Damn.... I never needed most of these workout because as a kid Playing Tag, BOMBS AWAY, Super Suicide, football etc. Worked all the muscles in your body. It was when I got older I needed these drills to maintain it. I played against dudes who had crazy first steps without all the work outs who seemed like they had it naturally. Today's kids are sheltered YMCA ballers who believe skills can be obtained thru mimicry and not practice and working out this why if you look closely.. Dudes don't have first steps.. They just have defenders who are scared to get crossed. Great video and analysis
@armandoserrano51046 жыл бұрын
SDS Overfiend I agree 110% where you say people dont stick any D, because their scared to get crossed. #Truth

Kodak Cuttin Up 😂😂 I remember the first time I got crossed.. Then the first and last time I got dropped lol. Never lost confidence in my defense.. Shit made me work harder to understand the nuances

@mike58616 жыл бұрын
I have a question! My coach(trainer) filps out when I do a negative, or phantom step, and he hates it when I scissor-step. He says the negative step makes you slower, and takes more time to explode, making you vulnerable to getting cut off, and that scissor-stepping gets nowhere. He wants me to use pure momentum off of a standstill position to get to point A to point B, but I don't really see why negative stepping makes me slower, or isn't effective. Any help?
@ByAnyMeansBasketball6 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, he’s wrong. Many people believe it isn’t efficient, which makes sense because you’re stepping backwards, but the added force and stretch shortening cycle more than makes up for it.
@TunezCottage6 жыл бұрын
There's a reason every athletic NBA player does it too. They're taught the best way to get the bucket by some of the best skills coaches in the world. Whoever your coach is, I'm sure he's not that.
@mike58616 жыл бұрын
By Any Means Basketball It seems that when I use scissor-stepping, negative stepping, or cross stepping, that my game is at its peak, and that it is much harder for my opponents to time defensive counters to my moves, but when I do things the way he says, it makes things much harder to do.
@ice-xk2uv6 жыл бұрын
Mike listen to your coach
@mike58616 жыл бұрын
TunezCottage He's up there actually... His team won nationals last year, he did 2k14 animations, and he has Mike Krzyzewski on speed dial. Dukes head coach. It shut me up for sure. The thing is he's all defense. Legendary defense. I would go as far to say he is definitely in the top 10 of best defenders ever. I just don't really agree with what he wants me to change on the offensive end. There is alot more of the "it has to be this way" stuff that is useless to change, or will actually prohibit the way I play, such as having to have my shot at 45 degrees. It's odd, but he gets very technical when it comes to offense.

Yo were i cand send my questions. Either way my question is that if you can be too flexible, i can tiuch my toes with my forearm, and for exmple when trying to accelerate you usually see people with their heels up but dorsiflexed but my heel goes first just because how much my tendon can flex, and the same happens with the jumpshot, i always plant heel first even in a situation like you put with jimmy butler, because my tendons and muscles are too elastic. I feel a little like fluffy and im not very athletic. Is this habit (planting first ball of foot and nkt heel) that you have you develop or something that you have or dont have
