One thing that makes the Olofsson miss harder than most people realize is that before the puck pops out, that play doesn't exist and no one is expecting it. Let's get into our time machine, and pause time at the instant the puck is beginning to pop out, and put any of us in his exact place and bodily position and trajectory. Then, magically make it so we know where the play is heading in general (i.e., where the puck is and in what direction the other players are moving), but also make it so none of us know what is about to happen... Then unpause time, and see how many of us could make that shot. He takes a stride or two to the puck; how many could get there as fast? And so forth. Also, as Steve reiterates, you can't quantify pressure, which adds more difficulty. Some of us could probably make it, but it's not a free throw into an empty net. And there's no shot after about a second, given how the low slot tangles right back up. We could back time up even farther, say to when Olofsson touches the puck coming into the zone. I, for one, wouldn't come out of a coma for another week given what they'd do to me around the blue line, lol. So there wouldn't even be a shot to miss. But between then and the miss is roughly 7.5 seconds, an eternity to us mere mortals.
