I am amazed that some of these stretches don't cause severe pain. I just got flared up doing a hip rotator move for a physical functionality test. I had horrible pain from that and my doctor's tell me my pain is coming from lumbar stenosis.

I want to say THANK YOU as I am on disability and I can't afford to come into your office...You are giving us all a great gift for FREE. I am so grateful. I am going to start your exercises today. As you have said, some of us can only stand for just about 10 minutes. So I purchased on Ebay is a cane chair. I bring it with me if I have to walk about alot. It's about 27.00 (get the gold colored one, not the silver). THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. I do live in Lincoln,NE.

Томара Покровская what kind of surgery does someone have for spinal stenosis? because i have been diagnosed with this and it does make it much easier to herniate with this problem, and i have herniated and had surgeries prior, plus i just found out today that i herniated again and will be having a "date" with a neurosurgeon within the week

Hi...Thanks so much for this video....I've been in acute pain with Spinal Stenosis for 8-9 months. For the past month I've been doing yoga breathing and stretching exercises but the ones you show sitting down will be of enormous benefit, I'm sure. Thanks again, Jim
@sandman38812 жыл бұрын
Although yoga can be wonderful at times - it’s generic by its very nature - and hyper focused on flexibility in all directions. As you can see here - they focus on flexion stretches for spinal stenosis and not on back bends. Then utilise some aspects of muscular control.

In June 2014 I had lumbar spinal fusion surgery of the L4 &L5 vertebrae due to a ruptured disk causing the 2 vertebrae to be sitting directly on top of each other crushing my left side sciatic nerve root along with multiple stenosis growths impinging the nerve which were removed from several additional vertebrae. During my stay 4 day post op stay in the hospital the only physical therapy i received was relearning to stand up and walk with the aid of a walker. For reasons not known to me, my surgeon never suggested or referred me to a physical therapist after my post of recovery to show me exercises to keep my lower back limber and to help me regain strength in my lower back and core muscles. The only exercise he allowed me was walking on a treadmill with a permanent weight bearing/lifting restriction of 10-15 lbs. I have been searching the internet since my surgery to find safe exercises I can do that wont damage my surgical site. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial video, now I know what I CAN do to rebuild my core muscle strength and stretching to help prevent pain from the regrowth of the stenosis', which unfortunately can, do and have begun to regrow. I do have one question, is it normal 2 yrs post surgery to still be able to feel the metal hardware inserted in my back? I have 2 rods, 8 screws, several 'cage' screws between the L4 & L5 as well as a large metal structure that wraps around my lumbar spine that spans several vertebrae to give me support for lateral movement (not sure what the device is called and haven't been able to find much of any info about it on the internet). Thank you for any answers you can provide me with.

I do exercises for my spinal stenosis that I’ve culled over the years on the internet. It’s been awhile since I have found some new ones. Thanks so much for sharing. I’m going to incorporate into my routine starting tomorrow. Someone in the comments mentioned these stretches and exercises should be avoided if you have bulging disk. My guess almost everyone with serious spinal stenosis has some evidence of bulging disk. Would appreciate you comments .
@painreliefhanmomtv5 жыл бұрын
For those with spinal stenosis exercises like bending lower back help relieve pain, but they are not fundamental. In real life, you should strengthen pain related muscles in lower back, hips, lower body, etc. Strengthening related muscles could be also helpful for those with bulging disk. If you would like to be informed more, go watch my video here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXmTipKPlLGsiJo

I was sooo hoping for more.. so off to search for more... I do have spinal stenosis, catscans, mri's having the needles in my back every couple months (really in the spinal cord) but I am still getting stuck at night, I sleep for any length of time no matter how many pillows prop me up I end up waking up because of intense pain and I am stuck. I have to roll off my bed (mattress on my floor because my dog have stage 3 spinal cord damage and cannot be on anything high and before his injury he slept with me every night so to ensure he still can I put the mattress on the floor and have a little ramp for him to get on and off) I roll back and forth until I get enough pain out and enough feeling in that I can get my legs up underneath my belly and I just lie there with my arms out above my head... I lie there until I stop crying and I can feel my legs more... I can not keep doing this I need a fix.. I cannot take drugs I have balance issues, I cannot take many pills they seem to contain a lot of things I cannot take. So I am stuck with a lot of pain, a lot of tense muscles that are going into spams (the twisting exercise no way in hell I can do that will send my upper back into spams) and I am out looking for new things I have yet to try to get me unstuck at night.. I have done all of these, some I cannot do again... None are keeping me from being stuck.. how do you keep from being stuck from going to sleep!!!!

I have congenital stenosis at age 62 and have begun to experience some leg weakness. My doctor warned me this could happen, so I have begun to do exercises to help gain that addition 25% of movement space you said is possible. I began these exercises today and plan to do them everyday as soon as I get off work. They don't take that long, really, although I do put a lot of concentration on doing things as perfectly as I can. What would you say is a good amount of time I should give to these stretches? Is my decision to do them every day okay? Also, how many reps do you recommend for each of these? I hear 30 seconds and 3 reps on occasion, but I'd like to know what is the best length of time and how often I should repeat these. Twice a day eventually should I strive for? Or is this plenty to get started? Thanks for your help. I am a computer nut so I find my posture to be atrocious. I've begun to work on it too.

I went that route at first, and found the only thing really improving through therapy, was the them lightening the load in my wallet. They were so angry and childish when I told them this also. Believe it or not, but CBD oil has helped so much with the arthritic pain. Ice packs, and chiropractic adjustments. I like this chair yoga though. I get too stiff in my joints and this seems to be a good way to loosen those areas.

I have severe multi level stenosis at C6 & C7, plus L4, L5, & S1. Which has caused some unbelievable nerve damage in my arm, hand, and legs. I use CBD oil to eliminate a lot of the arthritic pain in my hips and knees. Use ice packs when my neck & lower back really hurt. But would love to start doing chair yoga, to loosen up. I feel like the Tin man most days. And need to get all my joints moving again. I am 57 years old on disability. Too young to feel this dam old.

Jake, I am not sure whether my condition is spinal stenosis maybe you can help me to diagnose. I had sciatica more than 20 years ago which resulted in my left foot dropped/unable to flex. I have learnt to overcome it by changing my walking ways to lifting my knee higher like 'marching. This year somewhere about few months ago I discovered that I have trouble walking distances, my legs feel weak only after a 15 mins. slow walk. And when I bend the body backwards, I do feel a sharp pain down in the buttocks. Thanks Jake.
