In this video I show you the dyno pulls and results from the stage 1 modifications. Be sure to check out my first video (linked at the end of the video) for all the details on my build so far. Do you think I made enough power?
Modification List:
Power Mods:
- Ford Racing CAI with K&N filter
- Ford Racing twin 62 MM throttle body
- Ford Racing Intake Manifold
- Kooks Long tube headers with an off-road H pipe
- Ford Racing FR500s axle back exhaust
- Accel coil packs
- Steeda tune / SCT X4
Drive-train:
- MGW short throw shifter
- Steeda one-piece aluminium driveshaft
- Stock 3.73 rear-end gear ratio
Suspension:
- Ford Racing dynamic strut & shock kit
- Ford Racing "K" lowering springs (1.5" drop)
- Steeda front and rear sway bars
- RTR adjustable front end links
- Steeda rear adjustable upper and lower control arms with relocation brackets
- Steeda adjustable pan-hard bar and pan-hard bar brace
Wheels/Tires/Brakes:
- 255/45/R18 Mickey Thompson Street Comp tires
- Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors
- Stock Bullitt rims

When my stang had a similar setup (I have a UDP as well - unsure if you do), it made 308 whp w/ a Bama tune and 327 whp after a dyno tune. The software used to do the tune was HPTuners. If you google "How to tune your Mustang using HP Tuners - Modular Fords" (should be first result) there's a decently in-depth article that covers some important settings - especially when the CMCVs are removed. I'd paste the link, but YT doesn't like that. So just in case you ever end up dyno tuning your stang w/ HPTuners, be sure the tuner is aware of the settings mentioned in that writeup.

Wow thanks for the info. You’re channel is first class, been watching for a while. I saw where you picked up a lot with a dyno tune, and I know that’s the best way to get max numbers. I will definitely go that route if I ever build/boost. The Brenspeed tune I have now is spot on, I’ll post a video about that of course. I have an SCT handheld but I think those guys over at Outlaw Performance do work with HP. If I end up letting them dyno tune it I’ll be sure to keep this info in mind.

One thing that so many people are uninformed about is that dyno results are relative. No two dynos, or two cars are identical and even the same car on the same dyno can and will put down slightly different numbers simply because there’s so many variables that go into making power. Numbers are only half of the story. A drag strip slip will tell you the other half. I’ve learned a lot from working at a performance shop and it made me realize a lot lol. Don’t be worried if your car makes 308whp and Joblo’s 3v makes 330. Dynos are tools for tuning and that’s all. Btw, your bullit is absolutely beautiful man🤙🏼🤙🏼

@@ProjectBullitt yeah man I recently put down 336whp and 307tq, then 331whp and 300tq with the nitrous plate on without spraying on my fbo cammed setup. Before that I had made 358whp and also 337whp on two other different dynos in the winter with the exact same mods minus the Ford racing manifold and Lito tune. They’re all different numbers and very different dynos. Yet when I made 358 (or 337whp depending how you look at it) I ran 13.1 on radials. A few days after I recently made 336whp I ran a 12.8 with the same drag setup. Kinda goes to show

If you're ever able to I'd recommend making a trip up to Charlotte, NC. I've got an 08 Bullitt black with BBK long tubes, catted x and Flowmaster outlaws and had it dyno tuned at ProDyno just across the state line in SC and put down 310rwhp and 331 rear torque...He'll have you a good bit higher than me with the intake and throttle body on the same motor and with long tubes

I appreciate the feedback ! Yeah your torque number is excellent, may be the highest I’ve seen for a FBO car without cams.

My 08’ has FRPP intake, FRPP throttle body, BBK shorty headers, steeda UDP’s. I’m on stock cats and made 314whp. Running a Lito tune. You should try Lito.

I appreciate the feedback. You’re talking about 5 HP and similar mods, so that makes me feel a bit better about the Steeda tune I had. Do you remember your TQ?

Hit up Lito if you can. Best 3v tuner out there. Brenspeed is very good but idk what it is but Lito tuned 3v’s are running hard. But if you do go with brenspeed, Brent will take care of you

I agree, and for no reason really. If you build any one the modular engines they put out big numbers.

No I never put it on the dyno when it was stock. Probably around 275 or 280

Wait, why does the power seem so little? A bone stock GT dynos about 295whp, I figured a bone stock bullitt would dyno around 305whp, yet yours is modded?

From my understanding stock 3v’s typically dyno around 260 -280.

Yeah the 3v is good for about 50 more HP than the 2v

@@mustang_headass 2v's make like 220whp, 3vs make like 255whp. Yeah ford says 260hp for the 2v and 300hp for the 3v but thats to the crank, to the wheels its roughly a 15% loss. 260-15%=220. Where I'm from I just stay away from newer mustangs, newer camaros. Everything else I have beat with my 3v. Have raced 3 series bmw's audi's, boosted VW's, 350z, like 2010ish hemi charger, I havnt lost yet

The specs you read are hp at the crank not to the wheels.

The dyno allows you to measure an engine’s power output at every rpm, along with other various bits of information. They are mainly used to tune an engine’s computer to operate at maximum efficiency for a given purpose.
