Spider Man 2 Enter Electro Review

This game is good, but the story is similar to Spider-Man 2000. Think about it: in both games, all the villains were jailed (except for one, Venom in 2000, Sandman in Enter Electro) the villains discuss how the plan failed while they were in jail, and there was a mysterious figure who kept you guessing (Spidey impostor=Mysterio, Hooded Figure=Shocker/Beetle.) There is also a character that's in both games that's not Spider-Man: The Lizard. In 2000, he was imprisoned within his maze when Venom took over, and you know what happened in Enter Electro. There's always a damsel in distress (Mary Jane in 2000, Dr Watts in Enter Electro.) There's always a boss that suggests that web yanks make the boss easier (Carnage in 2000, Shocker in Enter Electro.) There's always a level that makes you lose your patience (Subway in 2000, Plane Level in Enter Electro.) There's always a voice actor who voices most of the characters in the game (Daran Norris in 2000, Dee Bradley Baker in Enter Electro.) There's always an all powerful villain that can't be defeated by regular means (Monster Ock in 2000, Hyper Electro in Enter Electro.) There's also a boss that charges as a primary attack (Rhino in 2000, Hammerhead in Enter Electro.) So many similarities!

What? The airplane sequence is easy as shit if you web-ball the barrels instead of throwing them And also if you pay attention to the board meeting cutscene (Where Hammerhead is introduced), Electro's armor thingy was what was in the suitcase.

Also The enter electro main menu music sounds identical to spider-man 2000 but enter electro main music didn't loop all too much like the music when you are actually playing the game.

OK So this was VV's first Spider-Man game...but I don't like that you said they don't have passion for Spidey or are associated much with him. Vicarious Visions went on to make several portable Spider-Man games for GBA, DS, and I think some on PSP.

+Jim-Jam Jamilio If you take a look at this game, and then play the first it's almost a night and day difference between how bare bones this game was to the original in almost all aspects. The first game oozed passion project while this one was sort of an arbitrary sequel which only had minor improvements. It just felt like more could have been out of the game than the effort VV put in. And I'm sure there's a reason why they got the less important versions of Spidey games after this one.

The bomb level on the other hand is annoying too because of the timer yes, but if you have 2 keys quickly put them in the bomb it ups the timer for you so you don't at all have to stress.. plus remembering the level design makes it easier to remember the spots of the grid you've already looked around

The tone of the first game was waaay better. I didn't like the night settings and uninspired collor pallete of the second one. The first one was so bright and the music complimented the game. The music of the second was so awefull so ...bleeghhh...and them the uninteresting story and bland dark collor pallete. I realy REALLY REALLY gave it a chance but I quit at the trainyard level. I was so bored out of my mind. In the first one you feel like you truly are Spiderman in this wonderfull world with all those collorfull characters...and thats what this one is missing. Collor and passion and a understanding of the world of Spiderman.

SandroSensei Couldn't disagree more. The sequel improved on many aspects of the 1st part. Better graphics, better character models, more variety in the missions and objectives, new web based powers, bigger more expansive levels, street levels, more/new suits to unlock, the Create A Spider mode was much better, etc. On another note I liked that the game took place mostly at dusk/night while the 1st part took place mostly in the day. It was a nice contrast between both parts. Also, the villains that they used (Electro, Hammerhead, Shocker, Lizard and Sandman) were perfect and made complete sense as they weren't in jail at the end of the 1st game. IMO Enter Electro is vastly underrated and underappreciated.

tbh Enter Electro is not that bad. It improved on a bunch of aspects, like the extra content (the Create-A-Spider mode was just awesome), new Training levels to improve your skills, bigger and more interesting levels (Mission: Spidey, Konichi-Wa Spidey, In Darkest Night, etc.), more challenging and entertaining puzzles, tons of new suits with cool powers, entertaining boss fights (Hammerhead, Lizard, Hyper-Electro. *Without Shocker, it was a pain-in-the-butt). Overall, this game is okay. 7.8/10 for me.

Well, thanks for TROLLING me. Who will ever believe you. The music in second game was WAY more decent and the first one had only 2 memorable tunes like Police Chopper and Mysterio. Also, in first game Doc Ock was a coward,hiding behind the force field and only threw mechanical arms at Spidey, but in second game The Electro was opened and was not afraid to face Spidey with electricity and lasers. And you might think that I'm jerking around, but no. I've played BOTH of these games. Spider man 2000 was good, but Spider man 2: Enter Electro was Excellent!!!

Their PC ports are garbage. Capped framerate, max resolution of 768p, walls going black when they go behind you and countless bugs, its just not worth getting. The Dreamcast is probably the definitive version, and if you want to play the original on PC, you should use an emulator of the Dreamcast.

Treyarch would have been a great alternative for Neversoft. I mean, they used Neversoft's engine in the movie game and it worked well. Hell, they even worked on the Dreamcast port of the original game. If anything, they know how Spidey works.

Nice review. Totally respect your opinion but I have to personally disagree. I think Enter Electro is a very underrated sequel. I love how it picks up directly after the 1st part and I think the story (while not as strong as the 1st part) was still solid overall. I never understood how and why people had so much trouble with Shocker as he is pretty easy. All you have to do is line him up in front of a box (he walks slow), jump over his attacks, then wait till he taunts, target the box, and then pull the box over him. You can literally beat him in 2-3 shots. As for the bomb stage you aren't suppose to find all the keys at one time. After you find a key go to the bomb and insert it and it will add more time to the countdown timer so you can find the rest. Also the plane section is very easy if you web shoot the barrels instead of picking them up and throwing them. Boss battles (like the 1st part) requires you to beat them all differently which I really like, cinematics look a bit better overall, as well as the in game graphics themselves, etc. Vicarious Vision's did a great job with it.

I loved the first one as a kid, finished it in one afternoon, second one didn't have the same fun factor for me, I don't like that they had to change his melee moves in such a drastic level, that was off-putting for me, and I was disappointed with the soundtrack especially when I love the soundtrack of the first game, the first one had a electro rock vibe with an ounce of metal riff that was enjoyable to listen to, the second one sounded all out techno, and I don't like techno music, spiderman from 2000 is practically part of my childhood, enter electro was kind of a letdown for me

I purchased this game even after watching this review to see for myself. And it is really fun, but it just doesn't have the magic that the first one does, and I've only had the first one for a few years now. You can just feel the absence of love in Enter Electro. If they were to remaster either of these games, they'd have to go with the first. The first game is just pure camp fun, and the second game just doesn't hold a candle to the first. It didn't back then, and it doesn't now.

What does create a spider do

It allows you to take a suit and put three modifiers on it. Say you really like Spider-Man Unlimited’s suit but wish it came with unlimited webbing and invulnerability on top of its invisibility (or even swap that out for another ability). Create-A-Spider allows you to do so. It’s a really unique system which kind of became the genesis of Insomniac’s suit mod system in the PS4 game.

The shocker boss was an easy boss? Just cause Spider-man 2000 had bosses were you needed no IQ to beat them doesn't make the bosses the bosses in this game any harder either.. shocker web him up, get close to him web him up again combo on him jump away after the combo then rince and repeat it simple boss :) Scroogs comment from 5 years ago he has a point but only if your playing on kid mode lol.. if you were to play on medium you actually have to web up the two sides to the plane to actually make it stop going so yeah pretty damn annoying...
