I recently stumbled across a series of videos by @TMan03 wherein he plays Super Mario Maker 2 with various challenges that would either pause or play the video. And I FOOLISHLY thought that this would be a good challenge idea to emulate in Spelunky 2!

As much as this feels like a KZbin Poop, this is NOT a YTP and I do not plan on making actual YTPs. I do have solid editing skills, but making YTPs, especially with good sentence mixing, requires a completely skill set I’m just not willing to seek out yet. Maybe someday I’ll learn to do them, but not yet.
Also for anyone reading this far into the description, I have a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon video recorded and in the works, I'm just working on scripting the voice over before I start editing! No clue how long it'll take but the content/PMD drought should be ending soon.

I feel like the better way to do this is record the game first, come up with an idea after, then edit , then youre not consciously avoiding the gimmick :)

i got here because i watched a video where every time someone pressed the melee button in Uktrakill it would toggle the recording, and i did the same thing with the quicksave in a Half-Life speedrun, it's a cool idea

See that sounds like it would save me a lot of editing if it could be AUTOMATICALLY paused with button inputs! Unfortunately OBS can only tell when I jump, not when I do other things that put me in midair lol Absolutely love this concept though, pausing and unpausing the video is a fun idea

@@ODISeth yeah to make it work for certain events instead of inputs you'd need a very complicated script to read the game's memory or something like that

@@ViddyOJames see you say that, but it’s gotten more views and likes than any of my Spelunky videos to date, and you were interested in it enough to both watch and comment Yes it’s a gimmick, absolutely. It’s a damn funny one though
