Incantation was so good!! I absolutely loved it. It genuinely scared me but was a lot more than just the scares cuz I rly cared abt the characters. Especially the dynamic between the mother and daughter. It was just so genuine. Definitely a favorite of the year so far.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is seen by many as “another dumb teen slasher”, which it sort of is, but it actually has a very good story surrounding it. A couple under-appreciated gems I can think of are “Ravenous” and “The Evil Within”, both of which also have very interesting backstories.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is the movie that got me into horror. I saw the trailer on a VHS tape and I went from a scaredy cat to a horror hound. I feel like people always talk smack about it, so it's nice to see a non-slasher fan show it some love. Seriously, though, how about a deep dive on I Still Know What You Did Last Summer? And did you catch the Amazon Prime series? It's wild.

Have you seen Nymphomaniac? For years I thought it was just another 50 shades of grey type of film which isn't my thing but Nymphomaniac is actually a lot more disturbing than I thought it would be. Iv only made it through the first 50 minutes before I had to turn it off but I do plan on finishing it. (Shield Gromits innocent eyes for this one lol) "sorry if I spelled his name wrong"

That feeling when one of your heroes gives you a shoutout but doesn’t like your movie :( Kidding! Fun wrap-up as always, Emma, thank you. These are always so interesting. Moloch was cool. Incantation was insane. The Boys just keeps getting sharper and better all the time. I’ll be checking out that internet doc! I watched an incredible film this month. Have you seen Monos? The best part of The House By The Cemetery is the character of Bob. Arguably, he's more taxing on the nerves than Samuel in The Babadook. The way they dubbed Bob's voice is hilarious! Edit: Season 4 of Stranger was terrific but I felt like it suffered from pacing issues. Especially in the first few episodes compared to Vol. 2 (episodes 8 & 9). Also, there were too many characters, imo. I still really enjoyed Season 4 but Season 3 was put together better.

Hi! Regarding These Final Hours' movie concept, I wonder if you've seen the 1998 Canadian film Last Night (starring Don McKellar the director , Sandra Oh and Callum Keith Rennie) which is about several different people going through the last day of Earth. This one's more of a drama /dark comedy vibe but it is a pretty good movie with a wonderful and beautiful finale. (fun fact David Cronenberg is int this film)

I highly recommend Mattie Do's new picture, "The Long Walk" (it's on Shudder). A Laotian film, it's about a man who can talk to ghosts...well, to ghosts of people he was with when they died. It's quiet and terrifying, and has a dream-like narrative, with some of the best color and framing work I've seen recently. :chef's kiss:

I'm currently reading Where The Crawdads Sing. Its isn't great. I don't understand why they would make a movie about it. As for her appearance. Girl has been without basic medical care since the age of seven. She wouldn't have a single tooth left in her mouth. Really appreciate hearing your thoughts on Where the Crawdads Sing. I read the book in prep for the movie and because it had an *insanely* high rating on Goodreads (currently 4.45/5 stars with 1.97 million reviews. It's unheard of). I don't know how or why it's so highly rated, or who is giving it these ratings (book or movie). I didn't care for the book; it wasn't terrible, I guess, but it definitely wasn't anything special, and the characters were poorly written and unrealistic. I didn't bother to see the film and have no plans to do so. At this point, I'm convinced that Reese Witherspoon paid for high ratings for the book and the film. I just don't see how else it could pull these kinds of numbers.

EDIT: I had so many reactions, comments, questions etc while watching this video but when it got to the end my mind totally went blank. You covered so much and so many different genres, which is awesome and I loved it, but I don’t remember any of the things I was going to say now. I think zombies are eating my brain a little each night while I’m asleep, seriously. I’ll try to come back and say something of substance, but just know I did enjoy all- oh shit, I remembered one thing… Where the Crawdads Sing sucks so bad. The film, the book, the woman who wrote the book in real life, her IRL backstory which is sketchy as. Just everything about her, her crappy writing, and Reese Witherspoon who I can’t stand going all mush over this tripe makes me want to vomit. There may be a horror story in there somewhere, about middle aged adults (mostly women, I have to be honest) following trendy book clubs like sheep, and being herded from one pretentious novel to the next. Culminating in group pilgrimages to the cinema to watch the god awful film adaptations. It reminds me of when cuckoo Mel Gibson made the bloodiest most over the top Christian movie (you know the one), and entire church congregations went together to see it, sometimes with children in tow. Something about the whole phenomenon of large groups of people in cult-like situations going to see a film because their “leader” decides they should makes me want to swap their film for Hobo With a Shotgun and chuck Skittles at them while they mill around in confusion. Sigh. So yeah that was one of the reactions I had. I’m so relieved you hated it Emma. There are still sane people in this world.

I've tried googling and researching which location has it but can't find it. So I switched places where I'm at, and retrying Amazon prime with no luck. The Most Hated Man on the Internet is an utterly disturbing but compelling documentary on Netflix in the UK. The Girl on the Picture is just fascinating as well as emotional. I'm looking forward to Sandman on Netflix in August and Nope is out here in the UK on the 12th, excited for that. House by the Cemetery is odd, but I either love or hate Fulci films, him being a dick in real life doesn't help I guess 🤣
