I stop by this channel periodically if I see a game that interests me, but want to look at it before I buy it. I appreciate the work done here. Secondly, I bought this game a while back and played it for a while. It's fun. Pretty easy to get money, but less easy to get skill points to level and get into the big ship. The dev is pretty responsive about issues reported, so that's a good thing. As others have said, it's one person, and to have created what this game offers is truly a labor of love. I stopped because there was no story (at the time) and I had gotten the biggest ship, and all the cool guns for it, and didn't feel like grinding to max ranks. Edit: One other note. The game has a "campaign" mode (but no story) and "sandbox" mode. When I played, they were basically the same, except Sandbox has everything randomized, even star names, which is why some of the systems are totally unpronounceable and very WTF. Campaign's map has more "normal" star names and predictability between games.

With all of CCPs failures outside of EVE Online, I'm amazed they haven't taken their existing assets and converted them into an amazing single-player experience. I'm pretty sure an EVE Offline series of titles would do well with the X and space sim crowds.

This game is a wonderful offline eve subsititute. It is still in early access and the developer has a lot of work ahead to complete his vision for the game. That being said an amazing amount of work has been done and the developer is incredibly active with regular updates. In my short time in the games discord the core group of players/playtesters and developers has been quite helpful and friendly. The dev is also active in discord and is also helpful and friendly. In case none of that has sold you consider the mod tools that are included in the games main menu. In a couple short days I have designed and flown four of my own ships using the ship mod tool which allows you to create ships using pre-made parts that you put together similar to legos. After designing the part layout/look of your ship you are able to set the stats as you see fit. Yes you can make a wholly unrealistic ultra powerful ship that sells for a pittance. You can also design entire lines of ships or rework the stats of the standard ships to fit the universe in your imagination.

I bought this game a while back after watching one of the developer update videos, he is passionate about the game and seems quite determined to keep adding more and more things plus he does listen to feedback and makes changes accordingly. An EVE offline is something a lot of us have been hoping for and this might just be it plus game updates come in quite regularly besides, what other game has diapers and cat food as life support lol

Ive gotten a couple of games that if i knew the real time travel took so long i would have passed. Just a suggestion, keep up the great reviews

The life support system is mean to be improved and can be deactivated.

Elite does have an auto-pilot of sorts. But it only works in system. You just line up with the destination, turn on the cruise assist(if you have the module loaded), and it'll either orbit a planet/moon/etc or drop out of super cruise when you get to a station or some poi/signature event. It's not quite as set it and forget it as eve's auto pilot, but it's the point of elite is you're the /pilot/.

Elite Dangerous is a first person space simulator. It's not an idle game. Besides, you already have autodocking and supercruise assist.

I played this game a long time ago, in it's early early access, and liked it, waiting for the story mode to be implemented. Even without that, I enjoyed playing and building level/skills, etc. until I had a substantial fleet and the best ships. There is even a ship editor and a lot you can do to customize.

I would like to see a crew health bar on the ship that goes down when something bad enough happens that might kill crew like a hull breach I think it would be cool to see floating bodies outside of a ship, it would also create a good excuse for derelicts. I would have a very durable crew health bar because hull and shields exist to prevent crew deaths of course ship function would drop as crew numbers get low.

Hmm 1 thing to point out. The factions right now are 1 main faction 2 sub factions. So alpha is main the sub is science and civil. Doesn't matter much in sandbox, however in Campaign mode ONLY main factions will own any stations.

Bought this game in its original incarnation, Astrox: Hostile Space Excavation and played well over 200 hours. Kinda ticked me off since I had to buy the game again when he moved over to Imperium, but I did buy the game again and currently have a little under 100 hours though it has been a while since I played.

Well, I enjoyed the previous game ASTROX: Hostile Space Excavation even though I was hoping for a bit more content or story it was still entertaining and really customizable. My biggest gripe about it was that it was so easy to customize but not all of the options really made sense until you saw them work in the game. You don't really know what the ore rarity means until you play with it on various settings. The descriptions on the tool tips are kinda vague. Once you have it down, though, you can make up a lot of different kinds of games and have a huge range of difficulty cures to play with. As for EVE Online, I really didn't like it.. I liked the beginning of the game, but then I ran into the time sings... like I need to wait a full month of my real life in order for a skill to advance... Dude, A game has to be pretty frigging spectacular for me to even be playing the same game a month later, let alone waiting a month of my real life in order for the next stage of my game life to advance. I certainly hope that this Imperium didn't adopt that part of EVE because I'd be returning it pretty damn fast if he did.

You should take another look at Elite Dangerous, they added a component for ships called auto-cruise. Works in a similar way to auto-docking.

then i really recommend x foundations from the x series, it has always been called eve offline, fully dynamic npc factions with their own economy, politics, wars, industry, trade, etc. fleet management and crew management, going from the bridge of a capital ship to the hangar and take off with a squadron of fighters to be come the lord of the sector
