You are not over thinking. You are being efficient. Do it right the first time and it’s done. Doing the steps is the right thing to do now. Yes you can step up today but each day we get older and want to keep being productive. So what is easy today in a few years won’t be so easy. Thank you.

It's fun watching sweet Callie supervise, and puppy Beli help...I'm going to be very pleased to see your new chute finally in place. You've waited a long time for it, you've needed it for a long time, and now it's finally happening! Now, all the hard work needed to get it placed! Wonderful to see how you think everything out, and then do whatever you need to do to get the job done. Can't wait to see the new chute in place! It's going to be a great help to you, be better for your stock, and I'm still so happy that you got it at last. Keeping my fingers crossed for you to have a healthy and trouble free calving season, Farmer Tyler...and especially looking forward to seeing Riveter's offspring. This is going to be amazing! All the best to you, Farmer Tyler! 😊

Good morning from Cambodia, Tyler. Time spent in reconnaissance is never wasted. When assessing a multiple-part task I always think of it like a mouse and a large block of cheese. The large block can't be consumed in one go but nibbling away, the mouse consumes it all. Wonderful explanation as to what you are planning on doing - as always. Thank you for your time once again.

Great video. I enjoyed it. I don't know how you keep so many ideas juggling around in your head but somehow you make it work. Stop being so concerned with over-thinking. Under-thinking will surely be more detrimental in the long run. Considering that I am totally a city girl, I thoroughly enjoy watching what you do and how you go about figuring out how to do it. I can't wait for the next part to get posted.

You're a CEO out there. Guess that's what farm life is all about, especially since so often you're out there alone. Also, it was a good idea to create this channel. For me living in the city and always wanting to be where you are, I now see how hopeless I would be at it.😂 For you, you get a chance to share your farming knowledge and skills while being able to exercise your communication skills, about your animals, and the need for mechanical and planning. Really good idea to create this channel. Thanks!😊

I know concretes expensive, but would it be feasible to make the slab large enough so that the little "Tyler work zone" thats fenced in has a solid base too? Would help you keep working even if the weathers not been cooperating, you'll keep your own footing without sliding or sinking in mud. Plus handy bonus storage space. If nothing else, a damn fine tripod zone lmao. (and no patch of grass to tidy up when it gets out of control lol). just a thought before you go building forms n shit

Just a thought….. and a question? Is the chute and the load bars high enough in elevation so they would be “high and dry” in a future working corral that is “high and dry” If not you may consider pouring concrete over everything that is there so you could bring in a little dirt so everything slopes away from the new chute and you have drainage out of the corral area. At the price they charge for these new chutes, you want to keep them clean, high, and dry so they last. Just a thought…. Now I need to go and jack up my chute (originally installed on top of the ground) out of the mud pit that it is in……🤠

I'm curious about when you decided to upgrade to the Arrowquip crush? Because a while back you were talking about improving the ratchet system of the old one. We're there no good off the shelf or easy to make mods? I'm glad to see you go with Arrowquip, as their North American factory employs my fellow Manitobans. Tom Pemberton, UK dairy KZbinr, invested in the model 87 portable system and swears it's better than sliced bread.

Thinking about different options, thinking ahead & about possible problems is helpful in any project & saves time & aggravation in the end. This isn’t going to be easy to accomplish but will be well worth it. Putting steps or ramps on both ends of on the catwalk is a great idea, will be safer & your 25 years older self will thank you. Might as well do all the work now to improve the alley approaching the chute & new rebar reinforced level concrete pad for the chute & load bars to sit on. May want to consider extending the concrete pad on both sides of the new Arroquip by 4 - 5 feet to give yourself a level clean area to stand / walk on & put a table for vaccines, medications, notebook binder or pad to write on & etc when working cattle. You will be able to run pigs through to weigh them too. Would be easy to keep cleaner, sweep & hose off.

Great Video. Have you considered cutting back to the closest post, placing the chute and then rebuilding your alley to fit? I would think it would be faster rebuild a larger section when the chute is in place than to cut a small section place the chute and then try to fill the small gaps. You might even be able to save a complete section of alley that you could use in the future somewhere else or even sell.

A new concrete pad would be nice.... with elevated piers where the load bars go so mud falls away and can be cleaned around easier. I work in the ag industry and we always fight with snow melting then freezing and jacking up our load cells.

I'd just cut back to the next pole. Get the new chute in place, then rebuild to it. The height of things on the chute may dictate how you want (or have to) or need to "attach" it to the "catwalk" *alleyway.

Like to see the process and you explaining the why. One question though, would it be less work for you to cut a section out of the alley at the post you will be keeping and then use the existing end as the new end instead of cutting and re establishing a whole new end? I understand that one post is set in the concrete but it could be cut off flush with ground level too?

Tyler, would it be better to cut the end of the chute off so as you don't have to re-manufacture the same end and cut a piece of panel out of the chute to end up with the correct length. It would save rebuilding the cross over brace at the end of the chute. It seems a shame to discard something your'e having to make again. I've been screaming at the screen hoping you could hear.
