Heinz Petruo was awesome in that role. I still can't decide whether I prefer James Earl Jones over him in that role. Especially in this sentence where the "Nein" becomes this bonechilling hiss, as if Vader is really relishing the fact that he can contradict Obi-Wan here. And then how he belches out the world "Vater" as if he wants to slap Luke with that word.

Best one, besides the original, is the German one. Quite a delivery. The first "portuguese" dub is actually Brazilian Portuguese. No movies in Portugal are dubbed, except children's movies. Another thing is "brazillians". Brazil's language is brazilian portuguese, just like USA's language is US english and Argentina's language is argentinian spanish.
@RenanGreca10 жыл бұрын
Are Renato Cardoso and Silvio Navas from different releases of Portuguese? Cardoso sounds awesome, Navas sounds horrible. I should pop in my DVD and check which one I have when I get home (I never watch dubbed movies). I'd assume Cardoso is on the more recent remastered versions and such. Wikipedia says the VAs were Sílvio Navas in the old dubs and Pádua Moreira in the new ones. ... This video seems worse by the minute.

The dubs that best matched the intonation and delivery of James Earl Jones's original were the Italian and 1999 Spanish dubs. Both the "no" and the "I" are supposed to be emphasized.
@tamanwar2034 жыл бұрын
Sure. But not all languages have similar tone patterns. As a french guy, I think the french intonation for this line is excellent and that using the english intonation wpuld be criminal. Because I think Lucas had shakespearian tragedies in mind, it makes sense that the line delivered in english is emphasized in a Shakespearian way. In french though, tragedy is best felt with a more monotonous voice in which you feel the sorrow more than the big reveal.

I never thought, that we had 3 actors to perform his voice, but separete times. Little funfact: - Attila Nagy voiced Mufasa in the Hungarian dub of the Lion King (yeah, imagine this scene with Mufasa and Simba. Have fun! :D ) - Frigyes Hollósi does Mr. Stokes in You rang, m'lord? - Lajos Kránitz does John Silver in Tresure Planet The second is my personal favorite, althought Kránitz sound really like Hollósi.

@GustavoVeraScuderiPY9 жыл бұрын
Gordone Uomolibero Normally, there's the (Spain) Spanish version and the Latin American Spanish version.The Latin American version is mostly made on Mexico with a more "neutral" version of Spanish. The difference is in the accent and the use of some words and constructions.
@gordoneuomolibero3639 жыл бұрын
Gustavo Vera Scuderi Are there a lot of differences between "proper" Spanish and "mexican" Spanish? Better, spanish and mexican people can understand each other? I ask this since I can understand a little of spanish but I have know idea of which "version"
@GustavoVeraScuderiPY9 жыл бұрын
There are 20 countries with Spanish as official language, as such every country has it's own variation of Spanish. However, we can understand each other quite well thanks to the common ground stablished by the RAE (the academy that rules the Spanish language). However, the Spanish that the people from Spain talk is somewhat "weird" for Latin America people, as over here the Spanish transformed a lot in pronunciation and semantics. That's why most Spanish dubs are always one for Spain and other for all of Latin America, normally made on Mexico, Venezuela or Argentina, with as less regional variations as possible.
