Another thing to remember about the use of "me gusta", is that it shouldn't usually be used when you want to say that you like a person, as in, "me gusta Juan", because it gives the meaning that you are "attracted" to that person, in a romantic or physical way. If you just want to express that you like someone (but not "attracted" to them), say "me cae bien".

I will say that "me late" is not common at all in Tijuana or in the northwest of Mexico. It is a very CDMX term. However, it is not wrong.

That means I learned "me gusta" for nothing. It was the Cuban singer from Miami, Armando Christian Pérez, also called "Mr. Worldwide" and "Pitbull" who taught me "me gusta" when he mentioned it in his song "On the floor": ASÍ MISMO, ASÍ ME GUSTA, ASÍ ME GUSTA, ASÍ ME GUSTA.

Thanks for all the suggestions, so I'll give one suggestion: English speakers probably wouldn't say "good Spanish"!

Amazing video, but I couldn't figure out what you were saying with "chonks/chawnk" at first. It's more like "chank".

It's "chunk" and it's our method of teaching Spanish :).

@@springspanish Cheers. I mean, I know what "chunk" is, it's that, errr, your pronunciation of the word is *variable*, if I can say that without seeming like a bad person. Sorry!

I think if this Spanish is understood to be SLANG among friends, then, ok. But in the real world, (“whey” dude, me late, etc.) I would never use this kind of Spanish. We live in a world now where people are really judged on their ability to communicate well. I am a Spanish teacher and I would not want my students to use this expression in formal settings, or even in informal ones. Sometimes “me gusta” is just appropriate and nothing else. “Me agrada” is also effective and common. Slang has its place on the street perhaps, but is not really going to set you apart as being educated. My opinion, and with much respect. ❤️

"Me late" may be slang, but the other expressions she gave, like "me encanta", "me fascina,", etc., are perfectly good alternatives to "me gusta". Although I agree that sometimes ,"me gusta" is the best choice.

Me choca el uso de la palabra FAN.

Porque?
@david8942 жыл бұрын
@margaritakleinman57012 жыл бұрын
