of his solo concerts since Audioslave broke up and it sounded better than the record(s). Not only was he perfectly in key, but he hit every note.

Wow, awesome! I recently just listened to this song, like a week ago, and ever since I can't stop listening to it. Cornell isn't bad in this performance, but Rick is definitely right, he has a little bit of that Audioslave sound. Great song though.

@JoeSidhu You have described exactly how I feel about Audioslave. I had super high expectations of that band back then when it was just a rumor.
@DragonGP13 жыл бұрын
@JoeSidhu I agree, but would take it a step further and say his vocal peak was around Louder Than Love and Screaming Life, though some of the songs might not be as tight or accessible. It's hard to beat his vocals on Beyond The Wheel, Back Rain and Nothing to say; the range!

@JoeSidhu what's the issue with straightforwardness and radio-friendly music? I definitely agree that SG was way more complex and rich in so many aspects than Audioslave was, but I still think it was one of the greatest acts of the last decade. As far as vocals, it's definitely true that Cornell's worst time was while with Audioslave, specially during live performances.

His voice definitely was not Audioslave style at this time. His voice was only a little bit weak during this tour. He was pretty tired. His voice was no where near Audioslave at this time. That would take place somwhere between 2000 and 2002.

I love this version but Chris really should be playing guitar with Kim. It better matches the studio version. But i like the roughness of live recordings

Chris destroys in this particular concert, but you can see his health was declining hard, probably related to substance abuse. He is so skinny here compared to his usual self.

i feel for cornell right here, prob at the end of a long night of screaming and his voice is cooked, trying to hold it together for the fans though. mere humans, we would be hacking up our vocal chords by the end of the night

@itchittyitch Good. How can you say a song is your favorite if you don't like every part of it? How can a person who wrote their own part mess up their own song? Just think about what you said and realize that you MUST be stupid. I'm glad I put you in your place and that you admit defeat. :)

Actually you're super wrong. The best thing Cornell did vocally was Badmotorfinger. Audioslave and Cornell's best vocals shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. He was a shadow of himself with Audioslave. He didn't have his range, power, or control. He had his rasp, grit, and radio-friendliness. Audioslave itself is too straightforward and radio friendly. Soundgarden had so many different elements and had succeeded in capturing their live sound in the studio.

So he did nothing between SG and Audioslave? Wrong. Euphoria Morning was great vocally. He didn't get his shit together for Audioslave. He spread it out. Audioslave was a vocal and musical shadow of Soundgarden. It was too clean, radio-friendly, and straightforward.
