Also, the reason why Casey wore so many shirts was probably cause she was abused, and wanted to keep her body hidden away. And Dennis and Hedwig both noticed the multiple layers, which Hedwig commented on. The beast probably put two and two together and realized that she was abused and scared and scarred, just like his original identity, Kevin.
@calebhamilton4753 Жыл бұрын
I don't think it was the clothing, rather the scene where her shirt gets ripped and scars along her shoulders and back are revealed which the beast seems to believe the only people who deserve life are those who have experienced real pain

@erikhenry6895 жыл бұрын
I think the flowers were left at the train station for Kevin's father, not mother. His mother was abusive and his father "left on a train" as the doc said, leaving him with his mother who caused him to split in the first place. We learn more about that in Glass. I also don't think that Kaycee's abuse flashbacks are unnecessary (although they are a bit disturbing) because they explain a lot about her character, such as why she's a quiet outcast, why she wears a lot of clothing layers, and why we see her all scarred up at the end. The fact that both she and Kevin were abused as children creates an unspoken bond between them as it does with most trauma survivors, which is why the beast ultimately lets her go. Such a great film!

I love your channel but you are waaaaay off base for this movie. Ignoring that you called "Barry" "Bruce". The girls aren't the same girls who made Kevin (as Barry) grab their breast. If that was they case they would have recognized him. The significance of the breast grabbing is what made Dennis and Patricia take over as it triggered a defense from his abuse as a child which is indicated in the therapy session. Dennis and Patricia are followers of The Beast who believes in the culling of the world of all impure people. In the beasts mind impure people are people who have never suffered in their lives. That's why Dennis picks Marcia and Claire because they are well adjusted and well loved and Dennis stalks them for weeks to insure that they qualify Casey is just unlucky. The scene with the flowers and the train are jumping personalities between Dennis and Patricia (not bruce/Barry) and they are left for Kevin's father who "left on a train" or the Beast who lives in the Train station as stated again in a therapy session. It is also believed Kevins father died in the train accident where David Dunn was the sole survivor but that is just speculation. At the end the girls are food for the beast which is correct but the next outing the plan is to get more impure people I think Patricia says 12 if I'm not mistaken. Anyway the beast is set to eat Casey as well until you see her scars the scars brought on by years of abuse by her uncle. (the reason for showing the flashbacks) At the sight of the scars the beast realizes that Casey is in fact "Pure" as she has suffered in life. David Dunn also did not will his powers he's had them since birth if he willed them he would have a conscious desire for them and not be confused about them. As I said I really like your videos and am a subscriber you just missed the mark on this one.

The Beast considers the two other girls impure because they aren't "broken", not just because they made him touch their breasts. They haven't experienced hardship or pain in their life like Kevin has. They seem to me to be the popular girls of their school with tons of friends and everything handed to them on a silver platter. Casey on the other hand, after her dad died of a heart attack or hell, maybe even before that, was presumably sexually assaulted by her Uncle who took her in. She inflicted self-harm on herself and even purposely got herself into detention at school just so she could be alone and have time to better cope with the turmoil in her life. Casey is spared because The Beast sees the self inflicted scars on her body and comes to the conclusion that she had been broken in life just like he has. To him, the broken are the pure and strong, so he leaves her alone.

Sol Vitriol In the end those two were meant to be food for the beast. Their fates were sealed the moment the Dennis personality decided to kidnap them. The pain they went through before getting eaten is irrelevant. Casey-the 3rd unintended victim-was going to be eaten as well, but was spared for not having a perfect painless life

SPOILERS: You completely misunderstand the use of "pure" "unpure" in the film. Those who have suffered (and thus are enabled through their suffering to become super human are "pure"; those who lead good unchallenged lives (like the two popular girls) are "unpure" - it has NOTHING to do with sex or fondling (seduction). Nor is the sexual abuse of the main female "unnecessary". The implication is that she too has the ability through her suffering to become super-human. Further since her abuser used an animal based theme, her power will be to overcome and defeat animals (like the beast). The premise being the same as in Unbreakable : hero (in this case heroine) and villain are opposites (Unbreakable/Mr Glass - The Hunter (girl)/The Beast. This was an origin story for a new superhero and villain.

Titurel Good notice all! I got confused when 1 of the personalities, Dennis, said the girls were inpure just forcing the 9 year old personality to touch a breast of an uplifted shirt! James McAvoy's character's Dad dies on the same train that Bruce Willis survived in Unbreakable. That's why McAvoy's character sets down the bouquet of flowers in front of the train before he transforms into the beast. Mr. Glass is responsible for creating a Super Hero (Bruce Willis) and a Super Villain (James McAvoy).

The ending was mind blowing and ended with my favorite character from all of his movies. This movie is a must SEE!!!!!!!
@lambdagamma20367 жыл бұрын
Ok this will probably get buried by other comments but whatever. Overall your video is good but you have misunderstood some crucial aspects of the movie that impairs your understanding of the movie in the context of what shamnalanyah is trying to do. Ill explain below. (spoilers for this movie, and unbreakable) 1. Kevin's father died in the train accident not his mother. In the scene where Dr. Fletcher confronts Dennis, Dennis tells her that Kevin's father got on a train and never came back. Not only this, the train Kevin's father dies in is the same as the one Bruce Willis's character is in at the beginning of unbreakable. The evidence that suggests this is the fact that Bruce Willis's character is returning from a job interview in New York, and the fact that split takes place in New York (amtrack trains, the zoo is clearly the bronx zoo, and the police have standard nypd uniforms and badges). Also, considering slamnalaniananan it would make sense that Mr. Glass's attempts to find a hero also spawned a villain (that's like theatrical irony 101); he has also already confirmed that there is a trilogy, so it also makes sense that there would be super strong ties between the movies. My personal theory is that in between split and the next movie in the series; Kevin will be arrested because the beast is only temporary and end up in the same institution as Mr. Glass, who will then teach him how to control his personalities better and foster more "rage", setting up some kind of final showdown. Or "plot twist" Kevin was already institutionalized when he was younger and met Mr. Glass, and Mr. Glass helped him create the beast. Knowing Shamnalanianannana its probably going to be a variant of either of these scenarios. 2. As some other people have mentioned, the whole purity thing has nothing to do with sex. Its all about overcoming suffering, the other two girls never suffered so they were not worthy of the new world the beast is trying to create. Also the powers aren't so much about the power of thought, its about overcoming suffering which gives people the power. This is also somewhat consistent with the theme of unbreakable. Mr. Glass became an "evil genius" because of his conditions, Kevin developed the beast because of his. I also theorize that Bruce Willis's character over came something that will be explored in the next movie. At least I hope so, relationship problems are hardly at the same level as losing a father or having a debilitating protein disorder. I'm not trying to be that guy. But I think these two aspects are almost necessary to fully appreciate this movie. Also they should really hype you up for what ever comes next in this series.
@f0repl4y7 жыл бұрын
Actually Split takes place in Philadelphia. The zoo is a Philadelphia Zoo it was reported in news in that final scene in the diner. As for the train, wasn't there two trains that collided? Maybe Kevin's dad was on the other one? Also, Kevin was in Unbreakable! There's scene where David Dunn is working as security, a woman dressed in red holding her son's hand might be Kevin as child. David got a glimpse of the abuse as she passed by, but didn't act on it.

What if the train crash in Unbreakable is what killed Kevin's mother?
@CoolNerd6 жыл бұрын
Kevin's mother didn't die in a train crash. It was his father. Which is why he was leaving the flowers. It's also speculated that the train wreck that David Dunn was involved in (caused by Mr. Glass) is also the one that killed Kevin's father. Which would be pretty fucking dope. Considering that Mr. Glass's whole point was to create these terrible accidents in order to find his opposite (someone with abilities). And it would just be amazing if he ended up finding his opposite in David Dunn, and creating the Villain that we see emerge in Kevin..... End rant

Hey FoundFlix! Love your videos, saves me from having to watch the movies, but I want to correct some stuff you missed in this video. 1. The idea of purity from the Beast's perspective is how much you have suffered; In his life, he was left by his father, and left to his abusive mother (It was because of her that Dennis was born). His life up until he either left his mother or she died somehow, was suffering for him. It's partially the reason why he has so many personalities. 2. The primary reason he took the girls was as food for the Beast, but The Horde referred to it as, "the ritual." The Ritual required impure victims. After losing a good amount of clothing, he saw that the main character was, "pure," or had suffered some series of tragedies just as he had. 3. Had to remind myself what this point was on, lol. Anyway, the ritual that took place at the train station was in memory of his father, or what could have been. It was either the father leaving that drove the mother batty, or it was the idea that the dad was the only one capable of saving Kevin from his mother. If the dad had stayed, this could have been prevented, and Kevin would have been much happier. If you read all this... wow, thanks. Means a lot. I actually liked this movie a lot, as it wasn't the best in its execution, but really spoke a lot on mental illness. I've been in a behavioral hospital twice as of now, and I've got to say; the care quality is alright, but the staff, the food quality, and educational standards are atrocious. The mental health standard needs to be higher if these people are really going to get any help. Anyway, thanks for being kind enough to read this, have a great day!

After watching the movie, my understanding of the ending was that for the beast, an impure person was someone who hadn't experienced pain/sadness in their life. This explains how he thought he was pure because his mother abused him, and how he lets Casey go after he sees cuts on her body (self-inflicted due to her sadness or the hurt marks from abuse by her uncle). Also, I have a suspicion that the "insulin" (I thought it was insulin too at first) could have been steroid shots (it could probably explain how he "physically" turned into the beast).
@brycebilliot Жыл бұрын
Yeah, this is correct. Not sure how this reviewer misunderstood that. The uncle sexually assaulting her wasn’t “unnecessary” it’s literally the reason she’s “pure.” Though I’m way late to this movie so I’m sure he’s heard this ad nauseam by now ha

I'm not sure alters CAN fade permanently. Haven't had an update from Felix in months so I assume he's probably gone for good. He did manifest during a time our host was reaching peak mental maturity so its likely that reason he wasn't as active as me and Soma is. Granted I don't believe alters should exist, I do feel bad for Felix fading. He was infuriatingly shy but he was kind and an amazing artist. Kinda wish Soma faded instead... I believe this review missed the theme of this movie. Or at least the theme I saw. The two girls who are killed by the beast are not impure for supposedly being the ones to put Kevin's hands on their breasts. They are impure because they had not have to live hardships compared to what Kevin and Casey had gone through. The pure ones are the ones who have gone through terrible hardship in their lives. The ones who have scars. I think the message is nice and uplifting. I really liked this movie, and for this being my first Shamalan movie, I'm interested now in his other movies. @krishnadevkoloth7 жыл бұрын
You are wrong about Bruce Willis obtaining his power in a way similar to Kevin. Bruce willis had never been sick in his entire life except for the pool incident. He was also unharmed in the train incident and at that time he never believed that he was unbreakable. Mr. Glass only made him realise his power and role in the world but did not help him in gaining his power
@krishnadevkoloth7 жыл бұрын
I also believe that McAvoy's character was the villain in the movie unbreakable who had made 2 girls prisoner in a house and this character was killed by bruce willis. I believe this because the guy bruce willis kills is a very strong person as shown in a small flashback experienced by bruce willis when he touched the villain
@agipson1017 жыл бұрын
krishnadev koloth nahh that's not it
@Le0xo6 жыл бұрын
Bruce willis got his powers in the same way as kevin through his mental capabilities that apparently this movie is trying to explain we are all capable of. Kevins disorder didnt give him the power it just made it easier for him to manifest it, it was only small in the way he could make himself diabetic but as a "team" the personalities made it extreme just like bruce did. Mr Glass did make him realize his power, he caused all the terror attacks that were made to test a person, not sure if he caused the car accident but eitherway he had to make bruce willis realize what he could do with his mind. You thinking too far into it and taking the obvious bait to where the average person would assume happened. McAvoy's character was not the same character in unbreakable, that story involved a mom and its pretty clear the unbreakable story was awhile ago since the girls remember it vaguely but at the same time McAvoy is just discovered.
@NecroMancer845 жыл бұрын
@@Le0xo I think you're wrong. The while point of Unbreakable was that comics are based on reality. So like comics heroes and villains would come to their "powers" differently. Why would Bruce Willis survive a car wreck unhurt, never have a sick day, survive a train wreck all before he met Mr. Glass. Mr Glass did help him realize his powers and potential but he didnt create them. He's kind of like a Porfessor X in that regard. I do not think that Kevin was the bad guy in Unbreakable. That was probably more of M Night having a rough idea for a villain before he could make a movie about said villain so there is some overlap but I could be wrong about that.
@NecroMancer845 жыл бұрын
@@Le0xo Remeber that Mr Glass came up with his theory because he was fragile. If we all have the power to manifest our bodies into something else why wouldn't he at least change his body to be a regular person? Its because that is not the point. Its that there are exceptional people among us who myths and legends are based on. Also with the car accident Bruce Willis had convinced himself so much that he was injured that he forgot he didnt really get hurt. So if you are right then why wouldn't he manifested the injury he thought he had? I hope we find out more when Glass comes out next year.

I don't think Casey survived was because she was pure but because she went through the same thing Kevin went through. At the end (small spoilers) the Beast has tackled Casey and bit into her foot. She is in a torn shirt and sees that she has scared from being sexually abused by her uncle. Earlier in the movie you see a scene where Kevin, in his child hood, was abused. So the beast (or Kevin breaking from the beast) lets her go because he found comfort (or could relate) to Casey. I also think the flash backs to casey's childhood and how her uncle killed her father on hunting trip were completely necessary. They helped add to Casey's character and how you connected with her. This was probably one of my least favorite "ending explained" videos that you've done but I still love how much effort you put into these videos. I'm now going o binge watch this playlist XD
@tnargtnarud7 жыл бұрын
Hmm Casey's backstory of abuse was actually prominent in dealing with the beast because it explains how she was able to remain much more level headed and 'familiar' with dealing in intense situations. Her own traumatic abuse kept her smarter and more importantly alive. Dark, but purposeful.
@longy28993 жыл бұрын
Great video! I thought the unpure were those who have not suffered greatly in life, and those who are pure, have suffered, and are more awoken because of it. Hence the unpleasant uncle stuff being important. Also the connection of the Beast being an animal, and the scene where the uncle was telling Casey to play like animals.
