Yeah this game reminds me of Laputa which im sure had some level of inspiration. (could be wrong). But in regards to a floating city being terrifying as a technologically superior state crossing borders that for sure makes sense. Given the apparent setting of the game it's like a group of people having access to aircraft carriers and strategic bombing in the bronze age.

that aspect reminds me of Mortal Engines, except the cities are on treads and roam the wastelands hunting scrap and each other (if you at all enjoyed the movie, I recommend the books, there's 9 and can be had in a box set. They are "young adult" but I am 59 and found them fun. And like most movie adaptations, the books flesh the setting and story out a lot.)

Normally games with paths don't need them and just make the game harder to pick up for new players. With this game you're a single building floating in air. With paths effecting the tilt and over all weight of the ship so it's one of the few games where I like it being in there.

FYI: Conservatory = "a room with a glass roof and walls, attached to a house at one side and used as a sun lounge or for growing plants."
@QuantumWaltz2 жыл бұрын
Splat is also correct in that a conservatory can be used to mean a school, most commonly a school for the arts. Think about it the way we frequently call schools for small children "kindergarten," "garden of children."
@iffracem2 жыл бұрын
@@QuantumWaltz Yeah, Universities often have a "conservatory of music" etc which is an "extension" of the main university.. a place where knowledge grows
@Muenni2 жыл бұрын
The two meanings of conservatory aren't related like that. The word has nothing to do with growing or plants, but preserving. In England, it came to be used for greenhouses, while later on, via the French as usual, the Italian meaning was imported. In Italy, the word was originally used for an orphanage in which great musicians came by to teach the orphans, leading to the later "conservatory of music". That's why conservatory has two rather unrelated meanings in modern English (but to my knowledge, no other language, although many adopted the late Italian meaning).

@@Muenni I never said they were etymologically related; merely pointed out a similar area where English refers to educational institutions as being places of cultivation.

With the risk of getting lynched because of using mac for gaming, it could be extremely nice if you could put keywords like Mac and Windows at the end of the title to let us know the platforms the game can be played on, that way we can actually search by those keywords and can get only the related results. Otherwise, I often find myself watching a really cool gameplay of a really nice game that I got to love by the end of the video, only to find out that the game does not run on my computer (Mac) :(((( I ofc know that you don't have to in any way, but it would be a very very helpful thing for I think not only me but other people as well. @@M33f3r Yes. For a certain kind of person, enjoying this almost purely for the aesthetics is certainly within my realm of understanding. However, as a game, I think that it must suffer some deserved criticism. When they got this far, why not tweak the design to make it interesting mechanically as well right? I suppose it’s more forgiving than frostpunk where districting was much more vital… but in this game it would be much harder to revise your city after rampant developing with the tilt mechanic. I'd bite if there was cool aerial combat elements, that would be cool. Imagine being able to switch to first person in a little fighter jet, grab your hotas, and repel attacks from ground based nations. Hell, if you could land ground forces to turn nations into tributary states; no actual control of them, but they give you money and resources. Open it up to multiplayer, where you can go head to head with other players, growing your flying city and fighting for influence among the grounders.
