That was a fun way to start my morning. I feed and love my squirrels. Yours is the first feeder I've seen beat the buggers. I had a landlord in the mid-eighties that kept me entertained trying to keep them out of his feeders. Is this the OG squirrel ninja rope video?! Only 98k views... I can see why y'all made some more! Watching all the more recent videos and then going back to this one, I can't believe how much the squirrels adapted to the course over time! Seeing how they ran through some of the more complicated setups, it's hard to believe they were so timid (and bad at the course) early on!

I don't know about the squirrels in Louisiana, but the Gray squirrels in New England can *easily* jump straight up from the ground and grab the bottom of the bird feeders at that low hanging height. Your rope or cable needs to be at least a couple more feet higher up off the ground. Mine are 10 feet off the ground to discourage deer and bears, and the rope (I use rubber-clad, braided steel dog-run cable) has a pulley at one end so that I can easily raise or lower the feeders for refilling.
@CruzesLouisianaOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Howdy...thanks for stopping by! Yup I had to raise her up a couple times for sure. Here's a link to the evolution of this ninja rope over the last year or so! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKOllJahjN6jm6M
@steventrostle18254 жыл бұрын
MY neighbor strung a very taught 1/4 rope line about 25' from his house to a sturdy tree, the rope had no sag at all. Before he put it up he put 3/4" PVC on the line in signets varying from 1' to 3 ', he hung a bird feeder from it in the middle with PVC covering 10' on either side. I could see the roof line of his house from my chair in the living room- to my knowledge not 1 squirrel defeated this system in the 18 months he had it up. I really enjoyed it because it obviously frustrated the s**t out of the squirrels, they would sit on the roof looking at the set up and their tail would flick rapidly, I am sure that they were frustrated but Never won.
@CruzesLouisianaOutdoors4 жыл бұрын

Cool Video... It's amazing what these squirrels can do sometimes... But this obstacle course is Tuff... Keep these videos coming 😁
I love the one that would calmly walk down the rope, stroll over the pipe bomb (well, that's what it looks like), its tail waving gently ... then it hit the first PVC tube. That tail would start snapping like a flag in a tornado and you could almost feel the frustration flowing off the squirrel, until it fell. And it came back for more. Thanks to you and your son for sharing. Get the boy acting lessons. ;-) Going back to watch it again. :-D
