I have a '99 V Star 1100 Custom that I bought new. It now has 90,000 miles on it and at 21 years old still runs like new. These bikes are bulletproof the only things I've had to replace besides batteries, fluids, brake pads, and tires is the clutch and the voltage regulator. Yamaha forever!
@markchimmy2 жыл бұрын
At how many miles did you replace the clutch and voltage regulator on yours? Thanks!
@kapql2 жыл бұрын
@@markchimmy voltage regulator was changed early around 20K l think it was defective as its replacement has lasted 100K . I replaced the OEM clutch with upgraded parts at 45K and haven't replaced it since. I sold the bike in September 2021 with 120000 miles on it and bought a 2006 Royal Star Midnight Venture, another awesome Yamaha. Cheers.

Thank you for sharing it's good to know what to kind of expect and learn from others and their experiences with these great motorcycles and it's amazing that these motorcycles are able to have that many miles on them with proper maintenance like yours had 120k wow! I thought 80k-100k would be the limit, but 120k wow! that's really impressive! and whoever bought it from you if it's the right person that cares probably still rides it without any problems,I would think. Thanks again for sharing interesting facts about this great motorcycle and what your experience was like having it throughout the years when you owned it. Take care and be safe out there and congrats on your new motorcycle that's another great one!👍

I have a 2003 V Star 1100 with 35,000 kms (Canada) and your videos get me through our long winters. Yamaha doesn't build cruisers anymore, other than the Voyageur and the V Star lineup was stellar. It's July 3rd, 2023 and I'm going for ride. SHINY SIDE UP!!!!

I own a 2000 V-Star 1100 Classic. I was on a "Poker run" with a mixed group of bikes. I was hearing the usual"Rice Burner" comments from the "Harley Guys"(all in good nature) I had a friend(of a friend) that was a certified Harley & Yamaha Mechanic. He saw my bike(baby) & heard the comments.. He told me that I was riding a "Coast Bike".I asked him what he meant? He said that if he had to leave immediately for the west coast(we were in Ga.), he would take a V-Star instead of his Harley( 05 Soft tail). He said that the V-Star was a more dependable bike than his Harley for the long hauls. He said he had worked on both at the different dealerships he had been employed at( 3 different dealerships 2-Harley 1-Yamaha) and knew what he was talking about (e ven though he wouldn't let the other"Harley Guys" hear him say it! LOL!) True story!

The V Star 1100s will hang with the 1340 Harleys. my V Star was just as strong if not stronger and much better ride too. My Dad's 1340 Harley is a great bike and I like it but my old V Star 1100 was a much better ride.

They are not injected. Dual down-draft Mikuni carbs. So no, doesn't fire up immediately like an injected bike. Needs gas. Gas needs air-flow through the carbs. Air-flow needs an engine cranking. If you were more experienced with engines you'd have known this already, but whatever. Now you know. Hope to see ya on the road!

The V Star 1100 is one of the craziest steering bikes I’ve ever ridden. Turn and it feels like the bike wants to pull you back the opposite direction.

I own this bike. I learned to ride on this bike. I am female. It is a wonderful bike for females to learn on and to drive. Don't let him keep talking about how manly it is to deter you from buying it. It is a perfect bike for me who is 5"2 and 3/4 tall. And a 110 pounds. I am able to control it just perfectly fine. Without being afraid. Like I was on my 2003 Harley anniversary bike.

Mine screams at 70 with cobra pipes n a hypercharger I'm sure it would do fine but I wouldn't put my bike through that for long periods of time that's just me though
@lifeischeesy3 жыл бұрын
@@isitreal1521 why not? Highway miles are worth half as much (wear and tear) as city miles. I’m sure this thing will travel across the us with no problem. And a couple Amazon mods won’t make your bike less reliable, so long as you keep up with regular maintenance and make sure you loctite everything lol

This is off subject, but is it normal for a v star 1100 to have a ticking sound? I have a 2005 classic and the engine ticks with the revs of the motor. it still runs perfect, so I didn't know if it was normal or something was wrong. I thought you may have run into this in the past. Thanks

I have a 2001 v star 1100 and have the same ticking sound. I took it to a Yamaha dealer for the 20k km maintenance and asked them if it's normal and they said it's fine, they didn't hear any sounds from the bike that were not normal, so I guess it's not a flaw but a feature :D

Probably swapping my 2000 Hayabusa for one of these today (1999 Custom with around 11 000 miles on it). Unfortunately I can't keep it, as I have no room for 3 bikes, but I will definitely take a few rides on it and enjoy her while it lasts. Trading my Busa because it is frigging impossible to sell those things, for some reason. A very low mileage cruiser should be easier, I hope.. Beautiful bikes though.
