Ro Laren, played by Michelle Forbes, makes a surprising appearance on Picard as one of the Federation officers sent to rebuke Jean-Luc and Riker. Ro's character was a rare figure in "Next Generation," questioning the status quo and valuing personal identity. She was the perfect person to tell Jean-Luc that Starfleet is compromised at the highest level. In the "Picard" version of Ro, she is a commander now, recruited to Starfleet Intelligence after being court-martialed and undergoing an "arduous rehabilitation program."
Jean-Luc's frustration and hurt at Ro's betrayal is palpable. However, even though he fundamentally misread Ro, he still trusts her. Ro reveals that changelings are everywhere within Starfleet, and as it turns out, they are right next to her, planting a bomb on her shuttle. This closure to Ro's character is innovative and well-executed.
This episode is the best in a strong season for "Picard." Ro's character and surprising appearance provide a nostalgic callback to "Next Generation" while also giving us new insights into the Picard universe.

I do have a question for you guys; tell me I'm wrong, but isn't it true that the changelings in DS9 were not able to mimic people as accurately as - for instance - the T-1000 could? The way I recall it, human appearances of changelings (much like Odo's) left much to be desired. In terms of fooling anybody that changelings could look like actual humans. Therefore, isn't it the fact that changelings are now able to look human on the outside that should have startled the Titan's crew, rather than them being able to also mimic humans on the inside with organs?

I really couldn't be happier with season 3, this is star trek truly at it's best exactly the way it should always be. Every character thoroughly fleshed out and all plot points met with a complete and accurate telling of the entire story.

And no superfluous tangents that seemed to go nowhere. Every plotline seems to be going somewhere as part of a coherent whole moving the narrative along. It's great that each character here , each has something vital they are adding to the story and adding to their character development arc.

The lines Picard tells Jack "many rebels from all reaches of the galaxy have found their way to Star Fleet", more than an invitation to Jack to join the fleet they are actually foreshadowing the return of Ro a few minutes later, and are another sample of very good writing of this season.

Slight correction...Worf uses a new weapon called a Kur'leth. Shaw didn't point out the TNG episode Time Squared, he pointed out All Good Things..., you know that because he says "created a time paradox in the Devron System."

Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard is by far and away the best Star Trek I've seen. Beautifully done, fabulously acted, very well written, it's an old geek lady's dream come true! Here's what puzzles me: The voice that talks to Jack belongs to Beverly. It's confirmed by the captions of CBS. And you can tell it's Beverly if you listen carefully. That makes it even more strange. Why would she tell her son to find her, when she's on the same ship with him. Something very disturbing is going on here. And I LOVE it! Show gets better and better! ♥♥♥

I've assumed there is a risk that another or something is copying Beverly Crusher's voice to confuse and misdirect Jack Crusher. Or maybe manipulate him to involuntarily orchestrate the release of something that the TNG crew dealt with years ago, other than the usual high profile villains suspects viewers usually first think of.

I'm very unsure about this, but I'm wondering whether Jack is seeing through the eyes of another who is actually doing the killing but visualises himself carrying out these acts, as we too see, but it is another being doing the deeds. In other words, there may telepathic powers impacting upon Crusher.

Worf seems to be the only person positively impacted by the passage of time. I can think of no character more appropriate to mentor Rafi and to bring her out of her darkness. Goofy main baddie aside, this season has been so good. Oh, and having a Laforge handle her business has been a delight. Also, having a detractor get a first hand glimpse as to how and why the Enterprise crew might have needed to bend the rules all those years ago is pretty awesome as well.

Shaw mentioning the time that Picard had 2 Enterprise D's shine a tech thing at the same point at different times, and then having the Pasteur shine its own tech thing at another time, but making it look like a 3rd Enterprise D, jumped out at me. The minor writer's error aside, All Good Things was a better version of Generations than Generations.

For the first time, after growing up with TNG, I’m beyond giddy with excitement and feel engaged in season 3’s story line. The story, characters and depth is Star Trek as I love. Shaw is brilliant, the return of a loved but broken character, bringing her story to a bitter sweet conclusion. Who is Jack, really. Seven of nine, my favorite character but all are amazing… I could list them all… since TNG, I have not been so engaged, felt genuine emotions for the characters and felt the intensity and gravity of their situation like I do now. Star Trek has just been ok since TNG… including season 1 and 2 of Picard, now in season 3 of Picard, Star Trek is back and I’m just beyond thrilled. Thank you to those who brought this story to fruition.

Maybe something in Picard's DNA transferred over to Jack. And the now nano tech has evolved into something else. Might explain why everyone wants him so badly. Since the Changlings have evolved also. Great episode, Some theories I've seen believe that Jack is possessed by a pah wraith especially with the red eyes, as its possible the rebel changelings have hatred towards the prophets over wiping that whole Dominion fleet in the wormhole early on in the war and they want to use Jack as a way to destroy the prophets

I wish y'all would stop with the silly Pah Wraiths theory. They're not gonna have obscure oft mentioned entities that weren't much a part of anything as the main bad guys. It's rogue changelings.

I'm all on board for this. Now well into the second act i really enjoyed the show. But please tell terry in his (potential) future show the ships really need to figure out how lightswitches work. There's dramatic lighting and then there's having an almost pitch black work environment on a starship. It's also a very easy rule of thumb: If the color on the face of your actors is the color of the monitor screens then it's to dark.

Loving Picard Season 3 & I want more of this! I wish people would wait until the season is over to nitpick questions that are usually answered in the next episode or will be. I know it's hard to do with previous NuTrek shows because we never got answers or they were ridiculous answers that made no sense as the stories made no sense in any meaningful way. What a complete 180 with Terry & his team! We need more Good Trek!! #terrytrek

Season 3 of Picard feels like the sequel to both TNG and DS9; they are bringing characters back and wrapping up threads that I never thought would be addressed. At first I thought it was lame when Ro showed up, there was no way she could have got back into Starfleet; but her scenes with Picard were written so well, and she died a hero and got a true redemptive sendoff. When I watch the episodes Captain Shaw feels like what little I've seen of Nu Star Trek while Picard and Riker are the dignified, professional adults from the Rodenberry/Berman Trek. It's a nice contrast. My hope for season 3 of Picard is that Quark will show up at some point.

I can actually understand Captain Shaw’s perspective. To us we’re laughing because from our perspective Riker is pulling a Kirk and stealing his old ship from dry docks. From his the man who is responsible for his deepest trauma stealing his ship, putting his crew in danger, and potentially putting him back in the situation he was in ‘last time he met Picard’.

Season three is imho among the best and strongest Trek episodes of any generation or manifestation. Terry Matalas saved not only Picard but also gave the Trek franchise some of its best material ever.

I think Jack is somehow connected to the Borg and the voice he is hearing is the Borg queen. Some how the Borg assimilated the Changelings and somehow gave them the ability to avoid detection. Dr. Jurati was one smart lady.

I am so loving this final season of Picard. It just gets better and better with each passing episode. As a Trek fan for all 50 plus years of the series, this season is among the best Trek there has ever been. It was an emotional episode to be sure. It was a good day to die for Ro Larren. She died an epic, Star Trek hero's death. Sacrifice of one's self for the good of the many. Unlike the first two seasons of Picard that only had fleeting moments of things that I liked, getting through both seasons was kind of a slog and I was glad that those seasons were over. With the ending of this season, I think I will be sad to see it go but satisfied that what transpired was great and truly enjoyable Star Trek.

The cool thing about Matalas is, I think (and don't quote me on this) he may have actually seen an episode or two of Star Trek in his youth. I know I know.. it seems crazy after what has been tossed to us for the last the last 5 years, but I just can't shake this feeling that he kind of actually likes it? These first episodes of Season 3, one could be forgiven for thinking they are watching real Star Trek.

I dont think she is dead, SHE COULD had beamed back on the Titan the last moment by disabling the inhibitor , butttttt who knows lol We could had made to believe she is dead because of the suicide mission and the stakes surrounding hitting the shuttle on the nacele.
