This is my first bike and its been 1 year since I've bought it. I have yet to out grow the speed on it and still wouldn't say I use it to the fullest. Its been great, 7k miles, one close scare that made me learn a lot but besides that I stay within my limits. It's definitely fitting for a first bike as long as you have proper self control. thoughts in 2024: I'll say, maybe not the most 'fitting' first bike for everyone. very dangerous especially for inexperienced. (300-400cc range would be fitting, and easily tradeable when upgrading) but I still love mine to this day and am happy I chose to start on the 600, it taught me a lot.

1 year of riding, lol...of course you can't use it to its fullest. You aren't even close. Professional riders can ride these bikes to a fault. 100% of normal people cannot. Unless you have spent every week at the track for the last 15 years, you are nowhere near riding the bike to its potential.
@jakejake7162 Жыл бұрын
Ive owned both 600cc range all the way up to Ducati 1299s and can say with confidence no one needs a 1000cc engine. It’s literally boring riding a bike you can only use 2-3 gears because they’re so tall. Plus the top speed is barely different between the two classes, along with acceleration. I’d say gsxr 750 at the most but even then, 99% of the people who buy these will never ever come close to being able to use the bikes full potential. Hope you have many safe miles and just do your best to not let the excitement of speed get you into any trouble(both with the law and health wise)

@hectichive8892 жыл бұрын
Dude, I’ve been noticing that gear whine too the more I watch clips of gsxrs. I could be wrong, but I don’t feel I’ve heard them on other 600s. Is there a reason for this? As far as I know, all motorcycles pretty much already have straight-cut gearboxes I’m pretty sure, but you don’t hear them whine much anyways even given that. I will say my Indian Scout has a very significant gear whine, even at idle, but that’s because they have a gear driven primary drive. I’m absolutely in love with the gsxrs and planning on adding one to the garage, was just curious. I think it sounds pretty cool!

Just as agile and in some ways more usable. I would probably recommend the SV 650 for a first bike over the Gsxr 600 but if you are not worried about the power then definitely. Mine 2006 GSX-R does exactly same 130 kph on first gear. 600 engine really did not change a lot last 20 years, cause no matter how much hoursepower do you get from engine, if it's limited with the torque of its capacity class, you will not go any faster. What has really evolved is a frame stiffness and weight, suspension and electronics. But not the engine peak power. It is already in very unusable range.

I have a similar Kawasaki 600cc inline 4. Very low power from idle to 5,000 rpm, where you spent most time on the street. At 13,000 rpm it really wakes up- where it is used on a race track. It will feel faster with a smaller front sprocket and/or bigger back sprocket, but will vibrate more at 75 mph. If you are young the insurance is high, and the very powerful front brakes to stop it at 150 mph can get a beginner in trouble fast. The R6 is often considered best on a track, and the 636 best on the street for this style. They are best at 70 mph or above because your chest acts like a sail to lift your weight off the seat.

Doesn’t matter how fast you are on track, the objective is to have fun and meet new friends

The main reason to ride a bigger engine bike is it is at lower percentage of its peak stresses most of the time which help longevity. I love all of them, though.

That’s been proven to be nonsense. Supersports are designed for max performance, the lower tier sport bikes are understressed for durability. The Ninja 650, for example, is Kawasaki’s most reliable engine, even though it might turn more revs than a liter bike going down the road.
