Anyway, as a fast food worker I have to tell we really DO NOT CARE about the sauces thing but we're filmed and watched. If it were up to us you'd get 3 sauces if you wanted because that would get you out the store faster! For a time a former boss invented a way to get us to charge people for extra sauces (after people for a time were asking for 6 or more) and we'd get writeups if we didn't do it.

In the food places I go to, you get employees who won't give you enough for your meal or ones who will give you a long-term supply. When you run into the give you enough for armageddon employee you have to use that as an opportunity to save packets for when the employee who thinks they're rationing for the great recession is working. Employees either don't care because it's not their money or they're control freaks who want to monitor how many sauces you get.

@drewski217 I feel you. I was a training director for Chick-fil-A for many years and it was a little different there but at some of the other places I've worked we had to charge and we checked it during inventory to make sure the money and the number of items sold matched, we also watched cameras and had to write up employees for things such as giving away certain food items without charging. So I totally get it.

Funnily enough, there have been several grocery stores that learned the hard way that pricing everything lower doesn't work that well. Many stores that tried experienced severe drops in traffic and sales, because it was actually the 'sale' that was triggering the impulse for people to come in and buy. Sometimes sound logic and customer behaviors just do not line up the way you'd think they would.

I love this man. I remember years ago, McDonald's was charging people for water. Water. In a small ass plastic cup. 25 cents. In the middle of drop dead summer heat. I was so pissed. I walked out and didn't go back for years, and when I did I only went after I asked if the water was free 🤷🏽‍♀️ but now I hardly ever. Companies are so ridiculously greedy. It's sad. On the flip side, I had someone at the register buy me a drink when all I asked for was water, and said "We need to take care of each other." What's so hard about this greedy corporate? 🤔🤷🏽‍♀️

People take advantage of free. Also, the amount of scholarships and promotions are directly related to profits. It's not all bad but yes they are greedy. It's a business, not a charity. I'm just saying it's not a black and white situation. A lot of grey area.

The people who run those huge corporations have literally let people starve. During the great depression there was a guy who ran a food company, I forget his name. The people were too poor to buy his food, so instead of saying, "you know what I'm in a position to help these starving people, let me charge reduced prices or give away my companies food for free", he gathered up all the excess food, poured kerosene on it, and lit it on fire.

@@alexandercanella4479 An organization doesn't have to be a charity in order to not nickel and dime people to death. And yes, some people take advantage of free, but not nearly as much as corporations take advantage of the working class and the poor. Those scholarships and promotions are a drop in the bucket compared to the salaries those profits support for those in the C-suite and upper management. It's like comparing a basket of apples to an entire orchard. Very little in life is black and white, but today's corporate greed is in no way justified, no matter what "scholarships and promotions" they offer. Charging someone for a cup of water is absurd, regardless of context.

I honestly don't mind the chit chat, tbh. I'm a pretty quiet guy in general, don't talk too much. But I don't mind connecting with people for a few minutes, even if it's corporate mandate. The workers are people too, and they might be having a shitty day too, forced to fake a smile. That simple polite interaction could change their whole day, if it's genuine. It's done so for me before. Never underestimate the effect of a sincere smile and a heartfelt "you have a good day too"... we're all stuck on this rock in space together. Might as well make the best of it.
