The Girl With The Pilates Mat

The Girl With The Pilates Mat

Join me for a 30 minute full body standing pilates wortkout. This session will exercise the whole body and raise the heart rate-all with the calm, attention to detail we use in Pilates. This routine has upper body work to strengthen the back, shoulders and arms, as well as functional standing exercises to build leg, hip and glute strength, increase joint mobility and balance and increase core strength and control. All of which will help sculpt and tone your body.
I recommend everyone incorporate standing workouts into their fitness routines- they're simple and very effective. This routine starts with warm up movements, then progressively gets more challenging, so stick with it to the end! It'll raise the heart rate, challenge your balance and coordination and build real strength and muscle tone in the legs. It can work as a stand alone routine for anyone of any age, or as a prep for a big workout day such as a long run or cycle ride.

Hello Rachel, I have been involved and done exercise regularly all my life but never Pilates. I recently had a c5 corpectomy and was only allowed to walk for 3 months following the op before starting gentle rehabilitation. I was doing your standing Pilates sessions, just 10 or 20 minutes several times a week and feel it has really helped me with recovery. I am back to normal activities now but still include your sessions as they are so valuable and achievable, and my balance is much improved. You are so calm and clear in your instructions. Just completed this workout. I have been following you for two years and just love your channel. You give excellent instructions. I am 77 and often do your senior classes, but also challenge my self with ones like this one.

Love you, Rachel! I was babysitting my Granddog on Monday and wasn't able to join you. But I am home again and will be doing this workout. It has been 97 degrees F here. My iPhone tells me that is 36 Cel. We do have AC, thankfully... Last year it got to 116 F, 46 . I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, usually the coolest, wettest part of the U.S. So it was quite unbelievable. It was Freakish. Much love...

I just finished this workout on Dec 29 with 6" of snow on the ground in Denver CO. This was such a great class and loved the slow motion while balancing -great challenge. Hope you do more like this.

Hi Rachel very chilly here in Melbourne 12 today - i even left my socks on for class and the heater is on! One exercise i found challenging as i do have very tight hamstrings despite a few years of Pilates and other classes. When holding under the knee and raising the lower leg there is no way i can straighten it. Very frustrating! Other than that the balance work was great, thanks. Hope you keep cool and safe for the rest of the week. Julie

Missed yesterday because of a prior appointment, but enjoyed this very much, standing sessions always great for my balance issues- did have to adjust with a chair on weaker right side to grab as needed, but lovely and stretching feeling. Love your session but, I have possibly beginning arthritis in my left hip. When doing side leg lifts I can barely lift either leg off of my mat, but I just do them that way anyway. I modify that way. BUT, if I do the side leg lifts with the foot turned outward, I think that's when I have a big worsening of my hip and pain afterwards. Does that make sense to you? I definitely do not turn the feet out now. I have been doing your sessions almost daily for about 8 weeks and the arthritis and neck pain , also have an uneven disk in the neck, and immobility has greatly diminished , so happy and grateful.
