So I have been binge watching since episode one. I am a photographer and edit all day at my computer so I can listen, watch, and rewind and watch what I missed. One of my favorite things about your videos is how you take a minute to explain things that you're doing. Most people just show the highlights but you guys break it down. And last, your humbleness as to not bash the guy who sold you the boat. At least not on video lol. Man that wasn't an honest sale by any means! Boat is looking sa-weet tho!!

I am so impressed by Raff's ability to successfully fabircate the floor in a remote location and have it come out perfectly. Also, LOVE the water maker, in particular a model designed with commonly available parts because we all know it will break down in a remote backwater, not in Florida. :) love your videos. Keep it up.

Honestly that was with out a doubt the best "water maker" video I've seen. Most are so boring I can feel my brain leaking from my ear. I also love the idea of a mechanical system and not one controlled by a green board considering the lightning possibilities and the nature of saltwater air.

After running other people's boats for 20 years and dealing with all the ridiculously expensive watermakers out there, I retired, bought a boat, and put one of Mike's units in it first thing. Over 4 years and flawless. Good choice. Congrats on the floors, btw.

It is fascinating to see an RO unit miniaturized like that. Just the bare essentials. One essential I did not see was a UV purification step. That should take care of any viruses and the like that may remain in the water. These really do work.

Great job on the install guys. I doubt the water will fill all tanks simultaneously, but good thinking with the valves. I put the same system in my boat Lady Bug except it runs off of a dedicated 2kw industrial inverter. Mine is located in an out of the way place and I have found that I never really need to adjust it. I had some problems with air coming in the intake while underway, but a large T in the system with a small bleed hole above the water line solved that problem. Any air bubbles in the intake really screws things up. Like you, I was intimidated at first with the install, but it really was easy. We have had it in use for 8 months over 2 seasons and it really works great. I did find the crappy plastic fitting that goes into the flow meter cracked and I replaced it with brass. I did not opt for the panel due to expense that left that flow meter just hanging out on the fittings though and that led to the crack. Just make sure to support it and the hoses going to it and things will be fine. It was nice meeting you two over there on Long Island a couple of months ago. I hope things are going well, as the weather down where you were headed looks a little dicy.

Loved your attempt to fill your tanks in order without electronics. From an engineering perspective, it’s all about head-loss (interject jokes here). Simply put, there needs to be less resistance to the tank you want filled first (I.e. shorter hose to the first tank). If what you have doesn’t work, try adding ball valves (variable resistance) in each line and tweak them open or closed until you get the fill distribution you want. Example, the front tank ball valve will be more open and side tanks equally open but less than the front tank. Enjoy your channel.

Great job with the boat guys. Making my way through the vids now since finding your channel. Watermakers are pretty cool tech. Here's a tip I've seen on another sailing channel as far as fresh water goes - mother nature provides several chances to collect fresh water. Your sail will collect alot for you and your sail cover is essentially a big ass cup always getting filled up. Run a hose from the low point in to your forward tank. Good idea in case the genie craps out. Keep up the great work!

Great work as usual 😊and I love the floors!! The only change I would have made would be to fill the front tank last, keep the weight off the bow. I have a similar boat to yours and on long passages I usually keep the forward tank empty. Having said this, with your system it is easy to pick which tanks you fill first.

That was a great "how to" video. Well done guys. Nice job installing the controller in the wall, and the courtesy light, even Brian on Delos wouldn't have thought of that😅 I might suggest you get a small transfer pump to move the water between tanks just in case. They're not too expensive and better to get one now while you're here than out to sea.

I see a problem with the genius plan ... once the front tank fills, the water may start coming out of the vent line for the tank before it diverts to the two other tanks. You need to make sure that the vent lines for each tank (all have a vent to allow for the air to leave the tank as it fills with water) are higher than the junction point where the diversion manifold is located. Please take the time to extend the vent lines to appropriate heights if you intend to make this your method of filling the tanks, otherwise you might just find your bilge full of fresh water!!!

Awesome channel and work. RO health tip from an RO engineer: add alkalinity and minerals back before drinking over the long term. They do this in city scale plants. I would use calcium carbonate - low solubility so hard to OD. RO water can be so pure its bad for you over the long term. I want to see you vibrantly showing us the good life for decades!
