Perhaps the reason Donnie Yen has played two blind martial artists is because of the popularity of Zatoichi, the blind swordsman. Zatoichi was the inspiration for Fujitora in One Piece too Highly recommend watching Andor, it is excellent and focuses more on the people element of the rebellion and oppression of the Empire.

One thing I will say is amazing about this movie is how much the rebellion has to sacrifice to get those plans. Like, how many Star Wars stories (or just stories in general) have it so almost all the main characters die just for a chance at victory. And that's the other thing, none of the members of Rogue One knew for certain that these plans would allow them to defeat the Empire, but they took that risk anyway and that sacrifice helped the heroes in the OG trilogy win!

I think another reason why Saw also stayed (other than probably being too physically incapable to escape) was that he recognized how far he had fallen. The Alliance at this point in time were losing so bad, they were desperate and ended up doing underhanded things - they weren't noble or idealistic, they did a lot of shady shit to keep themselves from being eliminated by the Empire. What Cassian did to his informant at the start - that wasn't something someone like Leia or Luke would ever tolerate. Saw himself had become a terrorist even to the Rebels, a rogue extremist who doesn't even hesitate to torture POWs like Bodhi - seeing Jyn and Galen's message probably made him realize that there was a better way, and that his ways were no longer the right method of fighting evil.

Rogue one I'd argue is the best of the Disney made movies, it started a bit slow but man when the third act hits it hits like a Star destroyer Wombo Combo. That said the way you were talking about the logistics of the death star I think you guys would love Generation tech on KZbin and the Andor show especially.

The general consensus is that Rogue One is peak Disney Star Wars. But like, actually good. Up there with The Mandolorian and Andor. Solo also, in and of itself, is actually a pretty good movie. It's just an unnecessary movie that was riding off the wave of the Episode 8 controversy. The stuff that is hated on is Episode 8 and 9, Boba Fett, Obi-Wan, and The Acolyte. There was also that one animated show Star Wars Resistance, but I've never seen it so I can't really give an opinion. Episode 7 was an overall decent movie. It's 8 and 9 that bring it down retroactively. The Ahsoka show is also not terrible, as far as ratings go. Solo, like I said, was a good movie, but it didn't do well in the box office because of the negative reception of Episode 8.
@666FallenShadow2 күн бұрын
solo kinda had everything going against it, it came out after 8 which completely divided the fanbase but also most people just weren't interested in a solo origin movie or a solo movie without harrison ford. it also doesn't help that it's a very safe and paint by numbers movie. it's not bad, it's just kinda mediocre

Right. Of course we’d all like to think we’d be the one to not follow the order, but imagine someone’s going to continuously rape your captive daughter and wife if you don’t, but if you comply you and your family are free and get to go home. Obviously they could just do it anyway, but what’s the alternative when you don’t have super strength or super intelligence to get out of it. It’s easy to say you’d be the superhero that just says no while you’re sittin’ cozy on your couch.

As sad as the ending was you have to laugh even more at Leia’s audacity to lie straight to Vader’s face in a New Hope. Mfer just chased her straight from the scene of where it happened and she’s still like “Death Star plans? on MY ship ? 🤔” 😂😂

Saw giving up is exactly what it was, him choosing to stay behind and die on Jeddha is a perfect parallel to Vader choosing to stay behind on the Death Star. Once they learned that those they care about were safe, that was all they needed, their mission was complete, why carry on living with the suffering they bear.

Besides the Vader hallway scene, my favorite scene in the whole movie is when the hammerhead corvette rams the disabled star destroyer. So epic. Also, I may be over reading into this, but I think to me that’s a pretty good picture of the Rebel Alliance. Outgunned, outnumbered, and back against the wall but in a way that desperation brings out the best in you through ingenuity, improvisation and grit.

21:57 When I was in Basic, our drill sergeant (the Platoon Dad, as it were) taught us on the very first day of schoolhouse instruction that “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.” That was a lesson that has stuck with me like a Covenant plasma grenade ever since. Moreover, this film in general (and this scene in specific) does such an excellent job of driving this home in a way that no other Star Wars media - except perhaps Rebels - has done. Also, the US Government has answered the Death Star Question.

Nobody was upset that the light saber crystals were being used to create the death star super laser. It’s a Concept that’s been around when you guys were in highschool. One story written in the late 90s had the death star super laser was based on revolutionary mining technology that was converted into a weapon by the Empire. That idea was quickly scrapped when work began of TFU in 2007, TCW 2008. Hell it goes back to 2005 with the release of battlefront two. The Kyber crystals being used for the death star are the size of boulders. And there’s hundreds of them.

"If you don't like this movie, I don't think you're a Star Wars fan" If the rest of Disney Star Wars had been handled with the same care and love for what came before that Rogue One clearly had, I think the fandom would not be as divisive as it is today This was the beacon of hope that I felt with the transition. I especially feel like in those early days with the one off projects, there was a respect for the franchise that translated to a lot of time and effort being put into it. I think the sequel trilogy was doomed from the start since they didn't have a plan for it and passed it off from creator to creator with no coordination between them. That's just a bad plan for the project that you need to get right if you're going to win over fans now that you've bought the franchise. Knowing that, I did not get the same angry reaction everyone else did, though now looking back on it I'm angry
36:00-38:00 Not sure if this is the right time stamp, but I always feel like that's a pretty hard topic to get a clear answer on. I mean yeah you guys ARE right from a moral standpoint on the idea if your orders are atrocious you shouldn't follow them but then that comes with its own set of issues: 1) They may send someone else to do it instead, and possibly in an even WORSE way than you 2) There are times where (and no, I am not defending the idea of orders like "kill everyone" as something good) the orders you receive no matter how difficult are ones you have to carry out. A couple of stories that come to mind are American Snipers who on occasion are given orders to make pre-emptive decisions on whether or not a target is a threat...with these potential threats sometimes being elderly or children. At first glance it's a no brainer, till you realize if you choose wrong there's a real chance you and friends aren't going home alive. Overall, you guys definitely aren't wrong, but unfortunately it's never as clear cut as "if you follow morally wrong orders you're a monster". Obviously there are exceptions on both sides the argument, but you get my point. As much as that sucks...
