Over the years I have heard you say you don’t want to bore your viewers with the same tasks over and over. First of all, it is a wonderful reminder of what I may need to look at in my own garden. Secondly, it is good to see how someone else does a task. We can all learn from each other. There have been so many times I’ve watched and thought your way was an easier way. From tools you and Aaron use to techniques, they have been so helpful. I’m all about your message of work smarter not harder! Thank you for sharing!

The appearance of the cats is one of my best parts of the videos, I am not a cat person, but these are sassy. Cheddar has no interest in being an internet sensation he rarely makes an appearance. 😊

I wasn’t a cat person, until I saw hers! I wanted a garden buddy too! Now I’ve somehow ended up with four LOL. A cat that showed up the same day we talked about getting one, then she had babies, I kept two to prevent giving them to strangers, and we thought okay that’s PLENTY. Then mom’s brother showed up skin and bones…. It all happened so fast. I’m allergic!

@@SdragonflyS Yes it was absolutely insane! We had talked about getting one in passing a couple times, then one day we were standing in the kitchen and agreed okay yeah we should start looking for one! I finished cleaning up from lunch so maybe 15 minutes go by, I looked out my back door and there she was! Sitting on my porch, making eye contact with me!!! I rubbed my eyes like on cartoons lol. Could not believe it. She was so frail and dirty and sad but came right up to me purrin. Ate all the cold leftover mcnuggets we had lol. Ugh I love her. I love the kids and Brother too but that's my girl, always. Thank you CDS 🙏 and screw the person(s) that left her outside un-spayed and collarless to starve. Sorry!!

1) UPWIND, you want to stay UPWIND of your spray, or else you end up covered in spray... 2) where's your PPE? You need to be wearing goggles at the absolute minimum - just because it's for organic gardening doesn't mean you want it on your skin or in your eyes. ❤️

I enjoy all your videos, and watch you everyday. I have never commented on your videos before. But after seeing this one on spraying your trees, I was compelled to make a comment. I have gardened for 50 years and sprayed for many different diseases in my garden. I did learn in the last several years, it is wise to wear eyeglass protection, gloves, and a mask. I also immediately remove clothing and shower. We are told these products are safe to use, but over time we find out some are not. Some of these chemicals we are exposed to can cause very harmful consequences to our bodies. I feel it is impossible to avoid all spray back on our body or clothing when using these products even on the best days. I hope everyone will be safe in their gardens.

There are preditory insects that will combat your codling moths. Green lace wings, and parasitic wasps are just two. A lot of organic orchards growers here in the valley I live concentrate on the lacewings and a couple of others.

Laura it might be time to find tall plant tags like one might see at a botanical garden for your expanding garden. I’ve been following you forever and have so enjoyed your process of building this incredible garden. You have so many perennial trees and plants around the property now, it would be lovely to honor them with an impressive, tall name tag. You’ll never have to jog the memory to remember names of all your plantings. With the recent purchase of additional property, I’m sure the practice of labeling things will be beneficial down the line. It’s been wonderful watching you and your husband build this beautiful garden and what a wonderful legacy for your entire family. ✨

For codling moth here in Australia we often use a corrigated cardboard collar folded in half and wrapped around the trunk to stop the grubs getting to the blossoms. You need to empty the bugs out regularly into a bucket of water. Seems to work most times.

This is a good reminder for me to spray my trees as well! I live about a half hour east of you and I have bagged my apples before. It worked well for me. I got maggot barriers from Raintree Nursery and used twist ties to put them on. It pretty much prevented bug damage. I have three apple trees, of which two are larger trees, so I have to bag over 400 apples, that’s a lot! That’s why I didn’t do it last year, as well as it being a pain to take them off when the apples ripen. I tried spraying spinosad instead last year and it didn’t work at all for me. I may have gotten the timing wrong, but I’m going back to bagging them this year. I think you’ll like not having to worry about spraying, if you can take the way they look, you’re a lot pickier about that than I am, lol, and you don’t have near the fruit to worry about yet. I think there were three generations of codling moth last year, so that’s a lot of timing and spraying. Best wishes!
