Topwater fishing is my favorite way to catch bass in the spring. I went out in my Jon boat to try for some bass on a topwater spook that I painted. I had a very successful morning and can't wait to share the day with you. Thank you for watching feeshin friends!

Big followers I'll give it an hour then go back with a jig. Sometimes the glide baits work better as a fish finder than a fish catcher. I'd kill for a place like that to fish. I can't go 10 minutes without having to compete for a fishing spot out here. Love that spook! They are super easy to walk too.

Looks like you need some rivet sealer and a fresh coat of boat paint for you bass boat. Great to see your custom painted lures working well. I myself had better luck using big soft plastic swimbaits over hard ones in clear and stained water. Everyone misses bites about every time they go fishing. When you use topwater lures you see the misses. I would be safe to say you likely miss more subsurface strikes and just never know you did. Lions, Tiger and Bears have low success catch rates too. Bass don’t always hit their mark much better. That is why treble hooks snag quite a few fish outside the mouth. Bass often strike bait fish to stun them making it easier to swallow it head first. The reason your crayfish trailer gets its pinchers pulled off; is bass intend to remove the pinchers first to make eating them easier. What I discover using single inline hooks on crankbaits is if they don’t get stung from trebles they will strike a fast moving bait to stun it first and come in and swallow it seconds after the first attack. That is the exact same thing they do to hollow body frogs most of the time as well. When your crankbait hits a rock the rock is often a bass not a rock; telling the difference is merely impossible. However, if you stop the lure a moment the bass you thought was a rock eats your crankbait. Bass are notorious sucker punchers, that is why you catch bass the size of your bait. They will try eating anything they can kill that fits in their mouth. The two bass that followed your glide bait were assessing the odds and decline eating a strange colored offering. Next time they may not. But now you know where they live. Any questions?

I would definitely love a beginner series of videos, as you alluded to. I would like to get into fishing after a long break, and suggestions for solid, inexpensive gear would be very valuable. Potential ideas: 1) rod and reel choice (spinning combo and bait casting combo) 2) tools (pliers, hemostats, scissors, etc) 3) basic tackle outfit (terminal tackle, soft plastics, hard baits). The biggest barrier to entry for me at the moment is cost. I can't rationalize spending big money on the best gear, but would like to ensure what I do purchase is of reasonable quality so that it might last until I can rationalize the upgrade. Your boat would make a great commercial for the liquid rubber which stops all leaks. Hey you should contact them. You might make a few extra bucks promoting their product. Now that I am done teasing you for the day, On the serious side, is there a reel you would recommend for 50 pound braid? I bought this line for fishing in vegetation - from lily pads to grass etc. Is there a reel you can recommend that can handle the torque used to yank a fish our of vegetation?

Was that first one the Dink of the year so far? Also dunno how mechanical you are. Get some two part JB Weld. Flip your Kayak over and spray it with a hose, find that leak and apply JB Weld and let it dry. That'll fix your leak.

Remember of your wanting a big one in clear water go bold colors, cause the more you can see your bait the bass will see it from much further away than you think. A good tip, through the bold colors,find the fish,and finess a hook in the monsters mouth.

It depends on the holder that the rod has. Some are just a little loop and it won't let you do that. You actually have to put the point of the hook through it. I like the open kind better though.

Hey Debo would you put 12 lb p line fluorocarbon on a size 30 or size 40 spinning reel I talked to my uncle and he said he doesn’t have a problem with flouro on spinning reels but I saw that a lot of people don’t like it what is your opinion on it

I use a 3000 (30) size reel mostly. I go braid to a leader on all of my spinning gear. I mostly use spinning reels for finesse lures though.

What rod weight and line type did you throw the big glide bait on?

It's the Phoenix M1 heavy 8' rod. I had 80 lb suffix 832 on it.
